A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah.
    -Matthew 16:4

The sign of Jonah? Sign? What is this?

Question: "What is the sign of Jonah?"

Answer: The phrase “sign of Jonah” was used by Jesus as a typological metaphor for His future crucifixion and resurrection. Jesus answered with this expression when asked by the Pharisees for miraculous proof the He was indeed the Messiah. The Pharisees remained unconvinced of Jesus' claims about Himself, despite His having just cured a demon-possessed man who was both blind and mute. Shortly after the Pharisees accused Jesus of driving out demons by the power of Satan, they asked Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from you.” He answered, “A wicked and adulterous generation asks for a sign! But none will be given it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Nineveh will stand up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and now something greater than Jonah is here” (Matthew 12:38-41).

Why Christmas is Celebrated on the 25th of December, 3 Days After the Winter Solstice

The word solstice literally means “sun stands still.” At the winter solstice, the sun for the first time will begin to increase – both lengthening the amount of daylight and progressing north along the horizon after having reached its most southerly point. For 3 days however, the sun does not visibly appear to move northward along the horizon, thus appearing to “stand still” in its progression. In correlation, we find the winter solstice celebrated as the birth of the sun on the winter solstice on the 22nd of December (in the northern hemisphere), and the divine savior 3 days later on the 25th of December. Jesus, Horus, Krishna, Mithras, Dionysus, etc., are all said to have been born on the 25th of December.

Do you have some point? Sounds like you should be pointing to Easter rather than Christmas, but anyway, everyone knows Jesus wasn't really born on Dec. 25...what brilliant point do you think you're getting at? Certainly Christian holidays are on the dates they are to supplant the pagan holidays...no kidding.

Seriously...I'm not interested in correcting your tainted "learnin'." If you actually cared to know facts about history, you'd bother to sort your sources and consider what is valid rather than buying into whatever ninny pushes an idea that you like. The validity of some sources are indeed more relevant and accurate than others. Discerning readers who wish to learn facts will value the validity of the sources.

To get back to topic...it's sort of like what I told that blonde Mormon gentleman. He read his Book of Mormon scriptures and it "burned in his heart" and that is how he decided it was true. That's like you and these silly confabulations of partial facts applied to generate a nifty little supposed correlation...and it just sounds so good to you.

My advice to you is the same as I gave the Blonde Mormon fellow: "read with your heart AND your brain."

 I was going to read the whole thread before I responded but, you made me laugh. Thank you.
Every time I see his "Jesse" signature, I think the same thing. I live in Minnesota and, as a way of declaring "a pox on both their houses," I voted for Jesse back then. Whereas, he really wasn't all that bad of a governor - "first do no harm," he is a major loon.

As far as you OP goes - I love talking to missionaries and that includes all of the Left Wing G, I'd like a BLT ones. I usually don't get a chance to talk to them in our home because we're usually too busy to bother and, because it is actually against Jewish Law to "entertain" a Christian missionary.
But, when I meet these folk on the street, if I have time, I will talk to them.
If it's in our neighborhood, I'll usually engage in polite dialogue as to why they might be getting a hostile response to their missionizing in a Jewish neighborhood. I will try and enlighten them on how Christianity persecuted and murdered Jews for the last 1500 years and that even most secular Jews are not going to be overly fond of Christians telling them they need to believe in Jesus.
If I meet these people outside of our neighborhood or, if they are GLBT Love Our Mother The Earth Leftists, I will engage them in trying to explain, either biblically or rationally (in the case of the Leftists, who are more difficult to reason with than Christians. Their Leftist Faith is very didactic and rigid) why they are wrong.
I once met a missionary on the street near a Jewish School where there were a bunch of young Orthodox Jewish boys listening to this guy.... I shooed the boys away and engaged him in reasonable dialog. After about 15 minutes of me refuting every point he made, he literally ran away telling me that if I wasn't going to believe him then he had to go...

It's all good clean fun to me (except, again, with the Leftist Believers - they can get really angry and insulted if you question their beliefs).

That's OK, though. I'd rather have a genuine, honest loon like Jesse than the monsters who've occupied the White House over the last 12+ years.

One person's heresy is another person's doctrine.

So do you think then, that God of the OT is not the same as God in the NT.
As the OT God didn't come across as merciful or just. IMO.

Well...He was, but he also is JUST. And, sometimes justice doesn't look so pretty to those getting served.

And this is exactly the problem I have with religion. Christians doing the judging that should be left to God.

 Discernment, not judgement. God judges...we discern His message. Please note the explanation I gave in an earlier post with regard to "hope."

Your lack of a serious response is given their argument creedence.
