Without commodity backing the dollar is not redeemable in anything but itself. It is nothing but a symbol. There are no limits on the number of dollars government and the Fed can create. The more you have of a product, it is not worth as much. The Fed prints money at an outrageous rate, which inflates the currency.

Many of the founders had a disdain for paper currency after the Continental dollar. Many of the founders also opposed a central banking system. In fact, Thomas Jefferson said a private central bank issuing the public currency is a greater menace to the liberties of the people than a standing army. A large majority of the American people, as well, up until the 1930s, disdained paper money, respected commodity money, and disapproved of a central bank's monopoly control of money creation and interest rates. The Fed's credit-creating habits of the 1920s not only contributed to the Great Depression, but prolonged it. Yet sound money was blamed for all the suffering. That's why people hardly objected when Roosevelt and his statist friends confiscated gold and radically debased the currency, ushering in the age of worldwide fiat currencies with which the international economy struggles today.

Investors around the world recognise gold as one of the most reliable hedges against inflation. The value of gold, in terms of the real goods and services it can buy, has remained largely stable for decades, if not centuries. In 1900, the gold price was US$20.67/oz. And, in the five years to end-December 2012, the price of gold averaged around US$1,260.8/oz. Prices in 2012 consistently remained well above the US$1,500/oz level and, indexed to 1900 prices, gold has held its value better than any other currency. Gold’s real price has endured a century characterised by sweeping change, inflation and repeated geopolitical shocks. Despite all challenges, it has retained its purchasing power. In contrast, the real value of most currencies has generally declined.
    currencies_in_terms_of_gold_sm_q412.gif

A growing body of research supports gold's reputation as a protector of wealth against the ravages of inflation. Numerous economists have demonstrated that, over the long term, through both inflationary and deflationary periods, gold has consistently maintained its purchasing power.

Of course experience has shown that gold can deviate from its long-run inflation-hedge price. During a sustained buoyant period, as is currently the case, it can even offer opportunities for impressive returns.

Paper currency not redeemable in anything but itself and printed at a high rate by the Fed is what has caused inflation. It was a big mistake to get off the gold standard.

And that is your response, a bunch of talking points.

So tell me, what happens to your currency when somebody manipulates the market? What happens to your currency when the commodity you picked suddenly rises or falls in value?

Part of the big problem in currencies during the Great Depression is in how 2 countries had backed their currency.

First, we have Germany. They were pulled off of the Gold Standard, and had nothing to back their currency except the value of the country itself (which was not much after being drained of resources after loosing the Great War). As such their currency became worthless, and they had crippling inflation. Inflation to the point where employees were paid twice a day so their money would not become more worthless between starting time and quitting time. You needed a handfull of bills just to buy a stick of gum.

The US had the opposite problem. The currency was backed with gold, and gold became more valuable. This made the currency more valuable, and the economy dried up. The US did not go through Inflation during the Depression, it went through Deflation. Prices dropped in an attempt to chase the decreasing supply of money. And as less money circulated, jobs vanished as companies closed their doors.

If you want to see a drastic example of how this could impact the US, remember that our currency was not back just with Gold but with Silver. Most of the currency for hundreds of years was actually backed by Silver, hence silver coins and the "Silver Certificate".

I remember it was once common to see silver coins in circulation, but that is no longer the case. This is because in 1979 2 brothers attempted to corner the world silver market. In just 1 year we saw silver skyrocket from around $6 an ounce to $50 an ounce (then plummet back to $15 an ounce). now imagine what would have happened to the US economy if we were still on the Silver Standard at that time.

First, massive deflation as the currency jumped over 700% in value in less then a year. Then massive inflation as the value of currency then dropped to 10% of that amount.

As I said, the reason why countries pulled away from commodity backing is that the market is to easy to manipulate. It only took 2 people to cause that impact on the silver market. Imagine what would happen if we went to a Gold Standard, then say China decided to first buy up all the gold it could (raising the value of our currency), then suddenly dumped it (causing our currency then to plumet in value).

