Personally, I think they should be removed. If you can't control your kids, then you shouldn't be allowed to disrupt everyone else's meal time.

Of course, this is up to the restaurant owner, but I support all of those owners who enact policies like this. No one wants to deal with rowdy children.

EDIT: When I say public, I don't mean government funded restaurants vs privately owned ones. I pretty mean all restaurants open to the public.

Well, probably it's the most decent way to get rid of them.
People eating in a Restaurant have the right to enjoy their meal in a nice smooth atmosphere and not be disturbed by under Age creatures behaving like primates.
    You made your Point.

It's up to the restaurant. However, I find it rude to bring loud children or to leave children running around uncontrolled, especially in finer establishments.

Its entirely up to the restaurant. So I said no assuming it was a state law imposing such action that was being proposed.

i dont think so simply because kids are gonna be noisey, and they are just kids. Their parents are paying just like you so you have no say really. Its up to the restaurant to decide anyways, not some snobby ass customer who forgot he or she was once a child as well.

now if the kid is throwing (*)(*)(*)(*) at people or running around the restaurant like a bat out of hell and the parents dont do anything about it thats a different story. but a kid just making noise.....mind your own damned business and eat your food you butthead.

    U mad bro?

It usually is the parent's fault if the kid acting like a little demon, though. Whenever I would act out as a child, my mom put an end to that through discipline.

well yeah my mom too, but you got to watch out for that because the same people who will (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) about your kid acting out of line will also call the cops if you decide to discipline them lol.

and im not mad at all, i just dont get bothered because a baby is trying to talk or kids do as kids do within means of course. kids are gonna laugh, make weird sounds or weird comments, but as long as they arent going bat (*)(*)(*)(*) crazy im not gonna worry about it.

Absolutely they should either be removed or put in a glass jug with a cork.

About six months ago a nice, rather upscale, locally owned restaurant which I frequent implemented a no-kids-under-twelve policy. There was some public outrage and parents threatened to boycott it. Nevertheless, the restaurant now has more customers than it can accomodate. Now there's a long wait-time which I really don't like. Sometimes I think I prefer the spoiled, squealing little brats to the long wait time for a table. Well ... no not really.

Another problem with little, terrorist, barbarous brats in a restaurant is the fact that most parents think the antics of their brats is cute.

Now that my favorite restaurant is brat-free, the restaurant is so crowded that nobody goes there anymore.

This sounds like an untapped market. I'm guessing the success they've had may cause others to follow suit.

yes they should be removed, I (*)(*)(*)(*)ing hate annoying kids where ever they are. Preferably they should be banned from all public spaces.

This isn't a very big town. Other than franchised restaurants, there's not many good, locally owned restaurants.

I saw on TV and read in the media about kid-free restaurants in other states that are very successful.

The irony about the restaurant in this town is that many of the parents are now regular diners at the restaurant they protested. I guess almost everyone wants to enjoy a nice, quiet peaceful dinner once in a while.

Its up to the restaurant. A family-oriented restaurant is expected to have kid noise. But if a kid stands in the middle of the dining room and purposely screams an ear piercing scream like my 3 year old stepson did during a tantrum---of course that can't be tolerated in any restaurant.

There are some very high dollar restaurants that don't allow kids and the adults must be dressed appropriately with tie and gown. Its up to the owner and how he or she wants to position the restaurant.

The management can decide when an adult or a child is disrupting the clientele and act accordingly.

    Really its all just commonsense.

It's interesting that the feds haven't addressed this (banning children in restaurants).

Restaurant owners must make their businesses available without discriminating against race, color, religion or national origin. But I see no mention of children.

Conversely, a property owner (landlord, apartments/rental homes), can not refuse to rent to tenants with children, or if the prospective tenant is expecting.

My guess is, if this gains momentum and more restaurant owners follow suite, it's just a matter of time before it hits the court.

If they can't behave, leave them home.

No one finds your kids freaking out to be entertaining.

True, unless the property is an elderly property in which case only the elderly and disabled may reside there.

Depends on how 'noisy.' I have been in restaurants where it was so loud a screaming kid would go unnoticed. I'd say if the kid is generally being disruptive, interrupting everyone's meal and generally making a little twit of themselves. Get up, grap the kid by the collar and escort him/her outside and be sure to make it embarrassing as you can. Too bad if they didn't finish too. Next time they'll probably behave a little better. You have to expose kids to public environments in order to teach them how not to behave like little tyrants.

Kids are going to be disruptive to point. That's just kids being kids. However the ones who are completely out of control are a different matter. I came up with an idea when worked at a grocery store. Create a policy for any parent who choose to do business there to have to wear a shock collar. Any time the kids act up, zap! Unfortunately management never went for it.

It's up to the business owner. But in theaters, there should be a federal ban on crying babies. The military should be sent in to drag out the horrible, selfish parents and beat them in the street. :clapping:

    - - - Updated - - -

My siblings and I were never disruptive at restaurants. Unless it's a baby, you can train it to not be a little brat at a restaurant. Most parents are just stupid and lazy.

This is one thing that I don't care for is when parents let their kids scream. It's bad enough if they stand up in the seat or argue with their parents but screaming kids are nerve wrecking.

They could have a "family" section in restaurants. I doubt that would fly because they would probably include a couple. Maybe they should make more comfortable bar seats and extend the bar.

How about we just ban these families after so many warnings? Heehee.

No, parents that let their children get unruly and scream ought to be slapped. I see it everywhere, especially in grocery stores. They can at least take the child outside and give them a "time out". I think a lot of parents are just plain rude.

If the restaurant owner wants the kid out then so be it.

I'd only have a problem with loud kids if it were a formal setting.

I like it. I think there is a different way of dealing with it. When the lil noisemakers start going nuts, video it on your smart phone. Ask the waiter to see the manager. When the manager comes over, tell him the noise is ruining your meal because you didn't come to his fine eatery just for the food. The brat's killing the atmosphere. Since your paying for the ambiance as well as the food, a 75% discount on the bill would be in order. Have your dining partner looking at the video while you speak to the manager. If he/she is resistant to the reduction advise him/her the video will be on the internet by night's end with an explanation of what happened and where. More often than not they won't charge you at all.

Competent babysitters in my area get $11 an hour. It's well worth the extra $33 to insure a nice evening is had by all.

I agree entirely. People work hard all week to enjoy a nice meal in a restaurant on the weekend. The last thing that they want is to sit next to a screaming infant/child and their extremely inconsiderate parents that have the superhuman ability to ignore them.
