On December 12, when Juan Diego opened his tilma in the bishop’s presence, the roses fell to the ground, and the bishop sank to his knees. On the tilma where the roses had been appeared an image of Mary exactly as she had appeared at the hill of Tepeyac.

According to a contemporary chronicler, nine million Indians became Catholic in a very short time..."

They don't because 1m Iranians died in the Iraq-Iran War, Soleimani was a hero of that war and leader of a national postwar effort to make sure they didn't have another one.

 

I read a story of a black boy that was kidnapped recently and turned into a eunuch and the suffering he went through was unbelievable. He said most boys didn't survive the ordeal. Lot of kindness there.

And then there were the black slave women, who must have loved having their babies killed.

As for the blacks in the US, they were no worse off economically than the peasants in Eastern Europe or the children working in the coal mines in Wales - except maybe for their dignity in having to go in the back of the bus. Also I don't know of blacks dying from lack of food in the depression even though we didn't have a welfare system. The Churches took care of people.

 

We don't know how much of a free hand he had. The point I keep making is that he was was least complicit.

 

I taught history for years. When we looked at slavery in this country, I gave them a look at slavery in other places and times.

Soleimani was killed because he was going to take the peace agreement by Iran to Saudi Arabia - and the last thing Israel wanted was peace between Iran and Saudi Arabia. So Netanyahu called Trump and the rest is history.

 

The Israelis were clearly behind putting the idea of assassinating General Soleimani into Trump's impressionable "mind", but now they are working to distance themselves from it.

He had a totally free hand as did Eichman.

 

Why does the Democratic Party in 2020 have to answer what the party did long ago? Should Republicans have to answer for the Depression they created 90 years ago?

It was absolutely the smart thing to do. Iran respects strength. It takes advantage of weakness. The killing of Soleimani is a deterrent to further Iranian aggression. And as another poster pointed out Trump has the Democrats defending the leading nation state of global terrorism.

This isn't deterring ****. It's riled up the previously restless Iranian public, ended the US-Iraq alliance (while strengthening Iraq's alliance with them) and Iran's defence pact with Russia means they can do whatever the hell they want short of open war because the US can't do much worse than what just happened without risking WW3. Iran has never had a stronger hand.

 

Iran has no defense pact with Russia. It relies on its own power. Which is a lot more substantial than the propaganda and stereotypes in people's mind.

 

Iran has a failing economy, rioting against the theocracy in the streets, and now has lost there cowardly global terrorism leader. If they try anything in retaliation costing the lives of US citizens they will be hit again. They know that and will do nothing except posture. Russia is no threat to the US.

 

Iran has nothing except a policy of cowardly terrorism. They are rational and have seen what the US did to Iraq.

 

Iran will not just hit you, but hit you so hard and so clearly that you will have no excuse anymore. You will have to choose between leaving the region (Iraq and Syria especially) and going to war with Iran. And I don't think you will find war with Iran what you imagine it would be like.

LOL Unlike the propaganda version of what you think the US did in Iraq, Iran knows exactly what the US was and wasn't able to do. Iran knows that up close, first hand. The image you have of the "Iraq war" is simply propaganda. And I don't think the propaganda will do anything other making the US unprepared to fight Iran.

 

Iran HAD a rioting population. Then Trump threatened to bomb their cities and monuments. Now Iran is united like america after 9/11, has Iraq 100% on their side and American sanctions are likely to lose any teeth if the EU says **** it and opens up trade. Trump has undone 40 years of American influence in the region becuase some neocon was the last person to talk to him 3 days ago.
