    Of course they aren't settled.
We are subsidizing with tax money industries being hurt by tariffs.
    Meanwhile, China shops elsewhere.

That's because this thread requires a certain element of intelligence to understand it. Trump's fans are largely ignoring it.

    Your point?

Why is it the benefits of Trump's policies are always in the future?

So is the EU, Japan, and Australia. That is what happens when a U.S. President uses a great economy as a weapon along with harsh tariffs on our friends and trading partners.

The Fed will make its decision on interest rates today, but the larger problem is Trump's trade wars, primarily with China.

I think this is well written. You will see none of it but many others will,

"In the evil populist "Trump's America," here's what happened to energy-related carbon emissions: In 2017, they fell by 0.5 percent. But in the saintly globalist European Union, they went up by 1.5 percent in the same period. In fact, per-capita carbon emissions in Trump's America are nearly at a 70-year low."

"America's poverty rate was lower in President Trump’s first year than at any point in the Obama administration."

"The Trump tax cuts doubled the standard deduction to $12,000 for individuals and $24,000 for families. That's a huge change that takes millions of Americans out of federal income tax altogether and has effectively increased incomes for middle class families across the country."

"the lowest unemployment rate since 1969. And the lowest African-American unemployment ever."

Wages have risen all the way through the last two years and were up 3.1 percent in the last quarter – the highest level in a decade."

Trump's pressure is working. China is on the back foot, making trade concessions, and now pledging to drop its "Made in China 2025" program, which was Xi Jinping's grand plan to achieve world domination in the industries of the future."

"It was outgoing President Obama who told President-elect Donald Trump that North Korea would be his number one problem. Trump actually listened to him, did something about it, and turned our relationship around in a way that has made the world incomparably safer."

"major new effort to revitalize urban America and rebuild low-income neighborhoods is being led by Ben Carson."

"America last week became a net oil exporter for the first time in 75 years, enabling us to reduce the global influence of dodgy regimes in the Middle East and elsewhere."

Trump signaled he may veto a short-term funding bill over its lack of funding for a wall along the US-Mexico border, pushing the federal government into a shutdown.

Considering the mid-term losses and the Democrats taking over the House on Jan. 3, about the last thing the GOP needs is Republican President causing a government shutdown when the Republican Senate and the Republican House have agreed to a short-term C.R.

Trump is a showman. He wants to keep us in suspense. Late Friday he will sign the bill. We all know that.

Another bad day on Wall Street. The Dow was off another 464 points. NASDAQ and the S&P fared equally as bad.

There were three reasons, two having to do with Trump, trade with China and Trump's threat to make good on his promise to shut down the government four days before Christmas. The third, oil is in free fall. The Dow closed below 23,000 for the first time since October 2017.

According to Giuliani, Trump’s written answers to the special counsel’s questions say the Trump Tower Moscow discussions may have continued even later, “up to November 2016,” he told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

This explains why Trump collaborated with the Russian government in the first place.

While serious questions were being asked about Trump's surrender to ISIS in Syria, at home Washington was in Trump-created chaos.

All of Washington was in chaos today. Nobody seemed to know what to do.

Last week Trump was "proud" to shut down the government over his border wall. Yesterday he changed his mind and the Senate under McConnell's leadership passed a C.R., thinking Trump would sign it. This morning Trump changed his mind again. He listened to the right wing minority on Fox, radio, Twitter, and the Freedom Caucus and decided he would shut the government down over his wall.

McConnell and leading Republicans in the Senate have egg all over their faces, betrayed by their unpredictable President who seems governed by whims.

So now the House, which was ready to okay the Senate bill, passed a stopgap measure to fund the government that includes $5 billion for a border wall sought by Trump. The bill is expected to be rejected in the Senate, and does little to prevent a shutdown on Saturday. Oh, most Senate members have gone home for Christmas. They thought their work was done.

What is this? The keystone cops.

Will Trump change his mind tomorrow? No one knows.

He is leaving tomorrow. He plans on spending Christmas at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump has done nothing for the economy except threaten it with his harsh tariffs and trade wars, primarily with China. It is not Trump's tax cuts. The entire bill was written by Congress. The other accomplishments are routine, nothing to brag about. So, let's take serious look at the Trump administration.

Currently, Trump is threatening to shut down our government.

Currently his harsh tariffs and his trade war with China has wiped out all gains for the year in the stock market. Everyone with an IRA or mutual fund has lost money.

By declaring Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, Trump has removed the U.S. as a power broker in the Mideast and replaced by Russia.

Trump has made the U.S. a pariah on climate change by making us the only country not a member of the Paris Accord. He thinks climate change is a Chinese hoax. The past two years have seen once-in-500-year-storms occur frequently with surreal weather making weather history.

