The US should consider reparations to African-American descendants of slavery

If they can get it from the Morgans or Rockefellers, more power to them, but they're not getting it from me. My ancestors were just as disadvantaged, and by the same people.

IMO you may be correct in that no one buys it. It is fairly well hidden how many whites are left out of the "white privilege" thing because, not having a noticeable tint, they tend to be invisible in schools and neighborhoods and get no special help the way many deprived blacks tend to.

The ultra wealthy tend to reach down even less to help poor whites than they do to help poor blacks. Poor whites tend to be completely ignored no matter how much they are struggling and how much they follow society's rules. Because they don't get into as much trouble, they don't get the special attention that black or white troublemakers do.

Absolutely agree. It's obscene to make American taxpayers pay for something that happened 400 yrs ago. Anyone in this country, regardless of color, can make a good living by educating themselves and working. That's the best thing they can do for themselves and their families instead of expecting hand-outs b/c of what happened centuries ago that no one now living had anything to do with.......

 

And while we're at it, let's figure out what the value of the land is of North and South America and have the European countries make reparations to the descendants of the indigenous North and South Americans that they took it from.

Europeans need to get their checkbooks out, and I expect the U.N. to make a pronouncement on the matter as soon as they total up the value of the North and South American land masses.

I guess we should tell the Italians and Turks that it's time to pay up for the sins of Rome and Constantinople. I'm sure I have a few tribal ancestors in the past that were killed by them. Well we are at it I wouldn't be surprised to find out I had some family killed by the Mongolians some way or another. They killed just about everyone at some point. I'm owed at least a horse, and bow for that.

Of course I'm such a mutt I probably owe myself some money as well when all is said and done. One part of the heritage killing, raping, and pillaging, another part of my heritage. It's almost like I have no right to the success or sins of my ancestors, and instead should live on my own individual value. Huh... odd that idea isn't it?

 

Well they are just lazy and probably expect the reparations to be no less than 100k. Which most will waste on a couple expensive cars they won't be able to afford for repairs after the rest of their money is spent on bling, designer clothes and bars or casinos.

Very few in comparison will make that kind of money last and do something big with it. Then we will still be back to square one about the white man keeping them down and they need more money to get out of the pit of debt they got themselves in.

It's going to be a never ending story until Africans break themselves away from the liberal narrative that they are always the victim and they need us to provide for them because they are too dumb to do it themselves because the white man made them that way.

My great-grandparents came to America from Sweden, Germany, and England about 1890-1910. That was long after slavery ended. Do I have to pay reparations?
