    Um ... Kiss-up to a Hugely Political { HP } family.
Shades of Ann Richards and her uppityness.

The only thing good about Texas was Homer Bannon and
    Lonnie from - Hud - { 1963 }. Oh and Alma { Best Actress Oscar }.

Never to be confused with the house maid in :
    - Rebel Without a Cause - who babysat Sal Mineo.
    The Crawford family maid.

Yes Sir.Hud Bannon was one of the greatest heel in Filmdom.
Lived entirely for hisself.Plus couldn't help but run his big fat Caddy right
over Alma's flower garden.Don't forget his old man bought him a
Mars bar when he enlisted.Explained the only thing he could give him
    was ... ?

Yeah kinda like when Dorothy wakes up at the end of
    - Wizard of Oz - { 1939 } and sees all her neighbors and
Kin healthy and happy and watching her.
They were at her bedside the entire time when fainting
    caused a horrendous Bad Dream.
    Sometimes Art imitates Life.
Wizard in my humble opinion is The Most Beloved Movie
of all Time. They showed it during Easter and I couldn't wait
    each year for it's telecast.
    A close 2nd being - It's a Wonderful Life - { 1946 }

As I became older I grew into a more powerful aspect of
the Human Condition. That being Sadness.Any author worth their salt
has to understand this very powerful aspect and know how to release
    it's import.
I like even more,Sad Movies and sad endings.Because it personifies
the inherent tender nature of Mankind where No Man is an Island.
I cannot stand action hero movies or Action Thrillers.
    I require great drama { dialogue,plot and setting }.Plus a good
    score.

It's basically a Childs movie, but also a good family event.
Mickey Rooney used to say of Judy { Judy Garland } " they'll
never be another like her ". I never cared much for her career in
the 40's.Basically vehicles for her to play song and dance roles.
What many people know about Judy is best not known.
She was a notorious flirt.Required perscription drugs to get
thru her days { eventualy died from an OD of Seconal }.
Plus { and I'm guilty of not knowing until the mid 90's and the
Internet } she was not even 5 foot tall. Her height is listed as 4"11".
    I still can't believe it.

True story (as are most of my stories) . . .

When I was a kid my dad had to go to Chicago on business. It was the only time my mom ever went with him so they hired a high school girl in our neighborhood to stay with my sister and me. The Wizard of Oz was playing at the local theater so the baby sitter took us to the Saturday matinee. There were so many tickets sold we had to stand in the aisle alongside about 100 other people (this was in Appalachia and the guy who owned the theater wasn't going to let the fire code interfere with a big payday).

Fast forward to the scene where the flying monkeys snatch Dorothy and Toto. I'm screaming, my sister is screaming, all of the other kids are screaming. About this time our baby sitter passes out and falls on the floor. More screaming. Finally a couple of ushers get her out to the lobby and revive her. I didn't see the end of the movie until it was shown on TV years later.

Love Wizard of Oz, but never thought of the flying monkeys as scary. I was probably older when I first saw it, plus I was into horror and gangster movies. Theaters had 'electric chairs' out front when Baby Face Nelson was playing. Early IDtv. ;)

I may be wronged but I think Texas was one of the places that had
Theatre chains where movie scare tactics were employed.Like having
an ambulance outside the theatre.Vincent Price and schlock Producer
William Castle made movies where advertisments ran the gamut.
Trying to attract movie patrons by scaring the pants off of.
    It pretty much worked.

all movies should have a happy ending, the truth of sadness weakens a country, and puts peoples lives in danger.

Movies,at least Great ones are only as great as the emotions they
can tug { heartstrings }.Man,may be a rational animal, but he is also a
    very Emotional,yet rational animal.
There are some movie goers from the past that only required a
movie { all Westerns } to exemplify the fight between the good guys
and the bad guys. And of course,Only the Good guy{s} was permitted
to win and ride off into the sunset. After a while that denotes a formula
of drab same old same old.
Then you have the Movie goer who prefers a Movie with a male
heartthrob and a female looker. The Movie ends happy and with a kiss.
How many a comedy was scripted.Especially light comedy.
Then you got yer horror flicks and Sci-fi movies.
But Drama is special. It encomposes far more insight and dvelves into
aspects that effect the human condition,as opposed to mere good guys
vs. bad guys and comedies that are often silly distractions.
Horror is the hardest genre to do right.I'd say 1 out of 10 horror movies
    produced is not worth watching.
    - The Wizard of Oz - which is classified as an Adventure,Family,Fantasy
genre is truly all three.Which makes it unique. It was also stupendously
    made { filmed }. Truly State-of-the-Art for it's time.
It still holds up well in that department.
As a side note for comparison { The very first film to win
an Academy Award for Best Picture } and was shot in B & W
was - All Quiet on the Western Front - { 1930 } and to this day one of
THE best shot B & W films ever made. The Cinematography is
spectacular. It also was a great War movie, demonstrating the futility
of war like few War movies, since.
I like War Movies. They are my second favorite genre of Film.
Comedies are my least favorite because the marketplace has
destroyed that Genre with dime a dozen saturation.

emotions are man's weakness, man bred psychopaths from his own loins to rule over him for survival situations.

when women have run their course, robots will take their place.

Emotions are no such thing.Go to a Funeral and watch as
people cry.Go to a wedding and watch as people cry { with Joy }.
Opposite events in our Life and yet similar human emotions.
Again ... emotions are what seperates us for the animal kingdom.
A good tearjerker is usually much more complex and defined than
    a good comedy.
Then you have the complex Comedy or Black Comedy.
Sometimes War Movies are more Comedy than Drama.
    Like in the Andy Griffith vehicle - No Time for Sergeants - { 1958 }
    and also - Onionhead - { 1958 }
The entire Francis { Talking Mule } series.
    and the classic - Mister Roberts - { 1955 }.
No matter how one slices it,Emotions are Man's biggest asset.
Without Emotions ... Man is little above Animals.

And this is something that's been around for a Long time.
    In fact,before Jesus Christ ... :

    De Oratore { 55 B.C. }

" Men decide many more problems by Hate,
    Love,Lust,Rage,Sorrow,Joy,Hope.Fear,
Illusion,or some similar emotion, than by reason
{ veritate }or authority or any legal standards,or
legal precedents,or law. " -- Marcus Tullius Cicero
