Arrogance is proclaiming to know what you cannot know. You just proclaimed to know the minds of every atheist on the planet. Noting how you capitalize atheism it suggest along with your negative tone that you have some agenda and bias against atheism in presenting your position. Hardly a way to present your argument as well reasoned.

It's not really an opinion but rather a matter of fact that atheism is the rejection of a claim. To suggest that the first atheist had never heard of a God or gods and that religion had been unknown to them is absurd. The label was first used to demonize an entire group of people and it was given not taken, they were known as the ungodly. The rejection of the claim that a god exists is no different than you not believing in fairies or any other supernatural mythological creature and yet you have no beef with yourself or anyone else who rejects the idea that they exist.

Atheism is treated differently by people such as yourself because of religion, not atheism. We have been bred to respect and accept religious ideas because it was the only choice we were given for most of human history. It is because of this that all an atheist has to do to seem arrogant or mean is ask a question.

I myself can be strident when presenting my arguments because the debate over religion is of the utmost importance. It is this debate that will determine the future of humanity and that is not being dramatic. It is not an argument about personal belief because if you are a part of society your beliefs will not remain private unless you remain private. It is an argument about perspective, about the way in which humanity sees the world and their existence within it.

I would love however for you to give us some real examples, as I'm sure you have many, of your encounters with atheists that will show us why your position is valid.

1Jo 4:8 He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.

1 Corinthians 13:4) Love is long-suffering and kind. Love is not jealous, it does not brag, does not get puffed up,
    5) does not behave indecently, does not look for its own interests, does not become provoked. It does not keep account of the injury.
    6) It does not rejoice over unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth.
    7) It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Na 1:2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.

    Ex 20:5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

Ex 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:

1Jo 4:16 And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.

If all arteries, veins, and capillaries of the human circulatory system were laid end
to end, the total length would be 60,000 miles, or 100,000 km.

How can anyone dismiss the complexity of the human life to solely a product of random chance...

It's the old...if given enough time, a room full of chimpanzees and laptops; eventually the complete works of Shakespeare would emerge solely by random chance.

    It's horse hockey.

    There is evidence of design...EVERYWHERE...

Now, there may not be a creator "God" in the traditional sense, but the natural World can't be dismissed so easily as mere chance...that's a cop-out.

This argument is like telling a lottery winner that they must have cheated because of how unlikely it is that they won the lottery.

The universe formed randomly from quantum fluctuations, as far as scientists know. The laws formed by the big bang do the same things when applied in the same ways. One of these eventually lead to abiogenesis, and from there natural selection occured. There's nothing unlikely about that, because 100% of all things that have already happened have happened. The past is not a dice roll, so no matter how unlikely the past is, what we can observe happened. And our observations of the universe form a coherent explanation with no necessity for god.

Go to ANY religious thread on this forum and read what the atheists say. They are uniformly dismissive and condescending. Their "opinion" of no god is no more valid than someone else who believe their god is the one true god. Yet they act as if their is no room for doubt. Atheists by and large in my life and on this forum are condescending jackasses.......and I say this as someone with negative views of very religious people.

usually they are talking about a specific God... like a Sun God..... many Atheists believe in a higher universal connectedness... that some may call God

ever watch wife swap where the Christian traded places with the Athiest... was the Christian that was the condescending jackass.... lol

and don't forget the God Warrior... lol

Actually I'm not sure such a flagrant imbecility as your OP qualifies as "innocuous".

Yeah, I get it: you bask in the sense of superiority you feel over those whose humility you've decided does not approach your own. :)

What intelligent people lack, I'm afraid, is reason to find such pronouncements compelling. After all, it ain't like any of 'em could build an electron to save his life, even if we spotted him the Higgs boson.

    How very amusing.

And which law was that, exactly?

Any explanation can be deemed coherent given sufficient determination to ignore the obvious.

But you do believe in Natural Laws working in a network together to create this Reality we see as both threatening to our lives, and also a source that aids our existence, too.
    Right?

Reality is the God which is jealous of Fantasy Worlds men will create with lies they believe in.

What happens to people who live in Fantasy Worlds is they are killed off according to the Law of Survival.
They do not adapt to Reality.

    Truth is...........

God has regular board meetings in heaven.

God sits there and collects reports and forecasts for membership from Allah, Jesus, and a host of other devine folks tasked with cultivating increased market share.

I bet God, Allah, and Jesus go golfing, and God gives Jesus flak about how Allah's market share is increasing so much faster than Jesus's. He probably even threatens to send Jesus back down here to straighten things out.

Bearing in mind that surreality only has meaning as juxtaposed against reality, if God's creation is surreal, what's real?

