Ever considered what a high school football coach can go through in a football crazy community?

I used to have howling mobs screaming threats on my life and/or health on a regular basis. Once had an angry father parked outside my house all night and I could hear people with him begging him "don't do this" (couldn't call the police as the street was open to the public). I gave the appearance of ignoring him and he left after several hours. Never had to put up with his idiot son again either.

To hear members of Congress all but in tears due to ONE incident to me is utterly galling.

If this had really been a planned insurrection by Donald Trump, the Capitol Police would have been thrown out of the building, the Capitol would have been occupied easily, and threats WOULD have been carried out. Funny thing.....I haven't seen one Republican raising bail for the loons that actually broke in wearing Halloween costumes. Huh Kamala?

Donald Trump posted a tweet attacking his own vice president for lacking “the courage” to overturn the election for him ― enraging his Jan. 6 mob even further ― just minutes after learning that Mike Pence had been removed from the Senate chamber for his own safety.

Newly elected Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) told reporters Wednesday night, following the second day of the former president’s impeachment trial, that Trump had called for his help in delaying election certification the afternoon of the U.S. Capitol attack but he had told Trump that Pence had just been taken from the Senate and he couldn’t talk just then.

“He didn’t get a chance to say a whole lot because I said, ‘Mr. President, they just took the vice president out. I’ve got to go,’” Tuberville said.

According to video footage from that day, Pence was removed from the Senate at 2:14 p.m. after rioters had broken into the Capitol, meaning that when Trump lashed out at Pence at 2:24 p.m., he already knew Pence’s life was in danger.

If true...yet another example of what an A hole Trump is

we also don't say when a employee does something like this, oh, he learned his lesson so let's not fire him and make sure he can never work here again

but I have to ask, did you think there was a "death penalty" involved in the senate trial?

Funny that, they weren't over in Seattle and surrounding areas inauguration day.

You will, of course, disavow those that burned buildings and cars, demolished people's businesses, broke into government buildings, and harmed people?

Oh. I see. You think he has to break a law to be impeached. That is factually inaccurate. You're welcome.

BTW, anyone who watched the video presentation by the House managers yesterday and still can't empathize with members of Congress fearing for their lives has no empathy for their fellow human beings...........like Trump.

You're completely messing up with responsibilities. :(

The common man isn't a soldier in war or a policeman on the streets. These guys are there to save him and his democratic representatives (congress members) from crimes and violence.

A raging mob like this (on Capitol Hill) is not something a US citizen necessarily should have to be concerned with.

My point was that in the U.S. we take the results of actions into account and not just the actions themselves.

Firing a gun at someone is the exact same action whether the bullet kills someone or misses them yet we punish that same action radically differently based on results.

I voted against Trump twice. The term "assume" is an acronym. Perhaps you also assumed that I was only referring to politicians with a specific letter by their name. Trump did nothing to defend the second amendment.

Is your position that those politicians in the building, enjoying armed protection, are not pushing laws?

Strictly from legal and constitutional standards you are correct.

But in terms of moral and political considerations it should be a requirement.

Says the guy who supports the person who claimed the election was stolen despite no evidence of such. And no, voting anomalies and mistakes do NOT equal widespread voter fraud at the level of swaying an election. Sorry, but you're one of the last people who should be demanding moral considerations.

....and correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Pelosi in charge of security in the Capitol building? I want to know who is in charge of allowing intruders in, in at least one of the wings? You know it was Democrats in Portland that allowed damage to Federal Buildings.

Several people died. They beat a police officer to death and injured several others. They were chanting for the death of officials and were trying to pursue them. This was a serious threat. No, it isn't what most of us face every day. Try returning to reality.

You sound like the pro Trump fanatics at Conservative Political Forum who constantly rant and rave about exactly what is written in the U.S. Constitution.

I was banned from that forum for disputing their claims that Donald Trump won in 2020 in a landslide.

What "burned buildings" and "demolished peoples businesses" were those on inauguration day? Anything to back up your claims??
    I didn't think so.
You all really do need to get over it, or like I say, start telling the truth about it.

    You are wrong.
The right is who let the right wing terrorists in the Capitol.
The only 'damage' to th federal building in Portland was some fire works were shot at it, so you know, NONE.
