I don't think about defending myself day after day. I know few people who live that way. Love the strawmen you create.

Actually he had. He had held a gun to the head of the son of the first family that took him in and threatened to kill him. That is a crime. It's assault (in FL assault refers to threats). It is a felony. He should have been in jail awaiting trial for that offense.

Holding a gun on someone is a crime--it's assault, which is a felony. In addition, since it involved the family he was living with, it was also domestic violence. He should have been arrested in December and should have been awaiting trial on February 14.

Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Wednesday that she was briefed before the release of a controversial intelligence assessment and that she stands by the report, which lists returning veterans among terrorist risks to the U.S.

    https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/16/napolitano-stands-rightwing-extremism/

And then there are all those 'deplorables' .
So no returning vets or Trump voters can own a gun.

Well ... your whole weapons right is just a joke!
Does a doctor have to report a significant, potentially harmful third party mental disorder to the US authorities?
No? Well ... then every psychopath can buy a legal weapon, if he has not noticed otherwise negative to etc. Otherwise you have to live with ...

Which has always been the crux of the issue. Who identifies, or becomes responsible for identifying who those who cannot be afforded their constitutional rights are. In every progressive paradigm, there is an essential thread of making that pejorative decision for others being peddled. Next time, though a progressive suggests this, ask them why even those they would exclude from getting a gun can still be constitutionally provided a lawyer...

There is most certainly a right to use violence, even in your corner of the world.

Some shmuck thought wearing a tux to school was a threat. My GOD, the utter stupidity is frightening!!!! Wait until kids start ratting out their fellow students for playing Halo and calling them dangerous. I'd say, rat out any student screaming "the NRA kills people" as far more dangerous and sick in the head. Utter delusion.

the only time guns should be taken away is while a person is serving a sentence, after that, all rights should be restored

if one thinks they should be sentenced longer.... that should happen during sentencing

owning a gun is a RIGHT, not a privilege like driving a car

Neither do we. There are very few people in this country who carry a gun. The rest of us still go about our days not worrying or eve thinking about defending ourselves.

    Everyone is “potentially” violent.

    Absolutely not.

    Great.

Let's do the same thing for immigration and jail time and we won't need guns.

You sat on your ass while you lost the right to Habeas Corpus and came to be under constant corporate and state surveillance.

And the fact the local PD and FBI sat on their hands and did nothing is completely glossed over by the bigots demanding guns be taken away and/or banned.

Maybe he confused dapper day with diaper day. He thought people would be crapping their pants. Poor kid.

I totally agree, take Australia as an example! Do I believe it's as bad as they say, doubtful! Although I have my suspicions that these number may be inflated to advance and retain current gun laws.. In either case, these are some substantial numbers for a country of 22 million!

    Stats and facts
