There is always one that doesn't know what gerrymandering actually is.

It's direct proof how some liberals just parrot talking points they are given from their MSM masters.

See, and watch this one of the few things Bush did good was reform the GI-Bill, which then was expanded upon with Obama.

In Maryland's case, it had little to do with shenanigans, at the time i didnt know the blue state the poster was talking about.

And Hogan has worked with Obama, unlike those conservative loony toons elected at that time.

    Every president does some good.

A person needs to weigh that against the negative also though.

I'm currently doing that with Trump...
Trade war currently, worsened position at the border, Americans being roped into funding a BS handout to the rich hidden behind some guise of building a wall with tariffs.
Stock market crap, threatening Obamas Upswinging economy, BS healthcare reform, increased world tensions, etc, etc.

I'm sure there's a positive hes done for some...Just the fact he beat Hillary made a certain section of the population blissfully happy...So I guess that counts?

Maryland’s gerrymandering has everything to do with shenanigans. Why would they be under a federal mandate to draw fair districts.

Who would those conservatives be? Maryland’s Governor under Obama was the boy wonder, wannabe President, let’s tax the rain, Martin O’Malley.

The conservatives that slowed the economys growth, fighting everything Obama, Conservatives that would have had Hogan beheaded for supporting these issues.

Lawrence Joseph Hogan Jr. (born May 25, 1956) is an American politician serving as the 62nd Governor of Maryland.[1] Elected in 2014 and re-elected in 2018,

    Abortion and reproductive rights
Hogan personally opposes abortion but has said "he will not try to change Maryland's laws protecting women's rights to the procedure nor to limit access to contraception."[92] Although he made some pro-life comments in the early 1980s, he said in the 1990s that abortion should remain legal.[93] In 2016, Hogan signed a law making birth control cheaper.[94] In 2017, the legislature passed a bill to reimburse Planned Parenthood in the event that the federal government withdraws funding, and Hogan allowed the bill to become a law without his signature.[95][96] He characterized as unnecessary a 2018 initiative put forward by Democratic state lawmakers to protect abortion in the Maryland constitution but declined to oppose it and added that he supported allowing Marylanders to vote on it, which would automatically happen if the General Assembly were to approve it.[97] "Our laws in Maryland already guarantee a woman's right to choose," he said. "We have some very strong laws and any change in the Supreme Court would not affect Maryland, so I don't think that a constitutional amendment is required, but if that's what they want to do, I'm all for that. Let the voters decide."[98]

NARAL Pro-Choice America, a political action committee which supports legal abortion, rated Hogan as "mixed-choice" in February 2018.[99]

Paris Agreement and renewable portfolio standard
In June 2017, Hogan maintained support for the Paris Agreement and opposed the United States withdrawal from the Paris Agreement.[56] In January 2018, Hogan said Maryland would join the United States Climate Alliance formed by California, New York, and Washington.[57]

In 2016, Hogan signed legislation to reauthorize greenhouse gas reduction targets and mandate a 40% reduction in statewide carbon pollution by 2030.[56] In 2017, however, Hogan vetoed legislation that had been passed by the Maryland General Assembly to increase the use of renewable energy by setting a renewable portfolio standard to require that 25% of the state's electricity come from renewable sources (such as solar, wind, and hydroelectricity) by 2020. Hogan and the Maryland Republican Party led an unsuccessful campaign to sustain the veto, but the Democratic-controlled General Assembly overrode the veto in a party-line vote.[58]

    Immigration
Hogan opposed President Trump's decision to end the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.[60] He recalled Maryland National Guard forces from the U.S.-Mexico border to protest the Trump administration's family separation policy.[61]

    Same-sex marriage and LGBT rights
Hogan, as a gubernatorial candidate, said that he was "originally for civil unions" but that he has evolved to support the decision to legalize same-sex marriage. In 2014, Hogan opposed a transgender rights law signed by Governor O'Malley.[62] In May 2018, Hogan signed legislation into law making Maryland the 11th state to ban conversion therapy for minors.[63]

