Until he is held accountable for something, anything, he will continue to flout the law.

Wrong, I think just as many conservatives as liberals understand it. The first amendment bans government from preventing free speech. The judge in question is correct and decided correctly.

Of course he will. He's a career criminal. All he does is slime his ay out of legal trouble. I still can't believe he's pulling the "race" card against James. Non-white people go before white judges and juries and prosecuting attorneys every single day and they are told Lady Justice is "blind". That's BS but it's very telling that his flock believes his latest victimhood ploy. /smdh

Trump pays $110,000 fine but must do more to lift contempt order, New York AG’s office says

Former President Donald Trump paid a $110,000 fine imposed as part of a contempt-of-court order against him, but has failed so far to take all the steps required to lift the order, the New York attorney general’s office said Friday.

Trump has until Friday to fulfill all of the requirements for the contempt order to be purged. If he does not do so, a $10,000-per-day fine against Trump could be reinstated.

Alina Habba, an attorney for Trump, did not immediately respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Manhattan Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron held Trump in contempt last month, after New York Attorney General Letitia James’ office argued that Trump had failed to comply with a subpoena for documents as part of its civil investigation.

No doubt that money came from the nitwits who gave him donations to stop the non-existent steal.

Trump complied with some of those conditions, a spokesperson for James’ office said. Trump paid $110,000 to the office on Thursday, and a digital forensics company completed a required review of his files that same day, according to the spokesperson.

But as of 12:15 p.m. ET on Friday, the former president’s lawyers had not completed a third condition: submitting new affidavits that give more detail about their search for documents sought by the investigators, the spokesperson said.

Kushner’s and Mnuchin’s Quick Pivots to Business With the Gulf

Shortly before the 2020 election, Trump administration officials unveiled a U.S. government-sponsored program called the Abraham Fund that they said would raise $3 billion for projects around the Middle East.

Spearheaded by President Donald J. Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner, the fund promised to capitalize on diplomatic agreements he had championed between Israel and some Arab states — pacts known as the Abraham Accords. Steven Mnuchin, then Treasury secretary, helped inaugurate the fund on a trip to the United Arab Emirates and Israel, hailing the accords as “a tremendous foundation for economic growth.”

It was little more than talk: With no accounts, employees, income or projects, the fund vanished when Mr. Trump left office. Yet after Mr. Kushner and Mr. Mnuchin crisscrossed the Middle East in the final months of the administration on trips that included trying to raise money for the project, each quickly launched a private fund that in some ways picked up where the Abraham Fund had ended.

Mr. Kushner and Mr. Mnuchin brought along top aides who had helped court Gulf rulers while promoting the Abraham Fund, and soon, both were back in the same royal courts asking for investments, although for purely commercial endeavors.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2022/05/22/business/jared-kushner-steven-mnuchin-gulf-investments.html

Another grotesque example of this self-serving admin riddled with corruption.

But Mr. Kushner and Mr. Mnuchin stand out, ethics experts said, for the speed of their pivots and for the sums they raised from foreign rulers they had recently dealt with on behalf of the United States.

The Saudi investment with Mr. Kushner was made despite an advisory panel’s objections about his lack of relevant experience, the absence of other big investors, a high fee and the “public relations risk” of his ties to the former president, according to the minutes of a Saudi Public Investment Fund meeting last June that were obtained by The Times. Ethics experts suggested that the payment could be seen as a bid for influence if his father-in-law returned to office.

This is something Garland, or Inspectors General, need to start an investigation of immediately.

Judge dismisses Trump’s lawsuit seeking to stop New York civil probe

A federal judge on Friday tossed out former President Donald Trump’s lawsuit seeking to stop the New York attorney general’s probe of his business dealings.

Trump alleged in the suit that New York Attorney General Tish James violated his constitutional rights by launching an investigation into the Trump Organization “in bad faith and without a legally sufficient basis.” James in the probe is exploring whether alleges the Trump Organization misstated the values of assets in financial statements — a claim that emerged out of Congressional testimony from a former Trump lawyer.

