I have noticed all my life and as well on this forum how a high percentage of what can be called either Extremely Religious or Ultra-Religious individuals are extremely lacking in Mathematics and Science.

Now there are many good Christian High Schools and Colleges that even though they are Christian....still teach an excellent curriculum necessary for their Graduates to excel in our Mathematical and Scientific specific world of today.

But such graduates of these Christian Schools do not tend to be in the category of Highly or Ultra-Religious....even if they go to Church and might be capable of quoting scripture.

I have found that those who are Highly or Ultra-Religious are so lacking in basic Mathematical and Scientific skills and Knowledge that they will embarrass themselves posting on this forum and not even realize they are doing so.

I had to eliminate a few words to get the basic meaning in.

what do you mean by "ultra" religious, do you mean like a priest, or someone who is a hard line social conservative, or what?

A Priest is not necessarily Ultra-Religious but someone who will ignore REALITY in an effort to maintain their religious ideology I would consider Ultra-Religious.

you may have noticed that, however test score data says that minorities, who vote democrat, are very ignorant of math and science.

You need to watch and contemplate the meaning of the Movie/Book "The Life of Pi".

Some knowledge cannot be expressed in a mathematical formula.

Not all wisdom is found in a book.

Okay, because I've known plenty of people personally who are pretty religious and very intelligent, one of the smartest people I know is a devout Muslim and a doctor. I could also point to several people in history who were religious and intelligent, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr, Roger Bacon, and George Lemaitre to name a few.

It's not out of the ordinary for some highly ranked church officials to claim the old testament to have stories that are more metaphor than fact, Pope Francis for example recently stated that Adam and Eve were a "fable"

I must agree that putting spirituality before reason is.. well... stupid.... I don't personally believe in the bible, and I don't think that people who believe in the bible are necessarily dumb.. but there is a degree of putting ancient scripture before science and reason that I find to be unintelligent

Mathematics dictates everything...even a persons choices as our Brains act as a probability engine.

EVERYTHING can be described with Mathematics....absolutely everything including LOVE.

Just because someone might have Faith or be religious does not make them Ultra-Religious and a Zealot.

It is these people who I find are greatly lacking in such studies and education.

You assume this because you simply do not have either the education, knowledge base or intelligence to understand what I posted is not a BAD THING.

    But it is a REALITY.

Physics and Natural Physical Laws are described by Mathematics....and it is you who are showing a great deal of ignorance.

My take on it is thus: Not everyone has the aptitude for science or mathematics, and a large portion of those people also happen to end up embracing religion rather fiercely, as it suits their ways of thinking.

well that's why I asked for a clarification of what you mean, some people may consider a priest or the pope to be "ultra religious" as they are people who study their religion with passion and are deeply devout to their practices/principles

They use mathematics, they are not described by it. The study and description of the natural world is called physics, not mathematics. Learn a little...

The ignorance you are showing here is beyond sad.

Physics is the description of Natural Universal Laws using MATHEMATICS!!!

    Unreal.

A forever blind man, expounding with arrogance and condescension, to the sighted, on the uselessness of having vision... How Sad.

I wonder, will your soul ever grow enough in one life-time to even recognize that you could be wrong?

Probably the most ironic thing about your condition, because you sneer and scoff at faith, your endeavors in science and math will be forever hampered, undermined and limited by your over-weening hubris, and lack of faith.

Galileo, Newton, Volt, Kelvin, Tesla, Einstein, Maxwell, Salk, ....

Most of the greatest minds in the history of science and mathematics were are people with basic religious beliefs.

Has it occurred to you that fanatically worshiping atheism, science and math is just another form of Religeous Extremism?

Perhaps if you could substantiate your anecdote with some science and mathematics, you might lend your conclusions some credibility. It's funny how you would imply some superior knowledge over the faithful in science and math, and yet ignore both in the process. LOL, explain 'irony'....use math....show your work.

Yep, extremely religious folks such as Issac Newton never could understand science and mathematics:rolleyes:.
