5. President Trump’s legal team and other Trump associates instructed Republicans in multiple states to create false electoral slates and transmit those slates to Congress and the National Archives.

6. President Trump summoned and assembled a violent mob in Washington and directed them to march on the US Capitol.

7. As the violence was underway, President Trump ignored multiple pleas for assistance and failed to take immediate action to stop the violence and instruct his supporters to leave the Capitol.

Schiff: Jan. 6 Panel Will Show Evidence Of GOPers’ Requests For Pardons From Trump

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), who serves on the Jan. 6 Select Committee, on Sunday said the panel plans to show evidence that GOP members of Congress sought pardons from former President Trump in light of their involvement with efforts to overturn the 2020 election results.

During the committee’s first public hearing last week, vice chair Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) said that Rep. Scott Perry (R-PA) and “multiple other Republican congressmen” sought presidential pardons for their roles in Trump’s election steal scheme. Cheney also suggested that the panel’s third public hearing scheduled for Wednesday will feature information about efforts by GOP lawmakers, including Perry, to secure a pardon for themselves after Jan. 6. Perry’s spokesperson Jay Ostrich denied Cheney’s allegation, telling reporters that the claim is a “laughable, ludicrous and a thoroughly soulless lie.”

Congressional investigators believe Perry was involved in a scheme to install Justice Department lawyer Jeffrey Clark as acting attorney general in an effort to weaponize the DOJ as a means to overturn Trump’s 2020 loss. Alongside four other Republican lawmakers, Perry was subpoenaed by the committee for testimony. They have all refused to comply.

Former Attorney General Bill Barr says Trump would not listen when he told him election fraud claims were false

Former Attorney General William Barr picked apart claims of widespread fraud during his conversations with President Donald Trump after the 2020 election, but Trump refused to believe that the results were legitimate, Barr said in recorded testimony presented Monday.

In comments to the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, Barr portrayed Trump’s election fraud claims as farcical. Barr’s testimony, shown at the panel’s second public hearing detailing the findings of its probe, portrayed Trump as unwilling to believe his then-attorney general when he dismissed false claims about the election results.

House Jan. 6 Committee chair Bennie Thompson (D-MS) told reporters on Monday that the committee won’t be making criminal referrals against Trump or his other cronies to the Justice Department because “that’s not our job”–but that was apparently news to the other committee members.

• The panel “has not issued a conclusion regarding potential criminal referrals,” vice chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) tweeted on Monday night.
• Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) told CNN that he and his fellow panel members “haven’t had a discussion about that” and that he thought the committee was waiting until after the investigation was over to make a final decision.
• Rep. Elaine Luria (D-VA) tweeted that it is, in fact, the committee’s “responsibility” to report any criminal activity it finds in the investigation, and that it has yet to vote on the issue.
• A committee spokesperson walked back Thompson’s comment later Monday, saying that the panel will, “if warranted,” make criminal referrals.

Turning Point USA, a pro-Trump organization, reportedly funded Kimberly Guilfoyle’s $60,000 fee to introduce her fiancé Donald Trump Jr. in a speech that lasted under three minutes at the “Stop the Steal” rally that preceded the deadly Capitol insurrection on Jan. 6, multiple people familiar with Guilfoyle’s compensation told CNN.

CNN’s report comes a day after the Jan. 6 Select Committee’s second public hearing, in which the panel dissected Trump and his allies’ boost of the Big Lie following the 2020 election, despite how the then-President’s campaign staff knew that the election results were legitimate. Towards the end of the hearing, the panel focused on Trump’s fundraising and found that the then-President pushed the Big Lie as a tactic to raise millions of dollars. That money, the committee found, was used for Trump’s crusade to subvert the election results.

Alleged Proud Boys Plan For Jan. 6 Revealed In Court Filing

A document filed as an exhibit in the Proud Boys federal criminal case purports to show a plan for occupying federal buildings on Jan. 6. Proud Boy defendant Zachary Rehl, who faces charges of seditious conspiracy, filed the plan, titled “1776 Returns,” as an exhibit in his case as part of an argument for why he should no longer be detained pending trial.

Prosecutors cited the “1776” plan in charging documents filed this year against Rehl and other Proud Boys, including the group’s leader, Enrique Tarrio. The New York Times reported on it in March.

DOJ Probes Trump Lawyers Over Fake Elector Scheme

Federal prosecutors are investigating the Trump attorneys who worked on the plan to send alternate slates of electors to Congress for Jan. 6, the New York Times reports.

A D.C. federal grand jury has issued multiple subpoenas, the newspaper reported, asking for information about attorneys who developed the plan, which called for pro-Trump electors in states that Trump lost to sign certificates.

Those reportedly named in the subpoenas include Rudy Giuliani, Trump attorney John Eastman, and Ken Chesebro. TPM profiled Chesebro on Thursday; the Trump lawyer, who, according to memos released by the Times, appears to have come up with the plan for alternate slates of electors, had avoided the press before TPM’s exclusive interview.

The DoJ is also demanding that the 1/6 committee hand over all the transcripts from their interviews. It would appear Merrick is kicking it up a notch.
