I'm not angry. I'm amused and flabbergasted that people treat ancient near east mythology so seriously. Haven't you read the Old Testament? I would consider sending bears to maul children to be a vile thing for a deity to do. Same with ripping apart pregnant women and killing gay people and demanding animal sacrifices. Oh, and let's not forget about the rule where the Israelites had to bury their poop so Yahweh didn't step in it. Totally believable.

So, on this argument, if I were to believe there were a god, then I would have to accept that said god also does things like gives kids cancer, or all of the rest of the very unfortunate things in this world. In which case, why would you worship such a nasty creature? Surely, if there is a god, he has shown himself repeatedly to be a fairly unpleasant one and one we should look to defeat rather than worship?

No. I was pointing out that you hate Jews However beleive is to have confidence in the truth of the existence of something you clearly have confidence that it is true that God exists. Belief without evidence is faith. faith is not knowledge. Ill need rather more than faith to affirm a beleif.
Essentially. A sophisticated interpretation and a very unsophisticated one. 2 kids at sea view a whale for the first time. 3 months later the brighter child describes the whale perfectly. The backwards, unsophisticated child describes the whale as looking like a huge bear with fire coming out of it's head. The bright child is the Christian.
One of those bright christians has a thread telling everyone the world is flat. Another bright christain thinks there was world wide cannibalism 4500 yrs ago because god can't kill innocent children, babies, and fetuses in the world wide flood. Yep. Bright.
The only plausible thing I can come up with is this: There is a God or whatever you want to call it out there. The only reasonable explanation I can think of for human suffering is that if we have eternal soul-life, does our suffering for a short time while on this earth matter in terms of our eternity? I have to admit it does not, even as I am frustrated and angered by the human condition.
Just because there isn't god, doesn't mean that there isn't beauty and logic, reason, and meaning to life. I find more meaning and beauty in life as an atheist, than any religious person. Because unlike that of a religious person, the meaning and beauty that I see in my own life, is real.
Why are you frustrated by the human condition? Not too long ago, we used to be a bunch of hairless apes living in caves. Look how far we have come! The problem with religion is that it's brainwashing. It brainwashes people to think of human beings as more than we really are - which is a bunch of animals, similar to apes, who got lucky a few times and discovered some things (like antibiotics and electricity) purely by accident. Otherwise, if it weren't for pure dumb luck, we would be living in trees and caves, just like our ape-like ancestors. Given that, I feel incredible lucky to be living the life that I live. And I pinch myself every day at how luck I really am, on multiple levels.
