My family is packed full of Bible thumping, science denying Trump worshipers. And I'm a non-believer with a science degree. Holiday get togethers can get interesting. My one brother always insists that he is the smart one, even though he struggled through high school with D's and C's while I sailed through with mostly A's and went to college on a scholarship. Every chance he gets, he takes a dig at me. Mostly though, I just write him off as being rather jealous. But then he did grow up insisting on a sibling rivalry that he could not win.

My other brother dropped out of high school in tenth grade. He ended up getting a diploma by going to an alternative school where he got high school credit for hanging out in a room full of losers, watching television and playing games. He used to be kind of cool. He even played bass in my band from time to time. I think he got off on the traveling more than the music, and eventually he became a cross country truck driver. It was traveling cross country with nothing much to listen to but right wing radio, he slowly slid to the red side. For at least a decade, everytime I've tried to talk to him, within a few minutes he turns the conversation to "his" latest idea which tends to sound an awful lot like something you'd hear on a right wing talk show. It is kind of eerie.

Then, of course, I've long lost count of the times that relatives and associates have told me how horrible people atheists are. How atheism leads to crime. But then I've seen the statistics. Just a little over 20% of the general population profess no belief yet only about 1% of the nation's prisons claim no belief. Obviously non believers are highly under represented in prisons and jails. I lived most my adult life in Boulder, one of the least religious cities in America, and has one of the lowest crime rates. It is why the police bungled the JonBenet Ramsey case. The police had almost no experience with murder cases.

Nope. My facts are facts and your ego and dysfunctional family can’t change that. If you want to claim my post wasn’t factual you will have to do more than post personal anecdotes. Your screwed up relationships have no bearing on the achievements of the innovators I referenced. It’s hilarious you think your family problems disprove factual information presented by me.

You claim others shun education yet here you are with an opportunity to be educated and you reject it.

 

Do they? Is that why liberal leadership in all areas of government so often are the architects and authors of the artificial limitation of intellectual curiosity that doesn't align with theirs?

 

I once read an article called the "Pompous Professions" This explains how someone like a lawyer will read medical books before questioning a doctor, then use the jargon in court to imply he is an expert in a field he knows nothing about. The syndrome of pomposity seems to be present in many of the "educated" who assume that holding a degree in anything is the equivalent of being superior in everything to anyone not holding a higher degree. Once had a client that was a neurosurgeon, who thought that made him qualified to dictate structural design to an architect, even tell an electrician how to do his job. I'm wondering-
Did your school offer a degree in pomposity?

 

Just call them what they are. Disgruntled former plantation owners who yearn to put the yoke of slavery back in place on those they consider beneath them. That is the true liberal dream these days.

He'd be utterly disgusted by modern progressives and he'd tell black lives matters to go to hell. Why? He was a liberal not a progressive.

The Kennedys, yeah umm they'd laugh AOC out of congress and would have sent the national guard after ANTIFA.

The constitution was written to protect America FROM people who think they are smarter and better equipped to lead.
In short the constitution was written to protect us from progressives.
