And in 20 years we will need to build a new SCOTUS building about the size of an NFL stadium for all 20,000 SCOTUS judges.

We know we are being entertained when a poster trots out statism. Keep the right wing vocabulary coming, I am starting a thesaurus of right wing gibberish.

In order to say the EC should be dissolved, you would have to admit that you belueve the voter in Wyoming shouldn't have a vote.

I can't stand Trump, but the electoral college performs a necessary function. Getting rid of it would do exactly what the critics of it's removal say it would: Allow the presidency to be decided by a handful of highly populated areas of the country. We are the UNITED STATES meaning each state should have a say. The electoral college allows that to happen in a straight-forward way. The only modifications I think would be necessary would be to require the electoral votes of a state to go to the candidate that wins the popular vote in that state, but that is already how it works for the most part anyway.

Trump winning the White House and Hillary losing it does not mean the electoral college is bad.

The EC produced Trump and Bush.

    It is a failure.

    Change it.

Elitists are easily entertained as they look down their noses at the masses they hope someday to utterly control.

We were never intended to be a democracy, we are a Constitutional republic.

See, this is where your argument falls down. This is not a true democracy, this is a republic, and it's not just one republic, it's 50 republics. Do not make a fetish out of democracy. Democracy is not the end goal, it is only a means to a goal, and the goal is freedom. It is by no means a sure-fire way to reach it, since Germany was a democracy before Hitler took over and Albania voted in Communism, but so far, democracy (more accurately, republicanism) is the best way to ensure continued freedom. Other forms of government lead to tyranny much faster. But democracy can, too. We do not automatically assume in the United States that the winner of the popular vote is the best candidate for the job.

Do you know Chavez of Venezuela was elected by a popular vote? The American Fathers understood the popular vote is nothing more than mob rule which is why they decided on the electoral college which gives the minority the same equal vote as the majority. Only the majority push for a popular vote.

How laughable: 'statism' and 'elitism' is the best the far right can do?

You will the GOP disaster coming long before November next year, so you can trot out new words.

If Hillary won, it would have been a disaster as well as Trump has been.

We need political reform so such t*** burgers don't even get on the grill.

No. How about one person in Wyoming gets one vote and that vote counts just as much as any other vote. See how easy it is?

But no one would care about that 1 vote because it's not worth the stop. Instead, all politicians would only worry about the coasts.

The EC can be made useless by enough state leges, if each one agrees to go with the candidate who gets the most votes.

The OP apparently is clueless that we are a democratic republic. It may be a function of living in the city where political leaders plan out their lives.

The word Democracy is nowhere to be found in either the Declaration of Independence or the Constitution, which essentially abolishes democracy or simple majority rule for the cause of individual human rights. I also personally believe that rural inhabitants have more common sense than city dwellers. And so, if their voices are magnified by an electoral college, then that is a good thing. And the electoral college earned its value in the last Presidential election. Furthermore, Clintons 3% popular vote advantage wasn't exactly a mandate or that she or the nation were somehow robbed of an overwhelming victory. It was a simple majority. And Trumps 48-49% popular vote was hardly slim pickings either, imo.

Democratic practice is found through out the Constitution, so you guys can get off the republic only riff.

The EC showed its corruption in the last Presidntial election.

The 18,000,000 more who voted for Trump voted for him was a mandate that something bad happened, yes.

That will corrected and then some in 2020 when the GOP and their candidates crash and burn.

That should have been eighteen million more voted against Trump than for him.

The next decade will see the EC made immaterial.

Just get 38 states to agree with you, and you're good.

    using that math...
    total votes in 2016: 136,669,237
    total chillie votes: 65,853,516

means 70,815,721 voted against her, which is more than half the votes, which means the majority of the country didn't want her...

iow, the electoral college got it correct ;)

There are only 538 electors for the president.
