Democrats actively attacked her for not vocally taking their side virtually forcing her into this awkward position. I'm only stating reality that this may well alienate a certain portion of her fan base. Big difference between shut up and sing as I said or vocally take my position or you will be attacked as the left did

Dixie Chick's fanbase was much more narrow as they were a niche band. Taylor Swift has fans all over the world and most of them could not pinpoint country if it was shoved down their throats. Add to this that Dixie Chicks made statements that went against the mainstream narrative whereas Taylor Swift has made ones that are fully in line with conemporary discourse.

Taylor Swift will se no backlash. Neither from "Conservative fans" nor from mainstream media. Her status as pop princess is unthreatenned.

Time will tell on this. Oprah had a huge fan base too but when she went political her ratings plummeted and she lost her show. Same thing with NFL players kneeling, they hemmoraged audience and finally had to shut up and play ball

 

i see more middle aged, white, male Trump-fans who have TSDS (Taylor Swift Derangement Syndrome) than I see white, liberal men with TDS. The Trump fans are obviously pissed because the school's popular girl is not asking them out for the prom.

 

Over time I've come to the conclusion that you never add anything of substance to a conversation and are a waste of time in here. Welcome to my ignore list.

 

Again, Taylor Swift's fanbase is 99.99% (not to say 100%) females in the age group of 12-30 where the older ones are those who grew up with her. Many of these fans also live outside the US and have no relation whatsoever to American politics and even her American fans are more interested in her songs than her political opinions. If politics matter at all, her fanbase consists of a group that is mostly Liberal anyways.

I cannot see how this is an equation that equals plummeted ratings.
