Gun laws are an example of the politicization and corruption of the judicial system.

The constant harassment of Trump by the House is a fine example of “win by any means”. I think the Republicans will take back the house, increase seats in the Senate. Trump will be re-elected because Biden represents 8 years of stagnant malaise economy, Trump got the country rolling again. Who better to do it again in his second term? I also think Ginsberg will retire this year. She is in poor health, to advocate she stay just for the party partisanship is simply cruel.

Being a political cynic that you are, you don't give a damn about Ruth as a human being, just that she survives long enough not to give Trump a chance to sit another SCOTUS...

    Very naughty of you.

Yes, I hope she recovers -- AND THEN, FINALLY, HAS THE GOOD SENSE TO RETIRE!

She's EIGHTY-SEVEN YEARS OLD, has been treated for cancer four times (most recently last August), and has been 'working-at-home' for much of the last twelve months, on near 'life-support' much of the time!

Long ago, hyperliberals figured out that the ultimate choke-hold on nearly anything of importance in the United States government is centered on having their "Justices" installed in the Supreme Court. So, they'll probably make ol' Ruthie hang onto her robes until the day she finally dies!

[IMG] . Quiz: Which Supreme Court Justice is older than the GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE?! :cynic:

Hating Trump is the only thing RGB and the DNC are living for at this point.

The judicial system doesn't pass gun laws, and indeed it frequently overturns restrictions on gun laws and overturns convictions for violations of gun laws.

    Be fair.

Indubitably I'm concerned for her well-being. But you, being a Liberal, confusing my concern for Ruth's well-being with my desire for her to retire so that President Trump can appoint another Conservative Justice.

    Ah well...

I'll be fair when supreme court justices read and translate the second ammendment or the first for that matter instead of interpreting it before applying it.

I'll be fair when democratic lawmakers stop threatening supreme court justices.

Also the judicial system is made up of more than just the scotus and i. The last 50 years they have become increasingly politicized, aka corrupted. The constitution should be their only agenda.

I can't believe I am saying this, but that was the design. Presidency + Senate = Courts. That's the equation. You are trying to bastardized that equation for power and control which, "We the People" have not decided you should have.

Well, yes .... Justice Scalia believed in giving constitutional terms the meaning they had at the time of enactment. So "arms" in 4he Second Amendment means (if you agree with his originalist approach, and I do) whatever "arms" meant in 1791. The problem is that early writers are all over the place on this definition. To some it meant anything one could carry, to others it meant any weapon used for offense or defense. To Al Qaeda it means roadside bombs, landmines, airliners, mustard gas and nukes.

I am not at all uncomfortable with limitations on the availability of such "arms" as part of the regulation of a well-regulated militia.

I am confortable deciding for myself what arms i need as part of the malitia, aka every able bodied man in the union.
I am extraordinarily uncomfortable with hate filled , unknowable people making that decision for me.
About as uncomfortable as you would be having other people determining what you can and cannot say, or what God you worship and how.

Well if she dies or becomes incapacitated where de facto she isn't a judge, she isn't going to have much of a chose.

like I said "she won't do that if she can avoid it" - if she died, she would not have a choice, same with any of our old politicians dying of old age diseases

The system allows for what I support so there is no “cheating” — and no, I never did prior to the antics the right pulled four years ago.
Keep your day job, your psychic powers are lacking.

SCOTUS should be impartial — had the left had done what the right had done with the last two seats the right would be launching armed protests on the capital with magabombers.

There is very low chance of a Republican takeover of the house
There is a high chance of Republicans keeping the senate
The presidency is up in the air but if trump wins it will be on even smaller margin than 2016

RBG will not retire as long as trump sits in the whitehouse