When considering the possibility of alternate timelines or that anything that can happened, has happened, then, yes, what is real?

I refuse to dignify remarks as ignorant as your first 2 with a further response.

EDIT: No, actually, the first 4 remarks were smug and pointless bull(*)(*)(*)(*). Does that make you feel good about yourself?

Abiogenesis is largely still a mystery, but the most popular hypothesis at the moment is that the chemical components of the first cell bubbled up to the surface of the primordial sea from the depths of the earth, at which point you know what I'm just going to tell you to go read up on the Primordial Soup model on Wikipedia.

And there is nothing obvious about a god. If there is a god, he has failed to make himself obvious. The universe is not designed for life and I haven't heard any argument for it that's anything more than poorly written poetry on the beauty of nature. Life merely adapted to the universe.

As if they didn't want Joshua to be the fall guy. And somewhere in Revelations: I will kill her children (of the great whore of Babylon) with death.

The supercomputer heirarchy, at least up to the level that governs multiverses is a digital consciousness. Check out Tom Campbell (My Big TOE). A single lifetime does not provide all of the experiences necessary for the overall learning process.

I understand your comments and would urge you to pursue your study of QFM with an open mind. Quantum events and processes both support and detract from God or even ID hypothesis. I also was smitten by QFM but my study of quantum field mechanics along with astronomy and cosmology etc convinced me that the Universe WAS intelligently designed. However, the classical physics of Einstein and Godel (Godel universes) etc to are a double edged sword when trying to lend evidence to ones own beliefs be they pro or con God. In the last ten years the push is on by atheist physicists and cosmologists, Hawking for example, to call on quantum gravity and SUSY etc to eliminate the current universes point of creation or beginning. Instead of a graph of how the universe began looking like a 'V' with the sharp point representing when the universe began, the atheists are trying to rewrite the big bangs timeline to look like a 'U'. That is an grossly simplified explanation but its accurate. You might want to read how (Roger) Penrose* came to the conclusion that the universe was not simply a random event. If my memory serves me correctly penrose is or was an atheist or skeptic. He said that the chances for the universe being designed was about 10 to the tenth power to the 123rd power!!!! (holy crap!) FOR the universe being designed. Here is a resource and I have to admit I haven't had a chance to review it. But it may get you some sources pro and con. IMO its illogical to a high degree to assume the universe happened by random chance. I feel there is too much evidence to support the universe was intelligently designed, even now with the onslaught of physicists attempting to rewrite the big bang cosmology.

10 to the tenth power to the 123rd power equals

10 to the tenth power to the 123rd power equals? ... This number is also the probability of anything in this Universe being created randomly or coincidentally.

LOL!!! Ha ha...If that is true, believers (in Gods existence) have been gone long ago. However it seems to me we religious types have been here since the dawn of mankind. When are we going to get gone? Hint; never. The reason is that a belief in ID/God is a LOGICAL conclusion. And in the same vein its logical to assume because of all the evidences that the universe began to exist for a reason (google KCA Craig), God gave the universe that reason. At least that is my opinion, unfortunately for atheists its also the beliefs of over 80% of the worlds people. It seems atheists are the ones that should be worried about their inability to adapt.

    God bless this forum~

We don't even know how this universe works with all the dark matter in it. Your projection of superior design capability is artificial. Otherwise you should be coaching the Creator.

Was your sizing of the sun and moon, and distances between sun, moon, and earth such that our view of the moon and sun makes them look equal in size to enable an eclipse to be total?

Usable cars, disposable models. If we knew whether our universe was the real deal or just a model, we'd know whether or not we made the right choice.

Hey, I brought up that Sun/Moon relationship thing to a friend once. Playing 'devils advocate' I took the position of 'pro-creationist'. This guy was a pure 'big banger'. (no wiggle room) I was pointing out how 'things' seem to be so convenient for 'scientific discoveries'. EX: that Sun/Moon relationship. "How is it", I asked, "That the Moon is precisely the right distance and the right diameter to allow us to study the Sun during eclipses so we can test our scientific hypothesis'. How is it that that same Moon is precisely the correct distance from the Earth to allow life to exist and It's effect on the Planet (gravitational and Rotation) is precisely what's needed to tilt the planet on it's axis so that there are seasons???". And that the Earth is in that 'magical Goldilocks Zone' along with these aforementioned attributes? Obviously he replied "purely coincidence", luck of the draw".
So many mysterious conditions on this planet that appear to be 'designed' to permit study and scientific advancement...one could conclude that; something or someone had some intentions for us meatballs. Things are very neatly laid out.
