And the answer is of course a resounding NO.

I have yet to see any empirical evidence presented here or elsewhere to demonstrate religious claims of the supernatural.

The OP is a typical demonstration of circular logic.

Ah, right the Book of Mormon. Isn't that the book that claimed these advanced iron age empires existed in the Americas during the Roman era? And yet there is zero evidence of these civilizations even though we have done a lot of digging? Its also very clear that the DNA of Native Americans is from East Asia and its very clear they aren't cursed descendants of the Jews. There is zero evidence of civilizations in the Americas having iron weapons, horses, or cement.

Joseph Smith also attempted to translate some Egyptian hieroglyphics into the "Book of Abraham". Actual Egyptologists did a real translation and found they were burial writings for a mummy and nothing like what he said. Joseph Smith was an obvious fraud.

Well, we all have our own experiences. I consider mine to be a near life experience.

Many mock the notion of God, or the attitude to look up and take note of a greater thing. But even science is conformity to an increase in understanding. Therein is obeisance to the greater. When we apologize or make amends, it is obeisance to the overall greater, or in likeness to an invisible dove whose wings bring blessings of peace. Otherwise to what ends does one make restitution. If we do not hold to a common or greater ideal, then to what are we bound but to a downward spiral of utter brutality, darkness and selfishness. It is always service to the greater thing by which we are lifted as individuals and nations. One cannot do a single good thing but that it is service to God. Such is mans affinity to the presentation of the concept of God. It is intuitive and lodged in our intellects and hearts. Science is good. But it is nothing without humanity. Without humanity or deference to that which makes us more than brutes, science is obliteration.

I think the problem is you. Why don't you know? The Bible does not explicitly state on which day of the week Jesus was crucified. So, why are you claiming your confusion of Thursday or Friday, April 3rd, 33AD? And, the confusion isn't God's confusion. It's man's interpretation of what a day consisted of in 33AD. Back then, it was common to say that if the event was on part of Friday, then all of Friday would be 1 day. Saturday, 1 day. Part of Sunday, 1 day. 3 days. If you use our definition of one day is a complete 24 hour period of time, then Wednesday or Thursday could work. But, that's our interpretation what makes a day. (snicker-snicker)

That's your opinion. For the Fullness of the Gospel, there is one truth, not many. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has the fullness of the Gospel truth.

You are wrong about the zero evidence. You might want to do some new searches. Here is one that has lots of references as well as commentary, https://www.jefflindsay.com/LDSFAQ/

My take on the DNA is that there are several reasons. Jeff Lindsay will cover it for you. But, one reason I see quickly is that the people of Lehi who came over about 600BC from Jerusalem to the Americas were not of the House of Judah or Benjamin in which today's Jews in Israel are. Lehi was of the Tribe of Joseph through Manasseh who were carried away by the Assyrians in 722BC dispersed amongst the nations and lost or assimilated into. So, of course the American Indians or other natives to the Americas would not have close DNA relations. Duh...As far as the tools you were talking about, read up on JeffLinsay.com and you will see you are wrong, dead wrong.

Thats a lot of content in your website and I'm not up for reading a whole website. I'm fine with you copy pasting the responses he has, so I can addressing your points specifically.

Even if Lehi wasn't part of Judah specifically all the 12 tribes were closely related genetically and so they should be very close to Jewish DNA. But even if they aren't, at least they should have Middle Eastern DNA. But no, the DNA of Native Americans is very clearly East Asian. Now where would that come from?

Lets review .. I asked what the Truth was .. you told me "the Truth is the Truth" -- which is meaningless - regardless of my opinion -a non answer - repetition of premise - fallacy 101 "Assumed Premise Fallacy" and so on.

Now we have more info - LDS has "The Truth" .. great - so tell me what the LDS says is "the Truth"

and while you are pondering that - tell me what do you think you are supposed to learn during your vacation here on earth ?

Think one of my special tasks methinks was to learn humility - not doing real well but trying :)

Satan was given dominion here, and she, like Yahweh, is a jealous God "dess".

She would not allow sons of god, angels to return again.

That prick of a god genocided the whole planet.

Strange as it is, as we speak, to the deluded believers, Satan is our savior against Armageddon.

No wonder Christians sing that Adam's sin and all sins are happy faults.

I am challenging moral cowards to stop doing evil in their imaginary god's name.

When I show hate, people see it and wonder why.

They see it is religions and their homophobic and misogynous ways.

They also see that believers cannot justify their way and just keep running away.

I teach that fact to all lurkers and intelligent moral people.

Why do you think your ilk used inquisitions?

Christians could not argue against Gnostic Christians and helped bring in the dark ages by killing the intelligentsia.

How can you not hate the hangers on to such a damaging religion?

You should as your god next time you pray.

Especially now as they unearth many native children from Christian Residential Schools, even as stupid natives continue to fly the cross of the religion that was forced upon them in the first place.

    Regards

Another Jesus just declared himself in Australia.

    Get in line.

Good gods do not kill when they can cure, the way the genocidal Yahweh does.

