    That'd depend - some older, early 90s stuff, and some none mainstream radio stuff, is surprisingly good.

    The majority of stuff that ends up on the Top 100 radio charts? Crap - though no worse than most radio pop for that matter.

    The rap I do enjoy, most people today do not. I am 37 and grew up mainly in the 80s so I like the old-school stuff like Run DMC, Public Enemy, NWA, LL Cool J, etc..

    Rap today? An atrocity, though occasionally I hear one I like.

    Haven't heard them for a while, but I remember thinking They Might Be Giants was some of the worst music I've ever heard.

    The Grease soundtrack(I'm biased because these songs always get sung at karaoke and they are horrible by themselves, but when you have four drunk girls singing them, it's a whole new level of awful).

    Most of the rap/hip-hop I hear on the radio. This isn't to say that all rap/hip-hop is bad, just the stuff I hear on the radio. I've heard some of both that I've enjoyed. Jurassic Five comes to mind.

    Russel Crowe(listing him because he's awful enough to get mentioned in surveys that don't even involve movies, but he's maybe a little on-topic because he does have a band).

    I'm not sure what it is but every time I go to a specific grocery store there is an assortment of unbearably whiny music playing. that and the religious crap at a second hand store with the same 4 songs are probably tied for the worst.
