Sort of like Dred Scott a total miss reading of the constitution general welfare meant general welfare within context of the enumerated powers if it meant merely general welfare then the rest of the constitution would be unnecessary as a government could do whatever was necessary for the general welfare. You single out the Kochs, but what about George Soros, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, and others who are as wealthy or more so and probably have a much greater voice and control over our government than do the Kochs?

The irony as I see it is that more government has not reduced the wealth disparity at all, but has created an environment in which the wealthiest have become the primary source of revenue supporting government spending which in turn has been the means by which their wealth has grown, resulting in inflation causing stagnation of wealth building for the middle class, and higher costs of government support for the poorest.

 

The Constitution was written by geniuses and it does not require wealth equality or intelligence equality or appearance equality or parenting equality or educational equality. If you want those things you must find a totalitarian state to live in. The American concept is the exact opposite

Our Founders demanded that there be NO STANDING ARMY which the deluded right wingers demand today. They more than anyone else opposed having a military industrial complex and corporate welfare. They also demanded and imposed separation of church and state which the deluded right wingers object to.

 

First of all, socialism and communism had not been created or invented when Paine led us, the French and many in Great Britain to grasp the essence of freedom from tyranny. You might be surprised to know that Paine actually was the founding father of our nation, his pamplets gave the colonists a way of understanding just how much freedom they did not have at the time.