If you are not talking to nature telepathically, you are not talking to god.

I did it once and suffered the pain and pleasure of it.

Tell us of yours and what enlightenment you received from god.

Tell me yours and I will tell you mine, and I bet mine is more impressive.

    P.M. If shy.

    Yes.

Even if wrong, I will never condone genocide and those who promote it.

I will would prefer to roast in hell forever, --- than spend eternity in your heaven, --- with Yahweh, Jesus, / the terrible Twins, ST Hitler and his ilk.

Gandhi and I will be playing chess with all the moral people.

We intelligently rejected a life of being stupid and uneducated, for a life of knowledge and wisdom.

If Christianity had usurped Yahweh from the Jews in a better way, not reversing the morals of the story, what a religion it would be.

Adam was a hero to Jews and Christians made him responsible for Original Sin.

Christians ignore the Original Virtue version because of their hate for women and gays.

I see no evidence of that. The Sumerian-Akkadian loan-word the Hebrews use -- rendered s-t-n but now as satan after vowels were added -- is in masculine form, and in any event, it simply means "accuser" or "one who accuses" and is not specific to any god-thing. Furthermore, satan is not a proper noun and not the name of any person. Identifying it with a person is purely an x-tian thing and of late.

That is sheer fantasy and a fallacy since it is an anachronism.

Angels are a modern x-tian thing that you're trying to crow-bar into the word melachim, which simply means messengers (plural as all "im" endings in Classical Biblical Hebrew are plural.)

The "sons of gods" were already here, so your comment is inanely nonsensical.

    Nobody genocided [sic] anything.

If you're referring to the Deluge, which idiot x-tians erroneously refer to as the Flood, you couldn't be more wrong and you don't even understand how religious ideology and thought evolves over time, not to mention you are unread and ill-informed.

Nergal, a son of Enki, had dominion over southern Africa which was often rendered in Sumerian-Akkadian texts as "down under." Note that the Greeks, because of their world view that Earth was flat, were unable to grasp the concept of a spherical Earth with lands above and below the equator, thus they mistranslated the word as "underworld" which later became known as Hell.

Nergal observed an non-descriptive celestial phenomenon, which we know now from geological and physical evidence, as well as the oral histories of tribal groups in the Pacific Northwest and eastern Siberia to have been a comet/asteroid.

Nergal consulted with his father Enki, and brother Ningishiddza (whose domain was western Africa) and both sought the advice of Enki's first-born son Marduk. They brought their findings before the council of gods led by Enlil, and consisting of 10 male and 1 female god.

The Sumerians claim it was Enki, Ningishiddza, and Enlil's half-sister Ninhursag who created humans, and Enlil hated both Enki and humans, so if this event brought the destruction of human life on Earth, that was fine and dandy.

Enki found a way without breaking his oath of silence to inform his favorite follower, a guy named Ziusurda. Enki gave him instructions on how to build a submersible vessel and then the name of the most renown ship captain to pilot it.

The gods watched this event unfold, apparently from a place not on Earth, because they were horrified and shocked by the devastation and even Enlil regretted not intervening to help humans. Later, apparently now on Earth, Enlil is surveying the destruction and smells smoke, then finds Ziusurda and a host of others alive and well, but he ain't mad, because he regrets not helping humans. A rainbow appears, and Enlil says that is the sign of the promise that nothing like this will happen again.

That tells us a lot about the Sumerians and Akkadians.

This was a natural phenomenon and the gods chose not to intervene, but regretted not doing so.

Centuries later when the Sumerians and Akkadians are long gone, the theological thought shifts to this was an event caused by the gods, and the gods refused to intervene because they're miserable bastards, but then regretted their lack of action

Then, centuries later when those civilizations were long gone, Hebrew theology shifts that to the gods caused the event to punish sinners, then regretted it.

This event was real. A large asteroid/comet entered Earth's atmosphere at low trajectory over the North Polar Region and transited the Bering Strait, where it was witnessed by tribal groups in eastern Siberia and the Pacific Northwest, but not by groups in the eastern Americas, southern Asia, Africa, Europe or the Middle East.

    Yes, the spherical geometry thing.

Entering at such a low trajectory, the dense atmosphere caused severe oblation and the comet/asteroid starting breaking apart, throwing chunks in Canada and the US, and of course in the Pacific Ocean. It struck in close proximity to the Western Antarctic Ice Sheet causing it's destruction along with a terrifying tsunami that raced up the west and east Pacific coast lines and through the Indian Ocean into the Arabian Sea, destroying life on those coastal areas.

The Sumerians claim the event happened during the Age of Leo, hence the Sphinx in Egypt as a monument (which probably faced a similar Sphinx in western India).

Note that the Western Antarctic Ice Sheet is only 8,000 years old, meaning something destroyed it and it started reforming circa 6,000 BCE.

The Eastern Antarctic Ice Sheet was unaffected, which begs the question what can destroy the Western Sheet but not the Eastern?

