Strange that it's mostly Democrats who want to continue the lockdown destroying our economy...

Not all Trump cultists are eugenics fanatics, but now most are, since it's what the party commands of them. Pretty soon, instead of just hoping the old die off, they'll be hoping for the sick, the handicapped, and all other "useless eaters" to die off for the GloryOfTheParty.

Right.... So if this is because of the government being shut down, how much worse do you think it would be if the government didn't shut down and everybody was getting sick?

Then how are they going to recuperate the costs?

Actually we want enough testing and equipment and contact tracing so that it is a responsible move to open the economy. Which we would have by now except for the Trump incompetence....

Strange that its mostly republicans that want to continue to kill off old people, the infirm and the disabled. For the last 5 years Trump supporters have been trying to destroy all remnants of Barak Obama and his administration and everyone associatiated with it ….. See I can do that too.

Americans aren't as stupid as Trump thinks they are.

It would be foolish to return to normal until testing and contact tracing is widespread

Opening up the economy before that only will spread the Virus and kill people ...........

Then this Virus will Last years

OK if the "experts" have told you that 3 million people in the US could die of this virus, I'm afraid I'm going to need to see some evidence of that.

You've cited experts who say over 3 million Americans could die? Which post number?

    37. The mortality rate is between 1-3% of those that it infects.

From your link: "A 1% mortality rate at that scale of infection is between 700,000 and 1.5 million dead "

Dismissing the utter stupidity of those numbers, your claim was one percent of the country. That's over three million people, not 700,000 to 1.5 million, which I find it hard to believe that you actually believe is likely.

If the dingoes ate our babies, how bad would many parents feel? The psychological damage & cost of treating it...

For point of reference, FAR more people died of the Hong Kong flu in a MUCH less populated world.

    It's all a big "if."

Just as with Russian interference, Kavanaugh, quid pro quo and so on.

A broken record, but one that now threatens to destroy our country.

So then I clarified my position in post 42.
"2. If we know the case mortality rate... we can figure out how many will die. Now you can argue that not everybody is going to get the disease and that’s true. But that’s dodging the real point. What’s going to happen when lots of people die from the disease and what effect will that have on the economy?"

Now if you want to play a numbers game, go right ahead. Sure, 3 million won't die. But you pointed out over a million might. Not really too sure if that's the best argument going forward. As far as I'm concerned, you proved my point for me that a lot of people are going to die from this disease.

Judging from the people in this forum still upset over the Civil War, my guess is yeah it's pretty bad.
