    "The National Debt in my first month went down by $12 billion."

    He's clearly trying to take credit for that and he had nothing whatsoever to do with it

    Trump did not take credit for the decline, but it can be argued that it was implied. Why would Trump post a positive that he, his administration, and/or the Republican Party feel that they are not responsible for?

    And yet many of his delusional followers believe that Trump is the reason that the debt has reduced. There is even a thread on this forum giving credit to Trump. Knowledge of economics and the majority of Trump supporters are mutually exclusive events

    He also took credit for a $600 million Lockeed Martin reduction that was announced by the Pentagon before he ever took office. This is the kind of game this administration plays, they are an administration of "alternative facts"

    Oh no. I was quite surprised. Once the GOP took the House, I thought we would get control of it. And it just got worse!

    By the time we won the Senate, I no longer believed the lies of the GOP leadership. I wanted to be surprised that they just spent even more, but, by this time I had their number.

    Trump isn't just a giant FU to the Democrats, he is also a big FU to the GOP "leadership". The GOP "leadership" apparently leads each other, because they sure as hell don't follow the direction of the base. But with Trump, they may get taken to the woodshed if they don't get in line.

    I hope it doesn't double. I remember after the GOP swept the '94 mid terms, we were assured that $200B deficits would continue as far as the eye could see. Gingrich and the boys rolled their sleeves up, and we very quickly balanced. It was amazing, it happened fast, and everyone assured us it could not be done.

    Hopefully we see something like that again.

    The proof will be in the pudding!

    If not, the Convention of the States, to write a balanced budget amendment is warming up in the Bull Pen!
