but the laws are still just a means to an end. you said you would find it acceptible if our gun death rate were comparable to canada. i never asked which country you think we should model our laws after. if we acheived a gun death rate similar to canada without the laws 'that you like', would you be satisfied that those laws were unecessary?
Well I think the laws you push are unreasonable. Explain objectively, why a law you prescribe is reasonable... what is the criteria for proclaiming some reasonable, by what measure.
Those authorizations are for risky employment purposes only. The average joe can’t carry a pistol in public. This law is the single most efffective law at reducing gun crime stats in Canada. You can’t expect significant reduction in gun crime in America unless you mimic this Canadian law.
Humor me and answer this hypothetical. If your restrictionist theory of Registration, universal background checks, mandatory safety course, wait periods, firearms licenses were tested, and made no tangible difference in gun crime numbers, what would be your next move to persue your passion of saving lives of gun crime victims?
The same laws that have been proven would require more than one trillion dollars a year, just to hire a sufficient number of ATF agents to ensure the paperwork requirements are being complied with?
Well that is an opinion. We see much less restrictive laws in some states in the US and they have less gun deaths
That is true, the States with the least restrictions on firearms have the fewest deaths, the States with the most firearms restrictions have the most deaths starting with California and Washington D.C., although the Capital is not a State, it is at the top of the list for Gun Control and highest murder statistics.
Why won't any of our anti gun advocates answer this EASY QUESTION if crime control is their real goal, why don't they push for laws that are directed at those who cause crime?
that has to be one of the most silly responses I have ever seen what you are saying is we need to target law abiding citizens BEFORE they engage in criminal activity its incredibly disgusting I Want everyone to read what he wrote and let it sink in
Because the goal is saving lives. It always has been. Crime is just a part of that. Are you opposed to saving lives?
so you're saying folks with a good driving record should not have to comply with Stop Signs and Traffic Lights? they should simply be trusted to drive carefully?
you completely confuse the issue everyone has to obey laws against using guns in a harmful way. you want to take cars away from people before they violate the traffic laws
that is not an answer nor is it responsive I don't believe your schemes will do that and I don't believe that is what motivates your schemes
no, i want everyone to follow Stop Signs and Stop Lights and Yield Signs, regardless of their steller driving record.
and I don't want anyone shooting at Bambi in the municipal park with a belt fed 50 caliber machine gun or shooting at starlings on Fountain Square with a 20MM triple a battery. I don't want school kids practicing combat pistol shooting in the school cafeteria or blasting swans in the petting zoo with automatic combat shotguns.