He has threatened NATO and angered the leaders of the free world, Trudeau, May, Macron, and Merkel to name four.

He removed the U.S. from the JCPOA that permanently barred Iran from making a nuke and replaced it with harsh language and weak sanctions. Russia is Iran's ally and technology and weapons supplier.

Trump, in a stunning rebuke of the US intelligence community, declined to endorse the US government's assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election, saying he doesn't "see any reason why" Russia would be responsible.

"I have great confidence in my intelligence people, but I will tell you that President Putin was extremely strong and powerful in his denial today," Trump said.

According to Giuliani, Trump’s written answers to the special counsel’s questions say the Trump Tower Moscow discussions may have continued even later, “up to November 2016,” he told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

In other words, during the entire course of the Presidential election campaign, Trump was busy negotiating with the Putin government.

This explains Trump's lavish praise of Putin during the campaign and beyond. See "80 times Trump talked about Putin"

This explains Trump's subservience to Putin at Helsinki when both were standing before reporters at a press conference.

This explains why Trump, to this day, refuses to blame the Putin government for interference in our election, and why he spurns American intelligence on the issue.

This explains why Trump collaborated with the Russian government in the first place.

It is all connected, serious concerns about trade with China, the stock market, and a government shutdown. The common connection ... Trump.

The Trade war, sanctions and uncertainty (on the basis of a maniac in the white house) is taking its toll.

Rising interest rates on our debt - then end of "easy money" - is also having an effect.

Lots of things affect the stock market. In my opinion the biggest one at the moment is slowing economies in other countries - specifically Europe. The tariffs are a secondary problem.

Nice but explain to us why CHina’s tariffs and protectionism has helped them with their economy? has worked for them for a long time. Does china not have economists who comprehend the basic trade principles you have shown us? They should open all their markets, let their currency freely float. Those dumb chinese!

If I am deranged please feel free to correct the errors of my ways.

But you never do that. You just keep saying I am deranged and you never explain why.

This would cause one to question your intellectual capability. You can't support what you say.

On the other hand, considering the reality of my statements it is Trump's fans who are deranged.

Trump is losing it. What a dumb idea.

Senate Republicans quickly rejected Trump's push that they go "nuclear" and change Senate rules to eliminate the legislative filibuster in order to pass a funding bill with $5 billion for his wall on the Mexican border.

"I’ve long said that eliminating the legislative filibuster would be a mistake," said outgoing Senate Finance Committee Chairman Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) in a string of tweets explaining his position.

"It’s what’s prevented our country for decades from sliding toward liberalism. It’s inconvenient sometimes, but requiring compromise is in the interest of both parties in the long term," Hatch said.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) has repeatedly rejected Trump's request to nix the legislative filibuster, saying there aren't the votes in the Senate to do so.

"With the regard to the filibuster rule, as I've told him repeatedly, the votes aren't there to change it. They just aren't there," McConnell said at an event earlier this year, adding, "I simply disagree with the president about the harm that [the filibuster] does."

The stock market is in negative territory again today.

Combined with his embarrassing surrender to ISIS and Russian forces and the Mueller investigation which is heating up, Trump is losing his party and losing his best advisors. Sessions, Haley, McGahn, Zinke, Kelly, Mattis and Ayers have all quit or been fired in the last two months. They have not been replaced.

I can't diagnose the cause of your compulsive hatred for President Trump. Most people learn to deal with situations as they are presented. Apparently leftie Trump haters have not learned how to cope with their election losses. Nobody has any idea where Trumps tariffs with China are going. Doing something that has not been done before is scary for everybody but posting day by day threads based on what the media is telling you will not change the path we are on. I have given up trying to explain this to you as I now think it has become therapy for the alt-lefties to just spout off in a daily tirade against anything Trump.
Have at it but at least stick to one area at a time as it gets confusing when you derail your own thread.

You make me the focus of your posts. You never challenge what I say. All you do is tell me you don't like what I say.

Your inability to defend Trump should cause you to ask yourself why you are supporting him.

I think we have seen the results of Trump's China tariffs. Have you look at your IRA lately?

I have provided excerpts from business websites. They cite Trump's trade wars as one of the major causes of the collapsing market, not a secondary one.

You are so obviously one sided in all of your screeds against President Trump. You remind me in many ways of a stalker - unable to let go and get on with life.

Have you bothered to take a look at what impact a trade war would have on a Chinese economy that is stretched to its limits?
What does it cost to build and maintain all of that infrastructure and all of that armed might. Have you considered the effects to China that any market disruption might create?

Have you noticed that the rest of the pacific basin is jumping all over the opportunities this war is offering - look at the trade steps Vietnam is making.

China can not fall back on its old standby of currency and market manipulation; it doesn't work against a market savvy genius like President Trump
