Don't you love how they lay all their cards on an interpretation of the rules by a political mouthpiece with an obvious bias when the rules themselves never once in any of the wording has suggestion or recommendation anywhere but they buy it from a political operative from the very organization with an obvious political motive to defend the players.

That is literally like trusting Pelosi to interpret the Constitution then believe her without actually reading it for yourself.

Never trust a politician. Read the rules for yourself. :handshake:

Amazing that the Left has talked the NFL into suicide.

Does the left ever want to win elections again?

Following Kaepernick? That's your first signal that the path isn't smart.

In 2016, a Quinnipac poll found that only 38 percent of those supported NFL players kneeling during the National Anthem. A Reuters poll found that 72 percent found the protest to be unpatriotic but also that 64 percent agreed there should be no punishment or fine.

Now pundits on the left are pushing that taking a knee during the national anthem is now a direct protest of Trump himself. D.C. Bureau chief for Mother Jones, David Corn outright stated “The kneel will now become a sign of opposition to Trump,” effectively hijacking the gesture from black activists. The Intercept wrote “The National Anthem is a Celebration of Slavery”

The left has chosen to make kneeling for the national anthem now a referendum on Trump himself. A larger problem for them, and the NFL in general, is they picked this fight on a day meant to honor Gold Star mothers.

    Dumb.

Got 22 months, hard time. Hillary stored State Department email on the same computer device he used to sext fifteen year old girls. [IMG]

This was before the Russians stole the election from it's rightful winner, Hillary.

So inane ... the POTUS can't issue verbal orders to civilians. No one outside the military, or admininistration is bound to comply with verbal commands. Pretty sure Trump can't issue an EO either ...

For example Curry has been discussing not going to the White House just days after winning a Championship. Their coach Kerr had similiar comments... It kept getting brought up so Trump took back the invite... Oh the horror!

SoB for a small action like peacefully protesting ( he does have a right to comment that) or be called "Racist" for 8 years for not voting for Obama and now being called a "Nazi" for not voting for Hilary...

Get over it. Your side lobs insults 24/7.

First, this issue isn't about "sides." I find it completely inappropriate for the President to call names and the fact that he did triggered the reaction of the NFL, but you excuse it. That's where we differ.

So, has the legal department of the NFL said that the player protest was illegal and he should be fired or not?

    Funny how that works.

Of course not because The NFL has taken a position of backing the players. That doesn't mean for a second the rules have magically changed.

Is this really a surprise? You've been watching politicians for years. How often to they follow their own rules?

I'm not surprised because there are two different sets of "rules." The hard rules that are enforceable do not address standing for the anthem. The operational rules recommend standing for the anthem, but there is no penalty for not doing so. That is the point you don't seem to get. There is no penalty for not standing for the anthem, so there is nothing to enforce. It doesn't mean they are ignoring the rules or have taken a position to back the players against the rule book. Individual owners can add rules for their teams, but that would only be enforceable on that particular team, and not league-wide.

Trump has tweeted that the NFL needs to make a rule on it. That's Trump's opinion, and he's welcome to state it. However, there's no requirement that the NFL do anything about Trump's opinion.

The NFL is not run by politicians. They are a business that makes and enforces their own rules.

Really. I would love to see what documentation specifies exactly what you just stated. Go ahead, love to see that specified in any NFL document.

Especially the definition of "hard" rules which I found particularly amusing. Be honest. You just made up that classification of the two different rule books. There is no documentation anywhere that states what you just said.

If you wish to continue this then post where you got that information on their classification because I've never seen it.

LOL Of course the NFL is run by politicians. Just like any other business they bend to public opinion and perspective. Good Lord how many businesses have taken political positions in the past on a vast majority of issues to cross dressers in bathrooms to Nike backing the players?

Oh I read it. Nothing in there says anything about "hard" rules as you claimed and neither did it say any of the rules on standing are recommended in the wording itself.

You can sigh all you like but the wording in the actual documents do not support what you are claiming.

Quote anywhere in the rules where it says there are "hard" rules. That isn't even in your article.

Quote in the rules where it says standing for the anthem is a recommendation or suggestion.

I've even given you the literal definition of the word should and you still ignore it.

You keep relying on someone else's opinion rather than the actual text. Why is that?

    Hilarious!

Only a blithering ignoramus would claim the National Anthem is a celebration of slavery and now an act associated with disrespecting the flag, the Anthem and everything they represent is going to be the Left's new sign of opposition to Trump? :roflol:

They might as well go with this sign while they're at it:
