Redskins cannot move to new stadium unless team name changes: report

As a person from the DC area, and a life-long fan of the team, I don't want the name changed. However, if it must, here is my suggestion: The Washington Founders. Attached is my rough rendition of a logo.

Just change the feathers to quill pens and it would be perfect.

And pretty soon all the names and mascots honoring native Americans will be gone due to uniformed whites project some specious guilt onto them and telling native Americans how they should feel.

I like this, though a potato makes a silly logo. I still think that if the idea is to get rid of offensive names Redskins should be kept and Washington be trashed.

 

This whole exercise has been a lesson in political terrorism. Look at who has been offended?

NOT the fans.
NOT native Americans.

Who else matters? The ONLY ones should be the fans. It’s been a bunch of snowflakes who couldn’t give a crap about the team and don’t even watch or support them. Idiots for caving to these bullies.

 

Native Americans have asked them to change the mascot/name . . . so the "NOT native Americans" part is definitely incorrect. I find it hard to believe that no fan has said anything as well.

The name is a racial pejorative, no different from calling them the Washington Pasty Crackers. It isn't "bullying" to point this out and advocate for them to change to something else. Most of the "snowflakism" at this point is coming from the reactionary right.

 

Yes, just as it would be "honoring" Europeans to call the team the Washington Pasty Crackers or "honoring" African Americans to call the team the Washington Darkies. After all, we've had lots of Native Americans stand up for how much this name "honors" them . . . right? Right? . . . somewhere? . . . anywhere?

As I posted earlier by 90% Native Americans do NOT support changing the name. Here we had a sign of RESPECT for Native Americans and the liberal white man is demanding that not be done anymore.

Just like "cracker" is a sign of respect for white people and "darkie" is a sign of respect for black people. I covered this. An actual response would be interesting. Meanwhile, try going and calling a Native American on the street a "Redskin" and find out how much they feel "respected" by your slur. You guys are hilarious, I'll give you that.

And what measures did they take to actually verify that these people who responded were actually Native Americans instead of just self-reported Native Americans? Also, who said anything about "outlawing" the term? Why make something like that up?

 

The only "Native Americans" you've posted are from a poll behind a paywall, and even then, I'm asking you to provide evidence that the pollsters were screened to be actual Native Americans. For all I know, they polled 100 Elizabeth Warren types.

Also, "redskin" is a pejorative. If you want the equivalent for a white person, it would be closer to "cracker." Would you be okay with renaming them the Washington Crackers and having a white person caricatured on their helmets?

 

If most don’t have a problem with it than Native Americans as a whole don’t. Exceptions aren’t the rule and should never be catered to at the expense of those who actually matter. THE FANS!!! If the entirety of the Native American community since the teams inception has been protesting then you might have a point. But it’s not Native Americans making a fuss. It’s stupid snowflake white people with ZERO skin in the game who never gave a crap until yesterday. See what I did there?

Looks like the "Native Americans" in the WaPo survey were based purely on self-identification. Anyone who said they were Native American counted. Again, that would include the Elizabeth Warren types.

Only those that responded that they were 100% Native American/Alaskan Native were then asked the questions about the Redskins."