You can rule out climate change, so they only two possibilities left are an underwater volcano that underwent a catastrophic eruption (for which there is no evidence) or an asteroid/comet strike. There's also areas of the US and part of Canada that show evidence of massive wild fires that burned for weeks/months, as evidenced by the charcoal layer corresponding to ~12,000 years ago.

It tells you a lot about how the people perceived the role of gods in their society.

Remember that early civilizations were quite ethnocentric. For the Greeks, Romans, Hebrews, and even Western Europeans, the known world was the inhabited world where civilization exists and the rest of the world was uninhabited or had only "barbarians."

Yes, as far as they're concerned, if you killed everyone in the Middle East, then you've killed everyone in the World.

Satan is not, and that's an ethnocentric view, since in the modern era, Megiddo is of no consequence. It has no strategic value and is of no military importance, and it would play no role in modern war-fighting concepts.

Perhaps 2,500 years ago, Megiddo might have been of some military importance to at least one group of people, but not now.

Seriously, who in history need control of Megiddo to accomplish anything? No one.

Not east Asian but Asian which was different back in those days. I used to think Asia Minor was East Asia but it's not. And, the 10 tribes that were lost assimilated into Europe and Asia Minor. They are now mostly Christians. The DNA is actually accurate.
If you want to make archeology claims then you have to do more than cut and paste. Jeff has a ton of references. I like his site because he is quite fair in his analysis and yet supports the Church 100%. Here is one post that you may like to look at:
"My review of An LDS Guide to the Yucatan is on the Mormanity blog, dated Nov. 25, 2012. The book takes you step-by-step through a trip into the Yucatan. The sites covered are Ek Balam, Chichen Itza, Uxmal, Loltun Cave (an amazing site where pre-Columbian horse remains were found), Kabah, Xpujil, Calakmul, Becan, Cancuén and Coba. For each site, the primary text discusses the history and significance of the site, accompanied with some great photography, while sidebars provide information on how they traveled there and on some specific Book of Mormon topics such as horses, metals, elephants, fortifications, warfare, the honeybee, Quetzlacoatl, and gold plates. Gold plates? Yes, the section on metals has some interesting material not widely known to Latter-day Saints. Here is an excerpt from page 49:

Notwithstanding the popular belief that the Maya did not have metal, most museums will have a small display of copper and bronze objects in their Mesoamerican section. We were fortunate enough to have been granted a research visit at the Peabody Museum at Harvard in April of 2007. During this visit, we saw and handled blades and knives of various sizes and configurations from their collections in storage. Some are rough and green with age, but some are still smooth and without copper's green corrosion, indicative of an alloy like bronze. We also saw large copper spearheads, something we had not known of before and did not expect. Surprisingly, included in this collection are some iron blades and implements, which we saw as well. They are pre-Columbian and were found in mounds in Costa Rica. See the chapter on Kabah for more information.

Those who still assert that the Maya had no metal implements must not have visited many museums or read Landa's description of metal blades and tools. [Landa, Yucatan Before and After the Conquest, pp. 50, 90, 94.] While they did primarily use stone and obsidian as cutting blades, it is certain that they had weapons and tools of metal as well. Just how common these were will probably remain unanswered, as the damp climate of Mesoamerica is not conducive to the preservation of metals."

If given the opportunity, learn all we can about the Fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Become more Christ-Like. Follow the Commandments and repent daily. Accept Baptism by one with the authority to do so and receive the Holy Ghost from one with Authority. Much more.

No, Native Americans aren't just related to Asians, East Asians, specifically the Chinese and Siberians. They aren't closely related to any Middle Eastern, Jewish, African, or European groups.

The Kingdom of Israel was assimilated into the Assyrian Empire which was centered in Iraq and were absorbed into Assyrian populations. I don't see any evidence they reached Europe.

Well Jeff basically disagrees with the entire community of experts on pre-Columbians cultures. I am highly highly skeptical of his claims as are historians and archeologists.

We do know that pre-columbians societies had fortifications. But there is no evidence of cement walls like the Book of Mormon claims. There is also no evidence of horses, cattle, or elephants in the Americans while these societies existed.

Its well known that pre-Columbian societies has some metallurgy but these were mostly for non-military uses. We do not see metal armor or metal weapons or metal chariots. And they didn't have a lot of metal items. There is also no evidence of a white civilization either.

Thanks for telling me what "The Truth" is according to LDS. This is the same truth taught by many Christian Churches so they must have recieved the same Truth as you folks.

Unfortunately - this is not "The Truth" according Jesus except for the "Follow the commandments" part .. "The Truth - The Way - The Light"

Mormon Doctrine redefines Grace thus destroying the intent of the cross. I believe Apostle Paul said "By Grace you are saved, not by works and not that of yourselves, it is the gift of God". No amount of child bearing, no amount of praying for the dead, and no magic underwear is ever going to change that.

IMHO, Dennis.....all one has to do is study the Gospel of John seriously. Look nowhere else and pray, to KNOW Jesus is the eternal God. Nothing aside.