Peter Navarro, Former Trump Aide, Gets Grand Jury Subpoena in Jan. 6 Inquiry

Peter Navarro, who as a White House adviser to President Donald J. Trump worked to keep Mr. Trump in office after his defeat in the 2020 election, disclosed on Monday that he has been summoned to testify on Thursday to a federal grand jury and to provide prosecutors with any records he has related to the attack on the Capitol last year, including “any communications” with Mr. Trump.

The subpoena to Mr. Navarro — which he said the F.B.I. served at his house last week — seeks his testimony about materials related to the buildup to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, and signals that the Justice Department investigation may be progressing to include activities of people in the White House.

Mr. Navarro revealed the existence of the subpoena in a draft of a lawsuit he said he is preparing to file against the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Matthew M. Graves, the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

Georgia AG Subpoenaed In Investigation Into Trump’s Election Steal Scheme

Georgia attorney general Chris Carr (R) was reportedly subpoenaed in an investigation looking into former President Trump’s unsuccessful efforts to subvert the 2020 presidential election results in the battleground state, according to the Associated Press and CNN.

The subpoena requests Carr’s testimony in late June. Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger (R) — who infamously refused to carry out Trump’s demand that he somehow “find” the votes needed to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in the battleground state — has also reportedly been subpoenaed. Raffensperger was reportedly summoned to appear before the special grand jury in the investigation on Thursday.

Then-President Trump called Carr in late Dec. 2020, urging the state attorney general against joining other Republicans in opposing a lawsuit that Trump’s allies filed with the Supreme Court. The lawsuit was part of Trumpworld’s election steal scheme that sought to toss millions of votes in the 2020 presidential election in Georgia and other battleground states that handed victories to Biden.

The Supreme Court rejected the lawsuit a day after Trump’s call with Carr.

Raffensperger Testifies For Hours Before Special Grand Jury Probing Election Steal Scheme

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) on Thursday testified before a special grand jury investigating former President Trump’s fruitless efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results in the battleground state, according to multiple reports.

Raffensperger was reportedly summoned to appear before the special grand jury in the investigation last week. Raffensperger famously rejected Trump’s demand that he somehow “find” the votes needed to overturn Joe Biden’s victory in Georgia.

Upon arriving at the courthouse in downtown Atlanta on Thursday morning, Raffensperger replied that his testimony would be “hopefully short” when asked by a reporter about how long it would last, according to the Associated Press.

In reality, Raffensperger left the courthouse more than five hours later by another exit, avoiding reporters, the AP reported. Raffensperger’s testimony reportedly lasted for four hours, according to Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Michigan widens probe into voting system breaches by Trump allies: report

Michigan State Police has warrants to seize voting equipment and election records across three towns and one county as it ramps up its probe into allies of former President Trump attempting to gain unauthorized access to voting systems, according to a new Reuters report.

The expansion of the investigation, which happened in the last six weeks, includes records such as search warrants and investigators’ memos that show the efforts of state authorities to obtain voting machines, poll books, data storage devices and phone records, according to Reuters.

Overall, there were at least 17 incidents across the country, including 11 in Michigan, in which Trump supporters gained or sought to access voting machines without authorization, Reuters added.

House panel probes ‘serious deficiencies’ in Trump’s accounting of foreign gifts

A House committee on Tuesday announced an investigation into former President Donald Trump over his administration's apparent failure to properly record gifts from foreign government officials as required by law.

House Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., sent a letter Monday to the National Archives seeking documents about "mismanaged gifts" received from foreign government officials while Trump was in office. She said the committee's concerns stem from information recently provided by the State Department.

“These revelations raise concerns about the potential for undue influence over former President Trump by foreign governments,” Maloney wrote.

Fox News Parent Forced To Face Dominion Defamation Suit Under Judge’s Order

    Let The Reapin’ Begin
Delaware Superior Court Judge Eric M. Davis rejected a bid by Fox News’ parent company, Fox Corp., to toss out Dominion Voting Systems’ defamation lawsuit on Tuesday.

