I suspect the polls will tighten once the conventions are over.

Face it...you are NOT going to vote for Clinton if your an Evangelical.

Thus it makes no sense for any GOP candidate to cater to your group.

    Sure they will.

But if Trump want's to win...he MUST campaign from a much more moderate standpoint.

And in a more general sense... open their clogged ears/minds. They aren't EVEN listening to the general outcry of ALL the American people. Sure, I understand catering to their "base"... but those people aren't the ONLY Americans that need to be heard/represented.

They need to drop the extremist and intransigence; there must be 'compromise' in a society such as this one.

The GOP are big government growers and spenders. Clear Leftist ideals.

That's similar to the excessively homophobic behavior that lots of closeted gay men get into as well.

    Exactly.

Catering to a base that no longer exists in any sizable numbers is idiocy.

After Bush W there was ZERO CHANCE that any Republican would win the Presidency for at least 8 to 12 years.

This country needs to shift farther right socially than it is now. But you lovers of immorality would just love to get rid of all criminal law.

The GOP has become socially conservative and fiscally liberal. The exact opposite of the US population.

Bush and his circle were those Republicans I mentioned in my first post.

What you have just posted is EXACTLY what is causing the collapse of the GOP.

The GOP should stick to concentrating upon helping to develop a business environment conductive to growth and jobs.

    Discussing religion just hurts them.

Those day's are long gone in 21st century America.

Many of the most homophobic men I've met and/or heard about, were either unsure of their own sexuality OR covering some alternative orientation of their own.

You're out of touch there. The nation shifted MUCH further toward the religious right... since the 1980's, but most of that was TALK and little action. Politicians (especially) put on facades (shows) to garner "Christian" votes... leading to MANY people absolutely mixing their religion with political shenanigans.

And make no mistake about it... the sowing of such deception and hypocrisy DID have the effect of chasing MANY honest and decent people AWAY from God/religion. Some of the loudest proponents of such "morality" (as you refer to) were corrupt preachers and deceptive politicians; "conservative", "Republican" people.

Morality cannot be legislated. But I would agree that certain behaviors can be deterred with the threat of prosecution and directly applied penalties. (That reminds me... some of the Wall Street types have been allowed to get away with a LOT of terrible things.)

Becoming 'moderates' would make the most sense on ALL sides. All this, "My way or the highway!", BS... isn't doing America a damned bit of good (overall).

It isn't clear that the US population is fiscally conservative at all. This election is going to come down to Trump vs. Clinton, and neither of them are fiscally conservative.

I am kind of hoping that we Canadians can get something going that will bring the G.O.P. into being more accurate regarding the seriousness of climate change.

And it's only going to get worse as migration continues and jobs dry up.. There has to be a voice of honesty and I personally don't believe the Democrat party is that when it comes to Social funding and current economic trends!

The G.O.P. needs to take a serious look at what was accomplished by President Lincoln and attempted by JFK.

But..... we need to direct those 4.3 Trillion in a manner that will elevate how economists in most nations look at money itself and its relationship to productivity.

Trump has given the bullies of America new hope of being capable of even being President after high school - he just forgot to tell them you have to be born on 3rd base too