This is not rocket science, and there is a reason why we have the most used currency in the world. Heck, many countries do not even have their own currency, prefering to use our own because of it's stability.

So once again, how would returning to a commodity standard prevent anything of what you just described, and not actually make things worse?

stands up and gives standing ovation.:clapping:

that my friend is WHY the elite did not care if Obama got reelected or if Romney did because they are both backers of the corrupt Federal reserve which Paul vehemetely opposes.as long as it was not paul in the white house, they were happy.

btw, have you noticed, that the cat got the tongue of the Romney/Obama apologists after I posted that video?:grin:

Here is another reason the elite went to the troubles they did to sabotoge ron pauls strategy to win the republican nomination coming up with last minute rule changes at the RNC convention.

And even worse, the elites cause Paulite's spelling and grammar to be messed up, so that they look like ranting, raving lunatics.

No, GW Bush was not radical right. He was moderate right. (not moderate, but moderate right).

The Tea Party is a bunch of radicals. I wish they went back to their roots, which was concentrating on fiscal issues, not social issues which have taken them over.

The legislation of the past 15 yrs is mixed. Some (tax cuts) are very conservative. Others (Obamacare) are very liberal.

Ron Paul's military stance cost him the election, but I think he knew it and stuck to it anyway. Got to like that.

My point was more that the American system encourages people to ignore their actual preferences when they vote. I can guarantee that lots of people like the minor parties but are forced to submit a tactical vote to avoid being irrelevant. Most Americans are for both economic and social liberty - after all.

Candidates don't win elections to enact policies, they enact policies to win elections.

Yea, that is about the level of response that I respected.

Why not just admit it is the fault of the Jews?

Which brings us to the other reason why Ru Paul (sorry, Ron Paul) is unelectable. He is a flaming racist and bigot. I doubt there is any group he has not offended, other then "Real White Men".

And your response is about what I expected. There is no real substance, so just post a cartoon in a klan suit and make claims about racism. You remind me of the liberals making fun of Sarah Palin for saying she could see Russia from her house when it was actually Tina Fey who said it. What substance do you have to support your claims of Paul's racism? Is it the fact he wants to cut foreign aid, to include Israel? If that's the case, you should know this. Israelis have even stated without U.S. aid their economy would not be enabled and dependent and would be able to thrive on its own. They would also not have to answer to us when acting in their defense. Look how many times they acted militarily against a threat and our government pressured them to stand down. This is hardly respect for their sovereignity. Also, we currently give at least four times as much aid to neighboring enemies of Israel than we give to Israel, so cutting aid across the board would actually benefit Israel.

As far as the Fed goes, I am opposed to the Fed because it is a central bank, not because of any Jewish involvement. I don't have a problem with Jews and do not oppose Jews. I oppose the central banking system and the Fed, no matter who is involved. It is probably the case with most people who oppose the Fed. Most who oppose the Fed are constitutionalists and they believe in liberty and oppose the central banking system in the same respect many of the founders, to include Jefferson, opposed the central banking system. It has nothing to do with animosity toward Jews.

Now, what basis do you have for claiming Paul is a racist?

    Well, you asked for it.

”We don’t think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That’s true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such.”

“What else do we need to know about the political establishment than that it refuses to discuss the crimes that terrify Americans on grounds that doing so is racist? Why isn’t that true of complex embezzling, which is 100 percent white and Asian?”

”Given the inefficiencies of what DC laughingly calls the criminal justice system, I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal. These aren’t my figures, that is the assumption you can gather from” the report.”

“The Criminals who terrorize our cities – in riots and on every non-riot day – are not exclusively young black males, but they largely are.”

“I wouldn’t vote against getting rid of the Jim Crow laws.”

“Opinion polls consistently show that only about 5 percent of blacks have sensible political opinions, i.e. support the free market, individual liberty and the end of welfare and affirmative action.”

“Immigrants can spread diseases for which we may have no immunity. There is also the question of crime and culture. Many immigrants come from countries with different legal structures and are not willing to behave in the way we expect American citizens to behave.”

