Have you suggested your sister (not niece) go to an Al-Anon meeting? They'll tell her that her daughter will stand or fall on her own. That relatives can't shield them from the real world, they can only support them in their recovery.

Some research shows that when problem drinkers enter a recovery program, their chances for success are improved when they are supported by family members who are in a family recovery program such as Al‑Anon.

 

My niece has already done all kinds of detox training.

She now lives a tenuous life on the edge of relapse.

in an early scene the Ships Doctor { This is the Titanic }
ordered the Builder of the Ship { who needed to check things
out on her Maiden voyage } to take a nip { shot of whisky }
around early evening.Because the Doctor thought it good
medical advice { having taken a nice belt as well } to end one's
day with a bit of Booze.I remember once the butch cut { haircut }
comic George Gobel was on Johnny Carson and he was
praising the merits of beer.Going so far as to Insist Beer never
hurt anyone.Babies drink a nip of beer before beddie bye.
Beer never even hurt a baby.

And I gave up pot over 20 years ago.

 

It is a significant accomplishment for an alcoholic to stay sober for 3 days. Staying sober for over a week is like a miracle. In my experience it is almost impossible for teen alcoholics to ever recover from the compulsion to drink.

Have you vere had a friend who was an alcoholic?

 

An alcoholic will never not be an alcoholic. They have to control themselves and condition themselves to give up the drink. You have to have a lot of patience to put up with an alcoholic.

 

I have a SIL that is an alcoholic and lies about it, hides her empty bottles that she thinks is safe from view.
According to her version she is notan alcoholic and she doesn't drink.

 

Teen alcoholics ? How do they get their Liquor.? Someone
would have to be helping them.Plus Liquor COSTS MONET !

 

I'm not so sure about that.The same case could be made for
a Pothead.And Pot Can be addicting.
I think once a Heroin addict,the inclination will always be
in yer psyche.Not so with Alcohol.Plus it takes a while for one
to be an alcoholic.Like a chain smoker.

 

Did I mention I like easy on the eyes. Its a Nice Problem to Have.

 

Okay people of the Strange Brews......The Ole Shopping Cart tactic doesn't work in the grocery store anymore.

I had seen this gorgeous woman several times in the store I shop at. So I figured I bump my shopping cart into hers to start up a conversation.

All went well until I hit her cart. Then there was this voice.....eh eh watchit, theres eggs in here. The eh eh was more like a real long word and it came with one of those New York accents.

After I heard that I was like.....mumbling sorry and just wanted to get out of there.

Nowadays.....Don't do it. Just sayin.

She could have been. But it didn't sound like she was from Brooklyn.
