yeah thats how stocks work, they react. When they went up was it because of what Trump said about bringing jobs back?

I doubt it. More likely the promise of massive tax cuts and switching to a territorial tax system. Having all of the Goldman Sachs people running things helped as well.

Doubtful, since many support Trump simply because he makes liberals angry or shares their own biases. The actual job he has is far less important than who he slanders while he's doing it. Right now, the spite voters are in heaven. Trump constantly tweeting about how evil liberals are, the media, the government. It's a wonder any of these folks can see past the all the spoogy that must be covering their entire monitor/TV at this point.

Why would major investors in stocks care about where the jobs are? The like the flexibility to move jobs everywhere.

    Mishmash?

Well, let's focus on one thing, your agreement something needs to be done about China.

What would propose? Everything previous administrations have done has resulted in nothing.

So, you seem to know better. Lay it out.

True, it wasn't Trump's doing that the momentum of the Obama recovery continued into the beginning of the Trump administration. All Trump had to do was restrain himself from screwing it up, and he could have taken credit for a booming economy.

His first year in office, Trump didn't little to undermine the Obama recovery, but eventually Trump couldn't resist undoing everything that Obama accomplished. After Trump was in office about a year, he and Congress got around to their inept economy-busting measures (enormous budget deficit, talking down US businesses, provoking other countries to set high tariffs on US goods, threatening to cancel NAFTA and thereby threatening American farmers with bankruptcy, etc.)

You can't give credibly give Trump credit for the rising stock market and economic optimism that he inherited from Obama. You can only give him credit for eventually screwing them up.

As I write this on the morning of April 4, the Dow futures point to a market opening down another 500 points. The stock market has been going one step up and two steps down since January 21.

Probably not. Trump inherited a rising market, and it took him some time to figure out how to screw it up.

I'd say that's bad, just like the anti-trump people would proclaim disaster if it goes up another 7000 points.

If you made a killing last year, you owe Obama and Janet Yellen a vote of thanks. The effects ofTrump's dysfunctional policies didn't kick in until this year.

As of now it would appear that your hope of going up another 7000 points isn't going to happen anytime soon.

Why is what? Are you asking why it is I don't care where Trump will be if he's not in office?

I am also expecting a boom in real estate.......
but mostly in rural areas as Americans seek to
take advantage of their ability to work from home.....
and also to become more self sufficient and less dependent on
huge agribusiness that are playing with fire with GMO technology.

Could a real estate boom plus better Fed policy pay off USA national debt?

Adults would get together with our country's allies and pursue a joint policy to pressure China to reform its trade policies without throwing temper tantrums in public. Our childish president isn't getting very far with his public attempts to cause China to lose face. China will do everything it can to save face in this public brawl.

I thought the "adults" opposed policies "to pressure China to reform its trade policies?" I mean, what have these adults done about it? In fact, these same adults gave China most favored nation status while we were having the same trade and intellectual property disputes. It sounds like the "adults" policies have been simply to roll over for China at every opportunity.

Are you talking about the adults of decades ago who made the mistake of granting China membership in the WTO? I think those adults retired long ago and are no longer in charge of our policies. The adults today who might effectively deal with China without wrecking the US economy in the process include our G7 allies, but Trump's uniformed tweets have ticked most of them off.

Also, let me bring you up to date on "Most Favored Nation" status. The United States did away with that term and replaced it with "Normal Trade Relations." There are only two countries in the world with which the United States does NOT have normal trade relations: Cuba and North Korea. Apart from the sanctions, our country even has "normal trade relations" with Iran and Russia.

I'm always glad to help you update your knowledge to 21st Century standards, Mike.

The US did away with that term in the 90's when this was a hotly debated subject. So yes, I'm talking about the "adults" who helped cause this mess, and every "adult" who has been in a position of power since then and seemed perfectly happy with the situation. I've been waiting for their solutions for decades and have heard nothing.
