I don't bust my ass for myself, I do fit my kids.

Most parents do, including the Waltons.

Wages are not dependent on profits. When they are, employees can help pay off the debt and risk of failed business.

Unless you believe in double standards.

They do. When a business fails, they lose their jobs and incomes. And many or most long before it fails.

I worked for Union Carbide in one of the most contaminated, radioactive uranium factories in the world. When they lost the prime government contract where gas releases and material spills were commonplace it was after the unions, the new OSHA and EPA forced them to clean up the place. Guess what? The separation units and buildings were already so contaminated that everything....even the concrete foundations had to be methodically taken apart, fragmented or destroyed and sent to other specialty companies for thorough decontamination and destruction. The reason for the contract change and subsequent activity was this......in India of all places.

"In the early hours of December 3,1984, methylisocyanate (MIC) gas leaked from a plant owned, managed and operated by Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) in the central India city of Bhopal. According to government figures, approximately 5,200 people died and several thousand other individuals suffered permanent or partial disabilities."

As we speak still the worst industrial accident in history.

UCC lost our government contract and others in 1985.....Martin Marietta assumed ours.

Back in those days companies did as they pleased and ordinary workers paid the price. They would be doing the same things today if not for the work back then of the unions and the government controls put in place.

The real entitlement mentality comes from people who don't think people deserve a living wage for the work they do. They feel so entitled that they feel only some fields deserve a living wage.

Lots of psychopathic values come from this group of entitled jackwags.

If a job is necessary, for a business to operate, then a living wage is necessary. Time to put an end to the exploitation of other human beings by not paying them a living wage. Slavery was done away with long ago here in the US. Some people want to keep it alive by the wages they want to pay. Some people just don't feel right if they cannot exploit another human being. Human beings are commodities.

This is just being argumentative and the typical liberal tactic of trying to turn something around against conservatives because they think they're above being criticized in any way shape or form.

Two fish sandwiches, one medium fry and a medium iced tea . . . Nope, no problem there. How about the skills of the burger flippers or the person tossing burgers in a bag? I would doubt any of those burgers tossers have completed four years as an undergrad and two more years in a gradate program. Oh wait . . . I have.

So, there is seemingly no explanation why you seem to have such a difficulty getting your request understood while I don't.

depends on how complicated your order is.... if you order it normal... it's pretty rare you get a wrong order.... if you have extra this, none of that.... add bacon, on non-toasted bun no salt...... Yeah, you just fried a min wager's brain.

that is the very definition of MIN wage, the least wage you can get.. bottom of the barrel, if you want to pay min wage, that is what you get, pay a living wage if you want more

if min wage wont even hire him, then he falls in the safety net, welfare, the worst place to be in the USA

    pure conjecture.

I make 6 figures and don't really care about my job and or employer...................

I do have the pride to do my best at the rate of pay the I NEGOTIATED.

I do not feel I would deserve 15 dollars an hour to flip burgers.

---I agree that wages should be negotiated between an employer and the employee. However, I'm tired of the "deserve" rhetoric. This is capitalism and its't not about what someone deserves. It is about what they can secure for themselves. Who gives a (*)(*)(*)(*) whether or not someone thinks you deserve something. Do children born into wealthy families "deserve" their advantages? Of course not, but that doesn't stop them from enjoying them. Likewise, if a burger flipper can secure a $15 an hour wage for himself that is his business. It won't happen and the government shouldn't mandate it. On the off chance that it did, good for him.

---Every time we talk about top earners we get so called conservatives espousing Capitalist ideology which has nothing to do about whether or not you deserve something. When the bottom earners come up suddenly we're discussing what people deserve. If we really cared about people getting what they deserve we'd live in a much nicer world.

---If it helps, I lean toward the conservative spectrum

---It's not a jab. I agree with conservatives when it comes to wages and how they are settled. If someone earns a billion dollars, awesome. Good on them. Someone in this (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up world is having a good time. If a "burger flipper" secures a better wage, good on him. I don't think what either party deserves should have any influence of what their paid, excepting the fair opinion of the person paying them. I don't like reading message after message talking about top earners being paid what they can secure for themselves and that being the nature of Capitalism and then seeing message after message about what bottom earners "deserve".

    Big deal.

Owners often lose their houses and file bankruptcy.

Picking up your last pay check and moving on is not nearly the same thing

Then why do we have people in good paying jobs getting fired for stuff like tardiness and .

I do think, your person that takes pride in their work, even when they are 16 flipping burgers, are the same ones that work their way OUT of burger-flipping type jobs.... so what you eventually end up with if they are middle-aged burger flippers are people that made poor choices in life, or have a poor work effort.... There's always a reason they remain flipping burgers into their 30s

Jeez they way you conservatives just dismiss the lives of common people just makes me shake my head.

So what if thousands of working people lose their jobs, their income, and their livelihoods. Not bid deal. They're just peons.

By the way, I asked you what you thought the delivery guy should make an hour. You never responded.

Since he left a $5 tip and it is reasonable to assume that a single delivery isn't going to take more than an hour we can assume that he thinks they should make at least $12.25/hr.

    [MIN wage] $7.25 + [TIP] $5.00 = $12.25

Factor in that more than one delivery per hour is highly likely and you have a delivery driver making $15+ per hour. The OP may not think that the guy deserves that much but he certainly assured that he got paid that much or more, oddly enough.

As an aside, I wouldn't be surprised to hear that the delivery driver was a recent PhD graduate moonlighting Dave Ramsey style to pay off his student loans. :)

You know......I'd love to see this bunch of spoiled right wingers work the same jobs they're criticizing. That would be a real blowout.

One of my best friends and I worked shift work together back in the 1960's and early 70's and he tended bar part time to make it while raising four daughters. In 1971 he moved to the Mississippi gulf coast and started a company which planned and built metal buildings. He's a multi millionaire and has a nice house on the biggest golf course in the state. When he was tending bar the girls would bring up multi drink orders and then marvel at the fact that he essentially had the order filled by the time they finished telling the last order. Some of these forum heroes might be able to operate a keyboard but most of them can't walk and chew gum at the same time.