“It is human nature that like attracts likes. But whites are not allowed to express this same human impulse. Except in a de facto sense, there can be no white schools, white clubs, or white neighborhoods. The political system demands white integration, while allowing black segregation.”

It's the hip-hop thing to do among the urban youth who play unsuspecting whites like pianos. The youth simply walk up to a car they like, pull a gun, tell the family to get out, steal their jewelry and wallets, and take the car to wreck. Such actions have ballooned in recent months.

Boy, it sure burns me to have a national holiday for that pro-communist philanderer Martin Luther King. I voted against this outrage time and time again as a Congressman. What an infamy that Ronald Reagan approved it! We can thank him for our annual Hate Whitey Day.

A mob of black demonstrators, led by the "Rev." Al Sharpton, occupied and closed the Statue of Liberty recently, demanding that New York be renamed Martin Luther King City 'to reclaim it for our people.'
Hmmm. I hate to agree with the Rev. Al, but maybe a name change is in order. Welfaria? Zooville? Rapetown? Dirtburg? Lazyopolis?
But Al, the Statue of Liberty? Next time, hold that demonstration at a food stamp bureau or a crack house.

He was also a comsymp, if not an actual party member, and the man who replaced the evil of forced segregation with the evil of forced integration.
King, the FBI files show, was not only a world-class adulterer, he also seduced underage girls and boys. The Rev. Ralph David Abernathy revealed before his death that King had made a pass at him many years before.
And we are supposed to honor this "Christian minister" and lying socialist satyr with a holiday that puts him on a par with George Washington?

Order was only restored in L.A. when it came time for the blacks to pick up their welfare checks three days after rioting began. The "poor" lined up at the post office to get their handouts (since there were no deliveries)--and then complained about slow service.
What if the checks had never arrived? No doubt the blacks would have fully privatized the welfare state through continued looting. But they were paid off and the violence subsided.

“It turns out that the brilliant [Bobby Fischer], who has all the makings of an American hero, is very politically incorrect on Jewish questions, for which he will never be forgiven, even though he is a Jew. Thus we are not supposed to herald him as the world’s greatest chess player.”

Remember, you asked for it. But I guess those are not racist at all, because everything he says is true and correct.

And you think there is any kind of "proper context" for even half of those quotes? I can see your point on some of them, but for over half of them there is no excuseable "proper context", especially when he has made quotes like this time and time again.

This guy should not be in the Libertarian Party, he should be in the Native American party, also known as the "Know-Nothings".

    Don't forget about this.

22 Reasons Ron Paul is NOT a racist.

Facts are facts. You can either research them and then make up your mind or continue with baseless claims. It's up to you. As far as the issues go, how do you stand with Ron Paul's views? What is your take on limited government, civil liberties and foreign policy?

there you go again as always, showing you reading comprehension problems constantly evading facts and changing the subject like all government apologists do.:D

as for this last part,I only have great knowledge on 9/11 and JFK so I will limit my posts to that.Unlike you,i dont evade facts and change the subject.Yeah 9/11 was committed by terrorists alright, the terrorists are the neocons in the Bush administration:roll:

you havent been following any of rightwings post because he spelled it out ealier that the bush administration got what they wanted with PNAC which you have done no research into obviously.Oh and as far as the grassy knoll? only idiots would dismiss there was a shooter behind the picket fence on the grassy knoll.:weed::grin::laughing: :roflol:

many witnesses saw a man firing a rifle behind the picket fence and I have read over a hundred books on it and some show clearly there is indeed a man behind the picket fence with a rifle.:roflol:

oh and even the HSCA investigation in the 70's concluded the warren commission was wrong.that there was a second shooter.concluding his death was the result of a probable conspiracy. The lead investigater Robert Blakey even wrote a book about it that it was elements of organized crime that did it.

do you ever get tired of getting yoru arse handed to you on a platter evading facts and then changing the subject?:roflol:
