They were made that way by conservatives and that ridiculous No Child Left Behind Act. Neither party has clean hands here. They just don't. When you try to force schools to meet a standard in order to be funded, then naturally the system will dumb down the standard to keep being funded.

A lot of Black families are pulling their kids. Homeschooling growth in black communities is higher than for whites or Hispanics. And here’s some reasons why.

    And…
    And my favorite.

That is a total misrepresentation of what is being said.

People don't care if a teacher explains that racism is bad.

What people are against is teaching kids that this country was made to BE racist on purpose. That white people are the sole cause that racism exists in this country.

Yes, I know, you don't believe that is being taught. Just skip it. There's enough evidence that it is happening. That you think there isn't is not relevant. Plenty of parents have spoken, or been spoken to, by thier kids of what's happening. You disregarding them as being "righties" or whatever is just your bias showing.

No. National Education Policy should be determined by the party of slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, and segregation so they can spread the guilt by race rather than by party. If that wasn't the case, CRT would include lessons in the sacrifices Republicans made to free blacks from physical bondage under the Democrats and how, more recently, Republicans worked to restore the black family from the curse of LBJ who sought to ensnare blacks in economic bondage. The US has more kids growing up in single parent homes than any other country because the party of slavery turned our schools into indoctrination centers and the once free press into propaganda outlets.

If anybody is teaching that, then they need to SHOW IT. And I don't mean show some obscure teacher in a classroom who mangled a lesson plan. I mean an actual education POLICY to teach nonsense like that.

You won't show it... because you can't. The part about this or that being taught is repeated over and over by wingnut propaganda. The actual evidence that such policy exists is not. So I'm sure that loses you.

Suffice it to say that if the wrapping paper concerns more than the gift inside you really need to grow up.

How could you have missed the fact that almost every post on this forum is an opinion? Discussion boards are about opinion. You can get facts from the press.

my approach is that if these teachers are are "indoctrinating" the students, either way, they should get due process as negotiated by their unions, but why not fire them?

Except you didn't present your comments as opinion. You said: You don't understand. They will be fired if they don't.

You are stating it as fact - but none are forthcoming when asked. So, as I originally stated, it is difficult to offer my opinion on your post because there are no facts to back up your assertion.

Would 5,000 teachers vowing to break anti-CRT laws be enough for you? No. You want a "policy" as if they're going to name a policy "CRT" or "Teaching Critical Race Theory" or some such like that. Something you know they are not going to straight out do. Which is the only reason that you demand it.

Riddle me this... if CRT is not being taught then why would 5,000 teachers vow to break anti-CRT law? How could they even do that if they weren't teaching CRT? LINK: Teachers pledge to break anti-critical race theory laws (nypost.com) And why would the NEA, the largest teachers union in the country with over 3 million members host this group that got those signatures?

You don't need evidence from a policy to find out if something is or isn't being done. Both Democratic and Republican politicians lie all the time. We Both know that to be true. Yet you will never find a policy on it. Are you now going to demand a policy to prove that? Of course not. It would make you look like a fool. And while we disagree...on a lot...you're no fool. So just stop the demands that you know to be impossible.

And yes, I do expect an answer to my "riddle". So don't cut it out just because its too inconvenient for you to answer.

You can interpret what I write any way you like. When I was a teacher, you couldn't go against the school district requirements without getting fired. It wouldn't surprise me that it is different today.

    WHAT are "anti-CRT laws"?

But I see you showed no "policy" to teach the nonsense you claimed, so my job is done.

The stupid part of CRT is trying to make what exists today seem to be an extension of what existed 200 years ago. There are two times that matter right now- that is today, and tomorrow. We can learn from history- but to resurrect the worst of it is really stupid. The black community of today has total control of it's own choices, and no doors are closed to them. However, all of us must find our talents. our strengths, our opportunities and make the most of ourselves. Blaming others for your failure to do your part guarantees your failure- and embedding guilt for your failure in others, particularity children, is the epitome of evil.

A six-year old girl came home from school recently, and asked her mother if she was "Born evil because she was born white". This is what the CRT people want..... for everybody to feel guilty over things they have never done or had any control over. Like Hitler, they want to embed their delusion in small children to create entire generations of white people unable to think for themselves- but willing to benefit them.

