there is a huge difference between Jeremy Lin, Yao Ming, and Yi Jianlian.

Lin has average basketball skills an his biggest Achilles heel is his turnovers.

There are lots of black point guards with average basketball skills and turnover problems drafted into the NBA........

Thats just a massive can of worms isn't it=) Maybe white people should demand equal representation in certain positions in the NBA and NFL. But then we'd be call racists for demanding something so absurd, like how there aren't enough black QBs or coaches. The door doesn't swing both ways.

LOL.....yep, lets have a "Rooney Rule" for white cornerbacks.....

Yep....you can be mediocre and black in the NFL or NBA....not so much for Whites and Asians......but the discrimination really begins much earlier and kicks in full-stride with college recruiting.

He was California High School Player of the Year and led his team to a state championship......but was not offered a single basketball scholarship. I think he is saying that if he had dreadlocks and was named Don'tarius he would have gotten tons of offers......and he is right. And he is saying that, if he had dreads, he would have been drafted into the NBA with the accompanying multi-million dollar contract.....and he is right again. Its all very similar to the Wes Welker story......discrimination against white and asian players in favor of blacks is rampant. I'm glad Lin has brought this up because a White player would be run out of the league immediately......an Asian can get away with bringing it up.

Let me put it to you another way, Jeremy Lin can never be compared to John Stockton or Steve Nash.

Jeremy Lin has the opportunity to play for Houston just as much as he had a chance to play with the Knicks. He will sink or swom on his own merit, not the color of his skin.

There are lots of kids, white and black, that lead their teams to a state championship for their high school, but that doesn't mean they are right for a Division 1 full badketball schoarship. There are also some players who have come from lesser schools who have excelled in the NBA.

It has nothing to do with race and everything to do with skill and the perception you can place you have the skill.

Well riddle me this......if Lin is good enought to play in the NBA why was he not drafted.....when tons of black kids get drafted in the first round and are complete busts. Why was the best wide receiver in the NFL over the past six years not even invited to the combine, drafted, and cut by the first team he tried to sign with. Are the millions upon millions the NBA and NFL spend in scouting a complete waste of money......are they that incompetent......or is their discrimination in favor of Don'Tarius with dreads?

    - - - Updated - - -

So Jeremy Lin is good enough to play in the NBA......but wasn't good enough to get a basketball scholarship to a D-3 school somewhere......got it.....LOL

What are you talking about ? Calvin Johnson was the lions first pick in the draft and is hands down the best wide receiver ... If linn was so awesome he should have shredded at Harvard . Dude never averaged over 5 assist per game and he was a point guard playing (*)(*)(*)(*)tier teams in the Ivy League . He was a late bloomer and that's why he's getting paid now ... In the same system he claims is racist .

American sport is near to a true meritocracy. When one race dominates in one aspect, it's based on performance almost without exception.

And the NFL can't figure out why there were so few black coaches and so many black players. Morons.

How do you figure they aren't getting a chance.
8 of the top ten highest paid players in the NFL are white.

You can ask that question to Tony Parker or Yao Ming, both of whom never went to college on a basketball scholarship.

The Welker story is simple: he doesn't LOOK like an NFL player. He's a little guy...looking at him in HS, you would not expect him to stay healthy in the NFL.

As a Colts fan I despise the Patriots and loudmouth Welker. But I do respect him as being a real football player.

    Taxcutter says:
Way more than 14% (the proportion of blacks in the general population) of the money goes to black players. Even moreso in the NBA.

If the local fire department is subject to Affirmative Action, why not pro sports?

Those would be mostly, if not all, QBs.......that is a position that teams can still draft/recruit white players without the fans and coaches getting all wired out.......now draft/recruit a redheaded RB and all hell will break loose.

How so.......Welker has 184 more receptions than Calvin Johnson over the past six years.......and his target to reception ration is much higher than Johnson's (72% vs 55%).....and Johnson barely beats him out in yardage over that span. So one isn't invited to the combine and goes undrafted and the other is a first rounder. Thanks for making my point.

Calvin Johnson nearly had 2000 yards . One game away on a (*)(*)(*)(*) team . Dude is the best and will finish as the greatest ever . Wes is legit but no megatron .

I guess you mean Welker doesn't look like and NFL player because he's a "little guy" and White:

    Welker: 5'9/185 undrafted

    Steve Smith: 5'9/185; 3rd round

    Darren Sproles: 5'6 190; 4th round

    DeSean Jackson: 5'10/175; 2nd round

    Trindon Holliday: 5'5/165; 6th round

Thanks for helping to make my point........he "doesn't look like an NFL wide receiver"........maybe if Welker's stylist could come up with some dreads he might "look" the part.......LMAO.
