Response: The verse states for the beating to be light and not abusive, proven by the very words of the prophet. So stating that the verse says beating is proof of nothing, as the hitting is a light tap. Such a punishment is just, as a light tap leaves no scars or pain. Debunked as usual.

You just contradicted yourself. You're trying to say that the verse is advocating "punishment" (your word not mine). Well, if it's punishment then it is attacking the wife against her will to cause discomfort to her. If there isn't any pain from just a light tap, then that of course is NOT punishment. You can't have it both ways. If you're touching here as punishment, it IS PAIN. If it isn't pain, it isn't PUNISHMENT.

Here is a Hadith from Bukhari[8], vol. 7, # 715, that details Islamic wife beating:

"Narrated Ikrima: 'Rifaa divorced his wife whereupon Abdur-Rahman married her. Aisha said that the lady came wearing a green veil and complained to her (Aisha) and showed her a green spot on her skin caused by beating. It was the habit of ladies to support each other, so when Allah's messenger came, Aisha said, "I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes! When Abdur-Rahman heard that his wife had gone to the prophet, he came with his two sons from another wife. She said, "By Allah! I have done no wrong to him, but he is impotent and is as useless to me as this," holding and showing the fringe of her garment. Abdur-Rahman said, "By Allah, O Allah's messenger! She has told a lie. I am very strong and can satisfy her, but she is disobedient and wants to go back to Rifaa." Allah's messenger said to her, "If that is your intention, then know that it is unlawful for you to remarry Rifaa unless Abdur-Rahman has had sexual intercourse with you." The prophet saw two boys with Abdur-Rahman and asked (him), "Are these your sons?" On that Abdur-Rahman said, "Yes." The prophet said, "You claim what you claim (that he is impotent)? But by Allah, these boys resemble him as a crow resembles a crow.""

Let's note several items from this Hadith.

1) A woman was beaten by her husband because of marriage discord. The women did not commit any illegal sexual act. She was beaten and bruised because her husband said she was "disobedient" and he thought she wanted to go back to her former husband.

2) Aisha said, "I have not seen any woman suffering as much as the believing women. Look! Her skin is greener than her clothes!

The woman was badly bruised. Her skin was green. Aisha acknowledged that the Muslim women were suffering (from being beaten) more than the non-Muslim women. Muslims today proclaim that Islam gave women rights but Aisha, the "mother of the believers" said otherwise! She said that the Pagan women were treated better!

3) Muhammad did not rebuke the man for beating his wife. In fact, he reproached the women for saying Rahman was impotent. Even though she was hurt Muhammad accepted her bruises and beating because to Muhammad it was not abuse. In Muhammad’s eyes she deserved the beating.

Such idiocy. For the very definition of the word "punishment" proves to the contrary. A punishment does not have to include pain, according to the very definition. A punishment is also defined as a penalty inflicted on an offender through judicial procedure. A penalty is defined as a disadvantage or loss due to some action. In short, we see from the very definition of the word "punishment", that it does not have to include pain. This is common sense. When a parent puts a child on punishment, many simply take away their ttoys, entertainment, etc. No pain is involved. DEBUNKED AS USUAL.

Concerning the hadith, we see more of your delusion. You make an attempt to show that Muhammad does nothing to rebuke wife beating. Yet in the very same hadith, the woman herself.....never reports wife beating. She reports impotence and the prophet addressed what she presented. Secondly, there is no evidence that she was beaten brought forth to the prophet. Thirdly, hadiths are reports. They are reports relating to a certain subject. The hadith you presented is not under the subtilte of wifebeating in Bukhari. So expecting to read Muhammad address wife beating under a subtitle that has nothing to do with wifebeating is sheer idiocy. It's like reading the sports section and expecting to know about what happened in Israel. The absence of Muhammad not addressing the beating is not proof that Muhammad did not refute it. It's only proof that the narrator did not report it. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. If it was , then according to your logic, you would be a perverted, child-molesting, drug dealing, con-artist, because in all of your 16, 854 posts, you never stated you wasn't. Debunked as usual.
