These were criminals who couldn't have purchased firearms from lawful retailers or through lawful p2p transactions.

They weren't citizens, and they all had criminal records.

There is literally no more measure of "gun control" that could have stopped them.

They're only source was buying firearms outside of the law.

Now how exactly would you enforce "gun control" laws via registration on people who are already ignoring the registration process?

 

I would arrest those the guns are registered to. And make an example out of them

 

So if I had a gun stolen (and I'd report it as stolen ASAP) and it was used in a crime you'd want me arrested?

Aside from that begin a gross violation of civil rights, how does it prevent shootings?

This has been the point all along: Registration doesn't prevent anything, it just makes the cleanup easier.

But are these school shooters going unidentified? No.

The people who use guns to kill and get away with it are mostly located in areas of high crime where its easy to obtain illegal firearms and where police are overburdened with cases.

There is a reason why Democrat politicians are calling for mass registration and it has nothing to do with preventing shootings.

Its about creating a bureaucracy, that's the goal here.

They want another large bureaucracy that can/will eventually be empowered with the ability to dictate who is allowed to have their rights, and to what extent.

Obama tried to do this already by binding the SSA with the NICS - Trump had to overturn that unconstitutional action.

Now in the meantime the primary goal of this bureaucracy would be to infringe upon peoples 2nd amendment right in a very subtle way: paperwork backlog.

Democrats did this in California and it worked beautifully.

They slowed down the process of background checking, registration, and permit issuing to such an absurdly abusive way that it was declared an obscene and intentional Constitutional violation.

(Imagine if a state government intentionally orchestrated a 16 month backlog on voter registration, heh, heads would roll.)

They want to do this nation wide as they create another form of backlog: challenges in court.

I wont get into it now, you can look into it if you care, but the degree to which Democrats are creating judicial overlords by instituting these unconstitutional gun laws knowing full well it will take years for them to be pushed to a court that will rule on them properly is such an amazing attack on our freedoms that it should result in people being imprisoned for life.

 

Total nonsense. Thousands of crimes could be prevented with gun registration. That is why the rest of the world does it. And if your gun turns up in a crime and you report it stolen there is an investigation. That plan won't hold water for long

You will be far less likely to see a gun to a criminal if you know it will be used in a crime. You can no longer claim "I didn't know" since every transaction will require a BC. It will REDUCE gun crimes. Not a perfect system....a better one
