Well, Elaine Caio (McConnell's wife) is secretary of Transportation. So they're on the payroll.

I doubt that either of them are engaged in the wholesale graft that seems to be the pattern elsewhere in this Administration.

    Trump: I 'never respected' Brennan

For a career intel professional dedicated to protecting the country what could matter less than the opinion of a pathologically lying draft dodger?

Remember that this is the same man who pointedly refused any of the regular intelligence briefings between the time he became the GOP nominee until the Inauguration. He is the ONLY Presidential candidate in US history to refuse security briefings.

When the press noticed and asked him about it, he claimed that he was smarter than any of his intelligence people.

I am sure that that first meeting with Sally Yates and Comey (one that he couldn't dodge), was the one in which they outlined what they had on him.

I hope the majority of the country, and the media most especially, continues to refuse to accept this outrageous behavior as the "new normal" and calls it out for what it is.............unprecedented and unacceptable.

How is that an excuse? I am just stating the facts. If they do not have an immediate need for a clearance, take it away. Unless something has came up which says they should not have one, they can provide them a new clearance or even a temporary clearance in a very short time.

And again, how long to think it will take to give them a clearance, if they need it?

Well I'm sure these individuals have it wrong, and you have it right:

Top former intelligence bosses sign letter supporting John Brennan

Last Updated Aug 17, 2018 12:05 PM EDT

Thirteen former senior intelligence officials, including 12 former CIA directors and deputy directors and one former director of national intelligence, have signed a letter of support for former CIA director John Brennan, calling the signal sent by the White House's decision to strip him of his security clearance "inappropriate" and "deeply regrettable."

"We feel compelled to respond in the wake of the ill-considered and unprecedented remarks and actions by the White House," the senior offici

The letter's signees include former Directors of Central Intelligence Robert Gates, William Webster, George Tenet and Porter Goss; former CIA directors Gen. Michael Hayden, Leon Panetta and Gen. David Petraeus; former director of national intelligence James Clapper; and former deputy CIA directors John McLaughlin, Stephen Kappes, Avril Haines, David Cohen and Michael Morell, who is also a CBS News senior national security contributor.

Morell told "CBS This Morning" he helped organized the letter. He said it was "difficult to get the language just right, because there were those of us who believed that what John has done since he left government and how he has chosen to use his voice is appropriate, and actually required in a democracy, and there are those of us who believe that he is acting inconsistent with the stature of a former director, so it was tough to get that right."

But, Morrell said, everyone who signed agreed that Brennan has served his country well and saved lives, and the use of a national security tool for "political purposes" is "inappropriate" and "unprecedented."

The signatories include past CIA directors of every administration going back to President Reagan's.

Their letter is the latest swell in a chorus of disapproval from former senior national security officials, lawmakers and free speech advocates generated by the White House's decision, announced Wednesday by White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, to revoke Brennan's clearance and thereby his access to classified information.

You obviously don't know anything about security clearances.

Not only is this unprecedented tin pot dictator stuff, but Trump made no bones about the fact that he did it as a matter of political revenge, further undscoring his petty and vindictive personality.

It is also an act of material damage. Security clearances are not that easy to get. The process can take months (often does).

And having a security clearance is a valuable commodity when it comes to seeking employment on K Street, the Hill or anywhere in the Defense, or Security Industrial complex.

Of course, if the current Administration were to need to reach out to any of the people Trump plans to attack for advice on any future foreign policy or intelligence crisis, than the could not be read in on the current status of things because of Trump's tantrum.

Taking away a security clearance does not mean it can never be gotten back. The background investigation is not destroyed and that is what takes time and money to accomplish.

Rand Paul for one. He is the one who suggested that Trump should revoke all clearances of people who no longer have a need.