    Gun control
In October 2018, a law tightening gun control regulations that was signed by Hogan went into effect. The law banned bump stocks and banned gun ownership by convicted domestic abusers.[64] Hogan was endorsed by the National Rifle Association (NRA) in 2014, but in July 2018, Hogan said he would decline an endorsement and funds from the NRA if they were offered.[65] In September 2018, the NRA downgraded its rating of Hogan to "C" and declined to endorse him.[66]

It is true that Blue Establishment loves to spend. Red Establishment however loves to spend even more. Princesses with credit cards Red administrations have been - at least since and including Reagan.

Reagan and Daddy Bush Administrations spent huge and had very high deficits. The situation was so bad that Clinton (with the help of Congress) was forced to reign in spending and get the deficit down. Baby Bush was handed a near zero deficit - same thing .. massive spending. The deficit was so high by the time Obama got into office (1.4 Trillion) that Obama had to reduce deficits as well.

It was not that Blue did not want to engage in Princess Style spending - it was just that the mess left by Red was so big that they couldn't.

Obama decreased the deficit from 1.4 Trillion down to 500 Billion. Enter Trump - Now we are looking at running 1 Trillion dollar deficits again.

You are obviously living in some kind of revisionist history fairy tale land.

He passed the VA bill allowing veterans to use that guaranteed insurance at doctors outside of the VA network.

Nobody thinks that was a bad thing except for you I guess.

But they have not accomplished anything.
Even when they have full control of the gov't.

Oops, I remember them accomplishing the biggest recession this side of the great depression. Sorry.

    Blame blame blame.
For 2 yrs, and their own budget, the R's increased it and tRUMP signed it.
    Increasing debt.
The D's had no say in the budget that made the deficit worse.

When will R's ever own up and be responsible for the nothing they ever do.

They've done nothing since the 1990s, except put the country into the greatest recession this side of the great depression.

Oh wait, the rich got a tax cut and so did corporations.

In all fairness, I don't have time to dig up "all the information" so I go with what the person presents, and results.

While looking into it, it also seems Trump is stealing credit for even that bill from Obama...but I'm not done.

Was it a Freudian slip? You titled this thread "The Party with no Ideas" and then you only talked about the usual Republican silliness. I agree, they just keep peddling the same old same old. It is kind of a conservative thing, why try anything new.

It had grown so far so fast after Trumps election that it needed a breather to move up again. Once the trade issue is settled it will resume its upward course.

Then I guess that you will have to read the rest of the article to see the real lack of new ideas from the left.

What ya mean no ideas? The Democrat Socialist Party is FULL of ...ideas.. like:

    1. Green New Deal. This where you get paid even if you are capable of working but do not want to work. This plan only requires about 90 Trillion dollars a year, but this can be easily generated by taxing the rich 150%.

    2. Carbon Tax: Everyone emitting carbon dioxide, which as we all know, is a DEADLY gas that kills trees and vegetation, should be taxed until they STOP emitting C02.

    3. Cows and Airplanes and combustion engines must be replaced with Turtles, Helium Balloons, and bicycles and electric engine skateboards for the proletariat masses.

    4. Donald Trump should be found guilty of something.. anything.. just cause.. its not fair man.. losing that 2016 election when all the best tech globalist, whom ARE THE TRUTH .. they predicted 90% win for Hillary, and since its a Fact that computer always knows more than humans do, then there must have been a computer glitch caused by Russians.. and..

    5. Guns need to be eliminated and so that will stop the criminals shooting people.. it will work.. it worked in NAZI Germany and it worked in Stalin and Mao Communist so it can definitely work in USA... cause Bernie knows, cause he saw chandeliers in old Soviet Union subway, and that PROVES it works.

    6. Transgender women (still men, just think they are women) need special rights, that include using your daughters bathroom and competing in Olympics against actual REAL women, cause that's the natural thing to do.
