Rank the Amendments to the US constitution

Criminals don't obey gun laws.

 

My post was facetious. For all practical purposes, the 2A has been suspended via local regulation in high crime cities for decades, yet shootings remain high.

 

Do they obey other laws? If not why have them?

 

We already have plenty of gun laws. How are those working out for ya?

 

Obviously lousy. We have 25 times the rate of other developed countries with better gun laws than us. We should do what they do if we want to get the results they have.

 

If you're experiencing 25 times the crime rate as in other developed countries, I feel for you. You should start a go fund me account, and carry a gun when legal.

So everybody else can be justified when they kill a criminal.

All depends on the intent of the user. If the gun user is good, guns are good, and vice versa. That's why I believe we should encourage gun ownership. The more good people with guns, the better off we are. I do think that most people are good.

 

Well, I think the 4th and 5th are the two best, followed by the 1st and 2nd (no order), the worst is the 17th, the most useless are the 3rd and the 18/21.

1st, 2nd--These are the basics of liberty. With the 4th and 5th, we can use these amendments
13,14,15,19,24--Civil rights amendments to give more freedom to all.

Acceptable amendments:
11,12,20,22,23,25,26,27,16

Bad Amendments that should be repealed:
17--takes the power from the states and gives to the people. This changed our balance of power between the states and feds in a negative way, allowing the feds entirely too much power. The Senate should be elected by state legislatures.

14th is useless without 4,5,6, etc. Notice that you dislike the amendments that most harm the idea of dictatorship in this country. It's amazing that anyone (other than a crooked sheriff) could dislike the 4th amendment:

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

 

Reading this alone, your post just lost all its respect and seriousness. This just proves how ignorant you're of history. The 2nd amendment is the last line of defense. The constitution would be obsolete and utterly useless without it. Maybe you just suck at history and don't know why we have it in the first place. FYI, the American Revolution was sparked over gun confiscation. Read about the Battle of Athens, TN.

 

Without the second any tyrrant could choose at whim to ignore the rest.

 

I never said that the 2nd was anything less than great. If truth be to told, I think of most of the Bill of Rights (with the exception of the 3rd) to be close to equally important.

 

Over 70% of serious violent crimes don't involve guns. So, no, most of the threats aren't from guns.

 

Well many do in the US. We can't eliminate all these deaths but we can do better

 

1. The 9th Amendment - This is the ONLY Amendment required that protects ALL individual rights.
2. The 10th Amendment - This Amendment prohibits the federal government from assuming powers not specifically granted to it by the remainder of the Constitution.
3. All the rest. They are taken care of by the 9th Amendment and should be repealed (except perhaps the 22nd, 25th and 26th) because some of these violate the principles of the Declaration of Independence (e.g. the 14th and 16th Amendments).

 

Thus far, over the past years, I doubt you have done as much as remove one gun from the rightful owners. So why do you keep this up?

There's no sense whatsoever in the gun laws you want to enact.

More unsupportable nonsense.

The 2nd is there because the people who put it there knew there'd be people like you.

 

Except, of course, all of these things existed before the 16th, and most of them are currently paid for almost entirely at the state level.
