Thanks for your very kind offer.
That's very generous of you but in addition to a chronic & inoperable lower back disorder, two 20+ year old hip replacements and pending knee surgery (right and left), I've also got a bone disease in both feet (Charcot joint disease), cancer (CLL), & congestive heart failure (Atrial fibrillation).
In spite of these well deserved aches n' pains from a life lived fully if not always wisely, I consider myself very lucky especially after going to the V.A. hospital and spending time with much younger fellow Veterans who are far less fortunate than I am. At least I can walk, exercise, do my chores, target shoot and still do some light blacksmithing. I still have my blacksmith shop and worked as a full time blacksmith for 25 years.

After being clobbered more than a few times by inattentive drivers, my only concern about recumbent bikes is that they are less visible to auto traffic and that you're a little more vunurable to dogs who like to attack cyclists.

Again, I'm very grateful for your interest and generous offer.
Best wishes & please be careful out there on the asphalt jungle.

Unfortunate to hear of all of that, but as you noted there is always someone who has it worse. I have a large (Motorcycle, I think) mirror welded to my handlebar. I have a very clear view of my 6. In the event of a crash, your hip will hit the ground first. Gotta make me a new bullwhip for my saddlebag. No dog wants a piece of it, when they hear it crack. Kept some pretty bad pitbulls off my ass with one. Two at once, on one occasion and you know how bold dogs in groups can get.

I detest people with thin skin who aren't smart enough to discern the meaning when someone makes a generalized statement. I knew what he meant.
