Travis was a hoot, especially when he found out Vic was pregnant. Now that was funny.

I've been coming to this bar long enough now to know that several of the regulars are Texans. So here's a question for y'all.

The stretch of U.S. Highway 87/287 between the Texas line and Amarillo isn't the loneliest stretch of road I've ever traveled, but it's lonely enough. Every few miles or so there is a marker indicating a Texas historical site. I never pulled off to check any of them out (you get in a zone in flyover country where you're not stopping for nothing), but I guess I'm curious as to what possibly could have happened on the high plains of the panhandle that's historically significant.

You was ever snakebit out there you'd think "historically significant" - among other things.
    Unless you was twice bit.

    Wow!

Christine, the MARRIED, lawyer, mensa member that I spent two hours chatting with at the bar is just awesome.

I can't think of anything else to say. She said that I'm one of only five people she ever told this to.

    Don't ask...

Otherwise, she told me about meeting Antonin Scalia, and how thunderstruck she was.

I am in awe of her. She is a forceful personality. That is obvious.

    Thanks.

It just popped in my head when I signed up. It doesn't really fit me, but then again maybe it does.

I generally keep all my thoughts to myself.

I was on 287 near Waxahachie this morning. Long road. Lol

    Google sez...

Recorded Texas Historic Landmarks. The THC Official Texas Historical Marker Program, inaugurated in 1962, includes both the Recorded Texas Historic Landmark (RTHL) and subject marker programs. More than16,000 markers now have been placed across the state, including more than 3,800 RTHL markers. Aug 18, 2017

Thanks. Will check one of them out next time I'm headed for Lubbock. I'm hoping it doesn't say, "On this site on June 23, 1843, absolutely nothing happened."

We always break for the historical signs on the Texas highways. I am not a Texan but it is one of my favorite places to go. Here is a site that you might find interesting.

Algore was the Top Flying Monkey.
He outranked Mussolini, but was way under HRC.
I am sure Cole Porter will take all that into account in his next life.

LOL, I remember talking to a yankee lady on the phone and trying to explain Waxahachie and she said... I got the Waxa but how do you spell Hachie?

Its a little town about 20 miles south of Dallas. Population has nearly doubled in the last 5 years... about 40,000. My church is in Waxahachie... its my escape from the big city. ;)
