Gee. Do you suppose he really needs it? Generally, they like to keep the number clearance at a minimum level, especially, top secret special category clearances.

If he has a need, not a problem. Providing the expanded background check is no more than ten years old, getting a new clearance is relatively simple.

 

Look, they keep former high level intelligence officers up to date in case someone needs their expertise. It's been going on for decades. You don't create a gap in that lineage for purely political reasons.

 

However, it was not obvious he was employed by MSNBC. If we had omitted FOX under similar circumstances you would have screamed bloody murder.

 

Read what I said. If their expanded background investigation is up to date, it takes about five minutes to give them a new clearance.

 

That's not the way it works. It's a continuing process of updating so someone has the whole picture.

That is exactly how it works. You get a expanded background investigation. That information stays on file with the FBI. If there is no problem, that same background investigation is good for a new clearance. Been there, done that.
