The second amendment is just as relevant as it ever was. America is being overrun with authoritarian control freaks who want to tax, regulate, and monitor almost everything we do. An armed populace ensures they will remain somewhat in check.
Expect some changes to Florida law. Scott even with an A+ rating with the NRA is fired up and he determines what he will sign or not. Expect a change to the legal age to purchase an AR 15 in this state to 21. Maybe more.. Not sure how they can tackle the mental health aspect in less than 3 weeks. Our country and especially the alt left is so full of crap. Where was all of this noise about gun control when Pulse happened? Three times as many young people died... It faded to a non topic in a week. Oh wait they were all Latino and gay. Not marketable enough as survivors to push an agenda onto the country. A bunch of rich white kids get killed and now the progressive left sees a tool they can use to more effect. It's disgusting. At best it's non effective. At worse all of this attention will spark copycats. Just like this kid was himself. Media fueled his crazy.
The 2nd applies to a (regulated and trained) MILITIA. I'm all for an armed populace but the total anarchy that exists becuase weapon dealers have bribed the courts to grant 2nd protections to individuals is insane and unsupported by the text of the Constitution. If I were president, I'd issue an EO calling up the unorganized militia (all able bodied citizens ages 17-42) and ordering them to report their addresses and armaments if any (I wouldn't take anything, just a martial census). I'd repeat this process every year and try and get Congress to legislate it so it'd survive my presidency. Not calling up the militia is the basis for the current BS, as soon as a president were to do so, laws could be passed on private ownership without the 2nd getting thrown up as a roadblock.
The people are the militia. And well regulated simply means "proficient". It certainly isn't an invitation for the government to "regulate" arms.
We the people are the militia George Mason, Virginia delegate to the Constitutional Convention on the defination of the militia: “I ask, sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people, except for a few public officials.”
If he was Muslim you KNOOOOOOOOWWWW Trumpo and his tiny sausage fingers would be wildly tweeting about open borders and national security. YOu know he would.
Even in it's original form, it served for 200 years without there being an issue with the laws surrounding it, until it was distorted by SCOTUS activist judge Scalia in 2008. Then all hell broke loose with the gun fondlers and their running with that insane ball.
They are starting to have a big effect. https://www.yahoo.com/gma/dallas-ma...ty-annual-092303563--abc-news-topstories.html
Funny because it is such a desperate, ludicrous attempt to put the failings of the right onto the left. Hilarious and pathetic.
I posted early before I was done typing. Read my edit. I'm fully aware the people are the militia but 1 that's a defined term and 2 people not person.
You've really hit the nail on the head. Progressive leftists rely on hysterics and boogeymen and passionate causes often misled to get votes. That's why Trump won. America is tired of the theatrics. Russia collusion is fading, DACA pathway already was offered they turned it down but it will happen even if leftists fight it. Economy is thriving... Unemployment low, gas prices low, tax reform bill a huge success And the Liberals have no plan at all. No actions to be taken to make our country better just hysterics and division. Case in point this thread and its leftist driven one liners and hypocrisy. The left is using these children who are grieving and in shock to find something to keep hysterical about. Leftism is dying and they are not above using dead children to slow their own socialist progressive death as a political force.
People is merely an aggregate of person. The founders were explicit in their endorsement of individual rights. The idea that the second amendment protects anything other than an individual right to keep and bear arms is frankly asinine. The idea that the second amendment actually empowers the government to regulate arms is insane.
As we speak, someone who is obviously dangerous is planning on getting his face on the news. Unfortunately, there will be no effort to prevent this; only efforts to disarm good people.
And if he was a Muslim the left would be citing statistics, whining about Islmophobia and AG Loretta Lynch would threaten people with a hate crime if anyone said something to hurt their feelings.
That is an interesting point. But what can be done now? Can the SCOTUS reverse the damage that Scalia has done?
Bloombergs' anti-gun groups will be found to be behind it. Bloomberg loves astroturf to use in the gun control movement.
