America was never an empire. Empires conquer all the countries they can to collect tribute. For example, the British Empire.

what do the 911 attacks prove? peasants have attacked their colonial powers since history began.

i've been stationed in okinawa. the locals have been over our numerous bases there. i'm sure the libyans are overjoyed with our compounds in bengazi. bin laden's justification for 9/11 was our infidel presence in his holy city. the marine barracks in beirut.

of course the local strong men love that we keep them in power and train their death squads and interrogation teams, but the people will throw us out at first opportunity.

The U.S. has a base in Benghazi? Prove it.

The 9-11 attacks prove that the U.S. is not defendable within its borders.

You’ll be hard pressed to find any developed nation that is in the same position we find ourselves now. If you can find any examples I would be interested in knowing.

And where is all our imperial revenue? It seems like we spend more on this "empire" than we are getting back from them.

1 dollar bought 5.3% of an oz of Gold
Today 1 dollar buys 0.1% of an oz of Gold

I'd say the dollar is now worth 2% of what it was worth in 1913.

Over the 80 years previous to 1913 the dollar held 100% of it's value.

I'd say your points are dead on.

Moving to another country is a huge undertaking. You risk losing ties to many friends and family and you would rarely if ever see them again. You have to start over on your career ( depending on the career). Really, everything has to suck for it to be worth it, not just having a plutocratic government that likes to bully others. And if you move away, maybe you'll be collateral damage to americas next stupid undertaking.Though australia or new zealand would probably be safe.

They are gullible and bought into the myths conservatives promote about this being the land of opportunity. Though maybe their country is so poor and war torn that there really is nothing to lose.

Three reasons. They think people have the right to move, they like diversity, and/or they know it gives them more power since it dilutes the power of white nationalists like trump.

No, the left doesn't want a dictator. Far left may like socialism I guess.

We were part of a coalition that did. We fought on the right side then, but not always after. And frankly the soviets did more for V-E and were the real final nail for V-J.

If you love a child, is it better to deny they make mistakes or help them do better? Why is a country any different?

    Here's another:

A 1964 silver dime, made with real silver, purchased a gallon of gasoline.
If you have an uncirculated 1964 silver dime, you can sell it, and the proceeds will still buy a gallon of gasoline.

That was the main goal of the 2x impeached one.
To end America as the leader.

    I think he was successful.
    China thx him.

And as we fall, we will suffer like Japan did falling from#2.

    USA is founded on immigration.
Indigenous would not be stuck on reservations without that immigration.

No one knows with certainty how many people have been killed and wounded in Iraq since the 2003 United States invasion. However, we know that between 184,382 and 207,156 civilianshave died from direct war related violence caused by the U.S., its allies, the Iraqi military and police, and opposition forces from the time of the invasion through October 2019. The violent deaths of Iraqi civilians have occurred through aerial bombing, shelling, gunshots, suicide attacks, and fires started by bombing. Many civilians have also been injured.

    • 44% of those civilians injured by airstrikes were children (813 children of 1,855 total)
    • The majority (62% – 1,309 of 2,122) of civilian deaths from airstrikes were caused by international forces.
    • The majority (50% – 2,000 of 3,977) of overall civilian casualties (deaths and injuries) were also caused by international forces.

85,000 Children in Yemen May Have Died of Starvation
The aid organization Save the Children said the number was a conservative estimate of those under age 5.
    Who caused that Famine?
Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates Are Starving Yemenis to Death
The world was rightly outraged by the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, but the bombs of Mohammed bin Salman and his Emirati allies are killing dozens each day in Yemen.

one thing about a public "show trial" in the congress, even some state secrets are revealed. there was plenty of testimony about the cia base in benghazi...

CIA Base Benghazi in Benghazi, Libya (Google Maps) (virtualglobetrotting.com)

Libya consulate attack: Second U.S. building attacked in Benghazi was CIA base | Daily Mail Online

the 106 attacks prove the us is not defendable within its own capital. no one claimed any empire has been unchallenged.

rome was sacked by gauls visigoths and vandals, the empire by huns and damn near any tribe who could tie a sharp rock to the end of a stick.

we? exxon mobil is the most profitable business in history. united fruit brings home a few dollars and americans eat bananas virtually free, our lettuce is picked by virtual slave labor from the empire and every captive nation from argentina to zaire pays interest to goldman sachs.