    • The judge ruled that Fox Corp. chair Rupert Murdoch and his son, Fox Corp. CEO Lachlan, may have acted with “actual malice” when allegedly directing Fox News to peddle debunked conspiracy theories about Dominion voting machines. Rupert Murdoch himself had told Trump that he lost the election, the judge noted, yet Fox went ahead with the conspiracy theories anyway.
    • That marks a second blow to Rupert Murdoch’s efforts to fend off Dominion’s defamation suits over Fox News’ coverage: Davis allowed Dominion’s massive $1.6 defamation suit against Fox News to proceed in December.

Faux has deep pockets so I think we can expect a significant out of court settlement to try to save face.

FBI Seizes Nevada GOP Chair’s Phone In Escalation Of Fake Trump Elector Probe

The FBI seized Nevada Republican Party chair Michael McDonald’s phone on Wednesday after executing a search warrant as part of the federal investigation into ex-President Donald Trump’s fake elector scheme, according to local news outlet 8 News Now.

McDonald was on the slate of so-called “alternate electors” that Trump planned on using in his plot to steal the 2020 election by having Joe Biden’s electors thrown out and replacing them with his fake ones.

The FBI also issued a search warrant on Wednesday for another top Nevada GOP official who served as a sham Trump elector: state party secretary James DeGraffenreid. However, agents reportedly couldn’t find him.

Here's part of the coup plot that never got off the ground thanks to members of the DoJ who recognized the highly unethical nature (shades of the Saturday Night Massacre) of what Trump wanted to do.
Jan. 6 panel set to dig into Trump's DOJ meddling
Donald Trump’s bid to seize a second term that he didn’t win ran into an early obstacle: The Justice Department kept debunking his false claims of fraud. On Thursday, the Jan. 6 select committee hopes to reveal new information about that chapter of the 2020 election.

Rather than accepting his advisers’ evidence that no widespread fraud affected the outcome, Trump demanded that DOJ legitimize his subversion — and when it didn’t, he developed a plan to replace its leadership with more pliable officials. At its fifth public hearing, focused on Trump’s deployment of DOJ, the select panel also intends to show how some of his allies counted on his sweeping presidential pardon power to insulate them from potential criminal consequences.

Top officials at the department thwarted the then-president's efforts by threatening a mass resignation.
    www.politico.com

In early January 2021, one top Justice Department official was so concerned that then-President Donald Trump might fire his acting attorney general that he drafted an email announcing he and a second top official would resign in response.

The official, Patrick Hovakimian, prepared the email announcing his own resignation and that of the department’s second-in-command, Richard Donoghue, as Trump considered axing acting attorney general Jeff Rosen. At the time, Hovakimian was an associate deputy attorney general and a senior adviser to Rosen.

The never-sent email, a copy of which was obtained by POLITICO, highlights the pressures at the department as the former president tried to overturn his loss.

The hearings has reminded me that although many Trump admin officials were negligent in not going public with what they knew about Trump's coup plot, at least they had enough of a sense of duty to the country to reject his plans.

Cheney Draws Line From Fake Electors To Jeff Clark
Important moment just now: Rep. Cheney just drew a line between the last two hearings and today’s.

In her telling, the draft DOJ letter existed in part to prod swing states that Trump had lost to certify the pro-Trump electors as real, instead of the Biden ones.

The letter “indicates that a separate ‘fake’ slate of electors, supporting Donald Trump, has already been transmitted to Washington, D.C.” Cheney said.

That’s key: It draws a line between what Clark wanted to do, and what outside Trump attorneys like John Eastman, Ken Chesebro, and Rudy Giuliani were trying to accomplish. Two hands, potentially working together.

“Had this letter been released on official Department of Justice letterhead, it would at falsely informed all Americans … that President Trump’s concerns were likely very real,” Cheney added.
