The 1911 A1 is still a viable and relevant defense weapon.

    That seems really sad.

I moved close to my sister last year and it has been great being around her and her kids and their kids.

As an armed guard for a guard company, I just finished a graveyard shift last night and got off at dawn this morning.

My sister is a nurse and she has to work today. She has tomorrow (Thanksgiving Friday) off and so do I before my next graveyard shift, so we will have a Thanksgiving ham on Friday noon.

I spent most of today sleeping. I tried to listen to NFL football in the background but I just slept through it all for 12 hours from 7:30 AM to 7:30 PM.

Nice Thanksgiving. @Falena, its not a dude ranch. Privately owned 850 acres thats been in my friend's family since 1939. About 20 miles from Bush's ranch in Crawford. Beautiful, rugged country. Great hunting. Yesterday I saw a wild boar - prob 300 lbs! (I dont hunt, but saw him from the car!)

Heres some pics I took today. Dinner for 20. :)

My parents passed. The family tradition seems to have lasted up to maybe 2000 when my daughter had the final family dinner with me present. It died with her mom become afflicted with Alzheimer's. I eat alone today.

Some people might spend their hard-earned savings on such things, but mostly it's rich people with more money than they know what to do with.

    Had chicken from Walmart. :D

We were on the road and arrived home yesterday about 3PM since I have to be at work Saturday. Knowing this in advance, and not wanting to impose on a relative to cook two T-day meals, I cooked a meal last Friday; Spatchcocked turkey, green bean casserole, cornbread stuffing, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie. While I'd spatchcocked AKA butterflied chickens and cornish game hens, I'd never done a turkey. With the help of the Internet it was a piece of cake. I cooked a 12 lb Turkey in 90 minutes and it came out great.

Same here, Robert... very little family left. Which makes it twice as nice to be invited to join someone elses large and noisy family gathering. ;)

Our tradition is to hunt on thanksgiving day and have a game feast the following Saturday. Usually do a small store bought turkey for sake of tradition but the main meal is goose, duck, dove, and quail. Winter hasn’t pushed the ducks down this far yet but we got a mess of dove and quail. Still have waterfowl in the freeze from last season so we are good to go.

Yup the M&P is S&W's Glock clone.

Glock has changed everything and they are now the new state of the art.

As much as I don't like Glock's I am forced to wear one in my job.

Glocks and Glock clones are very light weight due to the composite hybridization.

I hope S&W has also copied Sig's multiple spring recoil system like Glock has. This offsets the recoil from the lighter weight of the guns.

    You're probably right.

I don't know how the rich live with themselves.

There are so many homeless and hungry poor in the USA and the world that could use a facility to eat and sleep and poop in.

My cousin and I did that once back in 1960. I was just a little kid back then. He got a squirrel and a rabbit. His mom my aunt roasted them with the turkey that year. It was a great Thanksgiving -- the best one I ever had in my life.

My sister is a prohibitionist who is afraid of booze too.

And if I show up with booze on my breath she will kick me out.

Her youngest daughter is a recovering alcoholic and my sister is afraid my bad example will lead to her relapse.
