And note that the wall was based on Madison's "bulwark" of separation of church and state in his "Memorial and Remonstrance" which pre-dates the US Constitution.
Yup. Righties hate it when anyone equates their crowd with fascism and Hitler. But they have no trouble equating anyone else with Marxism and Stalin. Double standards - the usual order of the day for righties.
So true. All Hollywood fairy tales with no basis in reality. My favorite among all these mythical figures being the happy housewife in high heels: I cannot think of anything more laughable or more unrealistic. This is a complete fairy tale. Only the most delusional can possibly believe this myth has any reality at all. But it remains one of Hollywood's biggest and most popular myths.
It's moral if one thinks it is and immoral if one thinks it is....but one cannot force that belief on another.
LOL presiding over a court fill with 8 yes 8 FDR appointees and then there's the Truman appointees LOL Here's the first line from wiki "Warren led a liberal majority that used judicial power in dramatic fashion, to the consternation of conservative opponents. " LOL
What does any of this ^^^ have to do with the fact that a liberal court ruled against prayer in schools? Oh and nice ad hominem lol
Just a question here. If prayer is allowed in school then do the students get separated so they can have christian or muslim or jewish prayers? Are atheists allowed to dodge the thing altogether? What about satanists?
My point isn't that I like or dislike prayer In school. It's that if one was arguing that Democrats are a part moral decline that ruling could be pointed to because the people who ruled 6-1 were majority FDR appointees or Truman
Really? Morals declined because kids weren't forced to pray to a Christian god in a PUBLIC school? Gee, maybe their parents, who are responsible for their "morals", should have just forced them to pray at home more. OR if they wanted to pray they could pray silently without a big display of "Look at me, I Pray"... doesn't their god hear them if a prayer isn't out loud in public? Forced prayer isn't prayer.
FoxHastings said: ↑ I'm still waiting for someone to show what time in the history of humans everyone was "moral". That was it!!
So you're saying that prayer in school is more moral than not having prayer, so you do prefer prayer in school. So you should answer my question.
And which christian prayers, btw? There are 30,000 christian sects including fundies, baptists, RC's, Anglicans and even Mormons, so whose prayers do you choose? People go to school to learn things which are true, not fairytales.
Prayer is a part of religion is it not? Your question is irrelevant to my point which is removing prayer, the California Family act of 1969 giving no fault divorce and The federal government getting involved in child support 1974 were all major Democrat votes
So true. I remember reading American history books where it was shown how slavers took innocents kidnapped from Africa and forced to recite Christian prayers. They were told it was for their good but was actually a "justification" for promoting slavery.
Morality is subjective. There is no ultimate truth or morality. Societies change and evolve to exploit different niches and opportunities. We are not a moral or even rational species. We are given to be swayed by a host of culturally manufactured norms and emotional reactions to stimuli. People should read Berney's, "Propoganda" to understand how human response can be manipulated by emotive suggestion.
