And thus DIDN'T lose his life. There was no sacrifice.

    True.

But, what comes after that agreement is still important.

We're founded on religious plurality. Failing to work together purely because we agreed to disagree on god is not a legitimate direction.

Well, virgin birth, raising from the dead and other miracles were not uncommon in the era. Zoroaster and others have similar stories.

I know Christianity, Islam and Hinduism have been quite successful. However, you can't really expect that everyone is going to be converted to one of the various world religions simply due to claims that are so thoroughly unverifiable.

Again, I think this is an area where we have to agree to disagree and find that we CAN work together toward meaningful objectives even though the various ideas of the supernatural aren't all held in common.

"Religion in the USA" - this topic has to include the concept that our founding principles of separation of church and state, of religious plurality, of rule of law, etc. ARE the fundamentals for our nation.

Yep, our founders had the wisdom to separate church and state. And many were religious men. No doubt they were very aware of the Church of England and the political power they held, even within a monarchy. They wanted to avoid that, apparently. Religious persecution of the other sects of christianity was happening in england and was the reason for these sects to get the hell out of england so as to practice their faith unimpeded.

Your illogical fallacy is entirely based upon the ASSUMPTION that there is some imaginary "outside" that you cannot provide any shred of evidence to support it's existence.

Get back to us when you have any credible evidence for this imaginary "outside", m'kay?

Well if you want to be technical about it he did sacrifice a long weekend by staying in his man cave so people would think that he was dead! ;)

i am not "expecting" people to be converted. I expect them to be polite, and if they can't do that they can't expect a whole lot of cooperation from me. I'll go my own way

I hate to be the one to break this to you, but "separation of church and state" is not in the declaration of independence or the constitution.

The 1st Amendment guarantees the right of We the People to having a SECULAR government free from any organized religion.

Yes, that is the LEGAL equivalent of separation of church and state.

How many times has science been wrong through the years? Yet some act as though science is infallible.

That's not what it says, it says there will be no laws establishing a state Church, which means all religions will be treated equally under the law. Are you going to torture this issue the way you tortured global warming?

I meant in a larger sense than some individual failing to treat you with the respect you deserve.

Example: The issue of abortion LAW has dominated the conversation on reducing the number of abortions in America - dividing the population on an issue despite the fact that ALL Americans would like there to be fewer abortions.

By deciding that the Christian response must be laws against women, the conversation gets overwhelmed by the efforts made for this one methodology that most of America sees as being necessary to use in only a limited way.

We COULD be working together on this! Other nations do, and are more successful than are we!

    Wrong!

Science is SELF CORRECTING and please provide us with the names of those who "act as though science is infallible".

Then again theists "act as though" their imaginary deity "is infallible" so it is probably just projecting on their part.

Given your abject failures in the past to substantiate any of your posts with credible sources I have zero expectation that you will do any differently this time ergo your inane drivel is ignored for obvious reasons.

    Have a nice day!

Do you know what a Priest does? What do you think, do you think I handle snakes or sacrifice chickens?

No, I teach people how to live happy, safe, productive lives whether there is a life after this one or not, so they won't be as miserable as atheists are.

Another fallacious assumptions with ZERO credible substantiation.

The happiest nations on earth are also the ones with the least religion.

People who are always demanding "substantiation" wear me out. These things are common knowledge to anybody with even a moderate education, you act like you have never heard of them.

Be that as it may, I have no intention of proving anything to someone I know is just going to stick their fingers in their ears and say "lalalala I can't hear you".
