He's not wrong about the press needing a spanking though, although I'd add that everything he said about the left leaning press rings true for the right leaning press as well.

The heart of the problem is and will always be that the press is a business and because of that, reporting the truth is not what they are loyal to. They are loyal to making profits, and narratives sell better.

You and I are so politically far apart that there is nothing I can say to change your mind. With that said, why don't we agree to dis-agree?

First off, I wasn't complaining about anything. I was simply outlining the reality of a MSM that has largely abandoned journalistic integrity to pursue political activism on their front page news sections.

Expecting the NY Times and like MSM media to "sort out the truth and expose lies" is more laughable than the preverbal Wolf guarding the Hen House. The NYT in particular has publicly admitted a vendetta against Trump because he doesn't fit their view of what an acceptable POTUS should be. Does it surprise you that one of the major mouthpieces of the Left takes the role of determining what's good vs. bad on our behalf, instead of just reporting news that is sourced and reported with balance and integrity? I suspect that you don't care. It's another example of why we have such a great divide in our country.

Of course that was a complaint and you continued with further complaint for another entire paragraph? Why would you claim otherwise? Do you not want to be seen a a complainer? Oh well...

I'd love to see a link to this NY Times vendetta claim you made as well.

As far as the NYT and some vague "like MSM" nonsense...they don't HAVE "one view" as you love to claim. Although considering the fact that you probably consider the circular lie machine (one blog reports something stupid and another reports on their nonsensical report right on up to Fox) that is right wing media to be factual ....well.....

You still seem to be struggling with difference between "complaining" and simply stating a current reality. I'll state that reality again -- MSM journalistic integrity is now, in many instances, taking a back seat to political activism that should solely be the purview of the Opinion section. Please focus on the message instead of attaching something emotional to it. You're only obstructing the statement instead of addressing it.

I'm surprised you need a link to the NYT's piece I referenced. It's provocative and provided a weak rationale for their open war against Trump:

    https://www.nytimes.com/2016/08/08/...n-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news&_r=1

    From the article:

"If you’re a working journalist and you believe that Donald J. Trump is a demagogue playing to the nation’s worst racist and nationalistic tendencies, that he cozies up to anti-American dictators and that he would be dangerous with control of the United States nuclear codes, how the heck are you supposed to cover him?

Because if you believe all of those things, you have to throw out the textbook American journalism has been using for the better part of the past half-century, if not longer, and approach it in a way you’ve never approached anything in your career. If you view a Trump presidency as something that’s potentially dangerous, then your reporting is going to reflect that. You would move closer than you’ve ever been to being oppositional. That’s uncomfortable and uncharted territory for every mainstream, nonopinion journalist I’ve ever known, and by normal standards, untenable."

Wow, unbelievable. It's not the job of NYT "Journalists" to decide if Trump is a demagogue with racist tendencies and therefore throw out the textbook rules of American journalism. That's nothing more than self permission to pursue witch hunts without any accountability. If the NYT Editorial Board wants to go down that path, it's their prerogative. But not for the Journalists tasked with providing news that can be trusted for being untainted and fair.

Given this, don't complain about Trump holding the NYT and other like minded MSM accountable. It's more than his right, especially since the progressive left refuses to do so.

Given the glaring absence of critical thinking skills amongst the extremist alt right sycophants there is some validity to that assumption.

How did those legendary critical thinking skills of yours work out for you with regards to the election result predictions? :roflol:

It's amazing how people who for 2 years have been absolutely wrong on absolutely every issue still bleat about the critical thinking skills of those who outsmarted them at every step of the process.

Doubly ironic since you completely ignore that the right wing media has been guilty of political activism for the past two decades or so and you then go on to quote an OPINION instead of providing any actual examples of what you allege to be "political activist" journalism.

Gerrymandering and voter suppression have nothing whatsoever to do with "outsmarting" anyone during an election campaign.
The polls accurately reflected that a MAJORITY of We the People REJECTED your wannabe dictator.

Given that the pollsters were unaware of the impact of the gerrymandering and voter suppression would mean to the outcome it is hardly surprising that they did not factor that into their polling models.

It isn't possible to apply critical thinking skills to something one has no knowledge about beforehand.

What right wing media do you speak of? I'm not talking about political commentary, but actual journalism. Again, please site specifically what you reference.

I provided an actual admission from the NYT that they planned to take an activist position against Trump in their news reporting, and they followed through on their commitment. Are you calling their admission and intent a lie??

Sorry, It's more on you to prove it isn't so.

So convicted felon James O'Keefe did not set about engaging in extremist right wing politically activist journalism aided and abetted by Breitbart?

Unless you can provide an equivalent EXAMPLE of this happening on the left all you have is an OPINION from a single NYT columnist and nothing else.

No question that Trump is sleazy.. He's also poorly educated. Pence, Mattis, Tillerson and McMasters are all opposing his idiot rhetoric.

There isn't enough money to buy Trump any class.. and he has emasculated many of his rivals.. He is being contained now.. and his circle of trusted advisors is small.. Its Ivanka, Bannon and Jared Kushner.

Is he still alive? I thought Seal Team 6 members would all be dead after Obama and Biden outed them in a display of treason unparalleled in the nation's history. Hmmm. They must've assigned an army of Secret Service to protect the targets Obama and Biden drew on their backs.

William McRaven, a retired four-star admiral and former Navy SEAL, defended journalists this week, calling President Donald Trump's denunciation of the media as "the enemy of the American people" the "greatest threat to democracy" he's seen in his lifetime.

That's coming from a man who's seen major threats to democracy.

"We must challenge this statement and this sentiment that the news media is the enemy of the American people," McRaven said, according to the Daily Texan. "This sentiment may be the greatest threat to democracy in my lifetime."

Trump's "start extreme and moderate over time" is a leadership technique called "pace and lead". And he has done it over and over again. Essentially you establish trust amongst those you want to lead until they voluntarily follow, then you lead them to a more moderate position.

As an example, his loud campaign rhetoric about rounding up and deporting all the illegals gained him the following of the like minded, and he slowly moderated them to a 'deport only those who have committed crimes' position, which is reasonable and not far from Hillary's.

There has been almost no opposition for this moderation from the formerly 'send em all back' crowd. That's what "pace and lead" is. You match the pace of the extreme rhetoric, gain their following, and then lead them to moderation.

His detractors will call this "flip-flopping", because that makes them hay, but it's not flip-flopping, it's moderating.
