I didn't get overwhelmed but I certainly understand that was the master plan. Weak minds succumbed.

Accepting facts isn't "weakness." Raging against them because they didn't go your way, however, is.

Jan. 6 committee asks three pro-Trump GOP lawmakers for testimony

The Jan. 6 select committee on Monday requested testimony from three more House Republicans who are connected to the push by Donald Trump and his allies to overturn the 2020 election that ultimately metastasized into the Capitol riot.

Congressional investigators sent requests for voluntary interviews to Reps. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Ronny Jackson (R-Texas) and Mo Brooks (R-Ala.). It’s not clear if the three lawmakers will comply, but there’s ample precedent for them to decline: Three other Republican lawmakers previously targeted by the panel for questioning all rejected the requests, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, and Jan. 6 committee members have expressed hesitancy to subpoena their congressional colleagues.

Stonewalling investigations has become a badge of honor for Repubs. Trump has put them in a position where you're either with him or you uphold your oath to the Constitution. Most chose him.

Your reply should appear in the dictionary as an example of gaslighting .

    Astutely avoiding the facts.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Disputing President Donald Trump’s persistent, baseless claims, Attorney General William Barr declared Tuesday the U.S. Justice Department has uncovered no evidence of widespread voter fraud that could change the outcome of the 2020 election.

Barr’s comments, in an interview with the The Associated Press, contradict the concerted effort by Trump, his boss, to subvert the results of last month’s voting and block President-elect Joe Biden from taking his place in the White House.

Barr told the AP that U.S. attorneys and FBI agents have been working to follow up specific complaints and information they’ve received, but “to date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have effected a different outcome in the election.”

Uh Oh, The Tapes Are Still A-Comin’
New York Times reporters Jonathan Martin and Alex Burns on Wednesday released more recorded audio of House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) frantic private calls to fellow House GOP leaders explicitly acknowledging that Trump was responsible for the Jan. 6 Capitol attack.

    • McCarthy fretted during a Jan. 8 call that the process of potentially getting rid of Trump via the 25th Amendment “takes too long,” according to the new tape.
    • McCarthy also floated reaching out to President-elect Joe Biden to ensure a smooth transition of power, the audio reveals.

Once again I'll note that behind doors McCarthy sounds like he's in full possession of the facts and responds to them accordingly. Only his public statements, betraying his private thoughts, make his duplicity obvious.

Anyone who still likes him after he tried to have himself installed as an unelected autocrat needs to do some serious soul searching. Some of us will always prefer the constitution over the taste of Trump's boot leather.

That was not what he did and some of us only like the parts of the Constitution that fit their ideas. Those ones are tasting a bit higher than boot leather.

That's exactly what he did. I'm sorry that the Constitution doesn't fit your/Trump's ideas of installing unelected autocrats.

I don't recall Trump ever trying to put a committee together to censor speech. It is the left that constantly pushes for executive action on issues they can't sell on their own merits.

Nor has Biden, although Trump did repeatedly attempt to censor speech in his personal life.

But Trump tried to install himself as an unelected President, which is what we were initially talking about. Nothing the Dems have done compares to that.

It's tragic some of them had to learn that when they were standing before a judge facing conviction. I can't imagine what they must think about their Dear Leader now that he's disavowed them and ignored them all. I know many police officers that won't forgive him doing nothing for the cops being beaten by that angry mob.

Apparently, *NOTHING* is too awful for the cultists to draw a hard boundary.

The former Liar-in-Chief did float a trial balloon to strengthen libel laws against the press in an attempt to intimidate it because he just plain didn't like the reporting on him.

He was the elected President and believed the election was a fraud, still does. I think if it had been a gallon of milk it would have been clabbered.

Keep your eye on Biden because he did mention something Orwellian.

I can't help wondering if it will matter even if there are some small revelations that haven't been made public yet. I assume most have, by drips and drabs.
Moreover, most people are entrenched in the red and blue camps. Significant movement in terms of public opinion seems unlikely..........no matter how well, in compelling fashion, the facts are conveyed.

No, that's not where we are atall. You can cipher all day long but you still won't get the stink off of the last election. We're stuck with it though and every day that passes Biden proves the Right was right.
