Limiting soda bottle sizes is a step too far.

What's next limiting the size of fries to 5 little fries in an order? One order per customer? How about big macs the size of a half dollar? See how silly this can get?

It's flat out ridiculous! We are a free country! Everyone knows sugar, pop, processed food and fast food are not healthy and if consumed regularly could have harmful effects. You either choose to say "f**k a healthy lifestyle, pass me the Big Mac," or you make healthier choices, it's not the governments job.

people play a role in it, but corporations play a bigger role imo

the food is addictive and misses with people hormones, and they design it that way on purpose and the government is telling people this is the healthy way to eat since grade school

when people go keto or low carb (once they get past the carb withdraw) their hormones get back in sync and they only eat when hungry again, because the body is no longer telling them they need to eat - I have been keto for a few years now, and I will never go back, the government lied to us

agree, education is the way to go, sugary soda and fruit juice is processed by the liver like alcohol, thus non alcoholic fatty liver... but I think if people knew this, they would change their eating habits on their own - people just need to know the truth

I agree with that, yes! There is evidence actually saying a sugar addiction is like heroine. Yes, our government does do all that, we are on the same page on that. However, people do know that sugar is bad, they know it's addictive and it's up to them to have the discipline to cut back or abstain.

I personally follow a lower carb life style, I only revert to keto if I put on a few pounds, but I follow a Paleo carb cycling diet myself. Keto isn't the answer for EVERYONE, it's not healthy for some..but I do agree excess sugar, excess carbs is bad for the body.

what most people do not know though is that carbs are turned into glucose by the body, eating grains and such is the same as eating sugar, many think honey and other "natural" sugars are healthy... people just do not know

many people think a calorie is just a calorie, so if they only eat 2000 calories, it doesn't matter what else they eat, their health will be fine

eating too many carbs releases too much insulin into the blood, which eventually causes insulin resistance

you can also by eating constantly become resistant to the hormone that tells the brain your full (this would include sipping on a sugary pop or fruit juice) throughout the day

what people also need to realize is insulin is the fat storage hormone, it's released when you eat carbs... it's harder to burn fat when this hormone is released

"I personally follow a lower carb life style, I only revert to keto if I put on a few pounds, but I follow a Paleo carb cycling diet myself. Keto isn't the answer for EVERYONE, it's not healthy for some..but I do agree excess sugar, excess carbs is bad for the body."

agree, lowering those carbs is the healthy way to eat, keto is a strict diet, many can't do it, but just lowering the carbs will help most people

Some people thrive off a diet that consists of grains, beans, etc and are healthy and fit, if it works for them, they can stick with it long term, GREAT!

As I stated, I advocate for a lower carb lifestyle for myself, because grains make me feel like sh*t and I can't train properly. If I eat grains, I am ready for a nap! Lol People's bodies are different, high fat like Keto may not be realistic for some people or healthy! If people do not calculate their macros correctly on a ketogenic diet excess fat, excess protein will also be stored as fat.

No, a calorie is not just a calorie, but they still matter!

As I said, for the MOST part I am in agreement with you, but I don't think low carb is for everyone and can be VERY unhealthy actually for some.

I do think some humans genes may have evolved different, for example if their ancestors grew up in a warmer climit with lots of fruit available all year round

I think for those people, they can eat more carbs and get away with it

"No, a calorie is not just a calorie, but they still matter!"

totally agree, but when you eat empty calories, or non-nutritious calories, your body is more likely to tell you that you need more, in order to get what it's missing

Yes, I would agree with what you say.

I sure wish I was one of those that thrived off carbs! Hahaha

I eat mostly carbs. White rice is 75% of my diet and I'm fit as a fiddle. There's good carbs and bad carbs and youll notice much of the world that eats most?y rice are very lean. I do get lots of exercise though and am leaving soon to mt bike.

You remind me of my liberal and obese sister-in-law who blames fast food companies for making their crap too good to resist. Funny that her sister and I have no problem resisting it

Education is the only non authoritarian way to go.

Years ago I was addicted to Cokes..Full of corn fructose as other processed foods are today, even bread.

I was borderline diabetic! Up to 260 pounds ! I stopped the cokes and would drink a diet mountain dew occasionally. But I had been drinking a 6/pack of coke in the can! Each day!

In 3 months of no cokes I lost down to 220!. 6 months in I was down to 180! I was astounded. My family thought I had cancer. I didn't.. And my blood sugar became normal but I still suffer from nerve damage in my feet. From high blood sugar thanks to Cokes.

I then started reading labels. Amazing how much processed food has high fructose corn syrup in it.

Sugar is a killer. Use it wisely. See it.as a poison. I am serious! A little bit as a treat is fine though. Pay attention to labels and get shocked. They put it in food that doesn't need it!

and as long as you do not eat too much and you never get insulin resistance, you will be fine - once you hit that point, watch out

there is also some research pointing to heavily process seed oils as contributing to insulin resistance - and processed food uses that in everything nowadays, even fryer food is fried in it

I can't tell if the first part is sarcasm or not.

God. I hope it is. Because if not, I can say that TDS has reached a new level of idiocy.