Any time this comes up, I'm reminded of the history before the days of American slavery- to the history of black slavery; where dominant blacks in Africa made slaves of other blacks and were transporting them and selling then to buyers in the middle east- for centuries, even 1300 years ago. Blacks have been in the slave business for a very long time- they were victims of their own people first. I'm reminded that of all the slaves transported out of Africa by European slave traders- who bought those black slaves from black captor/slave traders- less than 4% of those slaves were brought to America. I'm reminded that the fortunes of today's descendants of that 4% are profoundly better off than they would be if those ancestors has not been slaves, and their ancestral line would have continued in Africa.

CRT was designed to selectively represent history as the justification for the failures of so many black people today- and totally denies the role of black people on their own fortunes.
There is no greater curse on the many fine black citizens of today- than their own people which are working so hard to resurrect the racial issue, and profit from it. The primary irresponsibility for the status of blacks has long since swung to the people themselves; long since left anything systemic behind. The best of our black citizens have proven this.... yet the worst attack the best, call them "Uncle Toms" and "Oreos" for being successful in life. It's true that the prospects for a black child today are lower than most- but that has to do with things like 70% of black children being raised in single-family environments, being raised without fathers, without good role models and guidance, being in the company of a group where far too many embrace crime, violence, gangs and drugs. Society has bent over backwards to encourage and support healthy changes and opportunities for black people- and some of it has worked very well. Some of it has not... But like many other aspects of life, you cannot make people do things they don't want to do- and that includes getting an education, embracing sound values, taking personal responsibility, earning self respect. Those who do, fare quite well in America today. Those who don't- embrace CRT, BLM and the concepts of blaming others for what they lack- and will not do for themselves. They can change that anytime they wish to- but nobody can do it for them.

Maybe you should consider the decades long tradition of teaching the Lost Cause in southern schools as more egregious than teaching kids about racism. Are you also just as vexed about this or do you only care about CRT (which is not taught in any school outside of some university classes)? Today you are worked up about CRT, yesterday it was Saul Alinsky, in my day it was Karl Marx, before him it was Darwin...tomorrow it will be some new bogeyman created by the right to mask what they really want taught, money is the only measure of a human beings existence.

Quote the part where it says children should be taught that this country was made to be racist on purpose.

If you don't, you will have once again illustrated my point: that the extreme right is HORRIFIED that children are being taught not to be racists. And that they will make up any excuse they can to stop this.

Okay critical race rheory was created by Marxist scholars, an oxymoron if there ever was one, entirely because the socio economic arguments for communism, workers unite etc, had utterly failed to persuade anyone with a functioning brain went hunting for some thing else.
By this point Marxism had become a quasi religion, as opposed to a coherent fact based approach to reality, so rather than discard the decrepit old, moldly bit of flotsam and get on with their lives, the true believers hunted for a new fracture point and thus critical race theory was born. It is obviously racist in tone and texture, and about as subtle as a war club which in certain regards it is meant to be.

One should further note that in the main the cheif problem Marxists have with society as it is, is that they aren't in charge of it, and frankly no one rational should want them in charge of it. As exemplified by the Biden Administration's disarray and general malfeasance, institutional incompetence, and please don't let the get away with pinning it all on Joe who at this point isn't doing much more than reading cue cards and signing whatever drivel that the ideologues he is surrounded by hand him. No the problem isn't Joe it is the ideas that animate those around him. They dont work. In fact they can't work not over the long haul. The human instinct for freedom and liberty always prevails in the end. It ended the divine right of kings and the former Soviet Union. It is on the verge of bringing down Xi's china.

It is always a roller coaster ride. There are always people who thing they are smarter and better but they never and in they become monsters or at least monstrous or in the case of the idiots running the Biden Administration chaser after folly moving from one vain chimarae to the next even as the power they lust for retreats ever more rapidly before them.

Sorry to be nitpicky, but perhaps you should have said that (the bolded) in your original response. Yes, I understand it is an opinion board, but when something is presented as fact, people can and should challenge it. Worse, others may take it as fact and run with it. I like to think we all have personal responsibility for what we say and write, don't you?

"Jeff erson’s fellow white colonists knew that black people were human beings, but they created a network of laws and customs, astounding for both their precision and cruelty, that ensured that enslaved people would never be treated as such. As the abolitionist William Goodell wrote in 1853, ‘‘If any thing founded on falsehood might be called a science, we might add the system of American slavery to the list of the strict sciences.’’

You can call it whatever you like. I didn't call anything CRT. Nor did I say anything against teaching about racism. When a 6 year old girl asks her mother if she was born evil because she is white and says she learned it from her teacher, there is problem. You can explain that to me in any way you like. Karl Marx is back in fashion by the way.
