And an absence of total idiocy. Can there really be anything more silly than thinking a god has to look like us.
Well just drawing the obvious conclusion from the vacuity of your posts so far. Redemption is possible but it will require an intelligent post! Maybe an intelligent analysis of why a god of the entire universe should look like a man or be comprehensible to man would suffice.
"When the passions become masters, they are vices." -Blaise Pascal "To wisdom belongs the intellectual apprehension of things eternal; to knowledge, the rational apprehension of things temporal." -Saint Augustine There you go words people who are smarter than both of us.
Agreed. This, in part, is what leads me to a largely metaphorical/alegorical interpretation of scripture (not just The Bible- all supposed 'divinely inspired' text). I see it as most likely the closest depiction of the workings of a being(s) that exist in a reality otherwise incomprehensible to humans. Best example: creation vs evolution. Evolution is what happened in our reality according to the laws that govern our physical existence. Creation is what happened spiritually; a rough approximation, as best as it can be described in a way we can understand, of the extradimensional processes enacted to facilitate and guide that evolution toward a willful and creative result- us. Or to put another way, I doubt God literally grew a woman from the rib of a man in a day. More likely, that is just the most comprehensible description of whatever actually happened in our spiritual evolution that resulted in the husband/wife/family dynamic. Thats how I see it anyway.
So you admit you cannot prove your case. Of course my argument is illogical but the fact you cannot disprove it should make you think assuming that is possible,.
That's what I said.!!?? As I pointed out, that is partially true. But, our law gives defference to religion while not accepting religion as an excuse for ignoring the majority of our law - certainly not criminal law. LOL - I don't agree that politics and religion are the same thing. If I want our government to be more ready to accept and use information from math and science that doesn't mean I have a religion.
what was your point again?? you hate God was that it?? makes me wonder what happened to you that you blame on Him?
We might be able to know eventually (humans, that is, not necessarily you or I). Speaking optimistically, we have much evolution and advancement ahead of us. Possibly more than we have behind us.
love you optimism. I am only in my seventies but it is pretty clear that society is not getting more functional or more capable of dealing with the future.
and you cannot say with any certainty or rationality at all that He is in fact imaginary. as soon as you do you are obligated to provide an argument based on evidence . your argument thus far is I don't believe there is a God therefore I am the one being rational and logical.. pretty crappy argument really
I think it depends on the timeframe you're looking at it through. Relative to, say, 20 years ago, maybe not. While I'm sure many folks throughout history felt the same, I'd like to think humans and society are morally, ethically, technologically and intellectually improved, on average, compared to, say, 200 years ago. I'd guess we're progressing at a rate of about three steps forward, two steps back . Which isn't great, but good enough to get 'there' (wherever 'there' might be).
in some areas we have progressed in other areas we have regressed. all in all we are morally the same as we have always been
you must be talking about the people with the wacky idea that claiming to be an atheist is a superior intellectual/logical position. I agree, they are comical.
