Where is your evidence Obama had any control or say over the military's parole process?

Now you allege the man was just an innocent villager or city dweller? Obama paroled the man.

    What empowers an insurgency?

Good question. I believe that the Sunni were in essence blamed for what Saddam did, the other Muslims would fight back against the Sunni to prevent a take over by a Saddam Hussein clone.

The Sunni at first were so shocked how fast Saddam lost the war, it took time for them to regroup. They commenced to slaughter other Muslims who hated Saddam and hell broke out.

Apparently the Democrats argue for the rights of the Sunni to continue as had Saddam Hussein. i do not see that as a real possibility even though the Democrats still defend Saddam Hussein.

Though my Army time was spent in Germany, I recall to this very day how we spent a good deal of time keeping our secrets from the Germans. We had to keep telling the troops to not talk to the German girls about our movements. And this was during peacetime.

I do not believe the typical Afghani favors the Taliban.

Are you telling us we should have supported the Taliban?

I am curious as to why that is?

This is you confirming you have zero experience with counter-insurgency warfare?

Obama was commander in chief. Do you deny the convict was pardoned in 2014?

I'm saying we should have actually sent enough troops to Afghanistan to actually occupy it, rather than drawing down forces there and ignoring it for years so we could fight Bush's optional war in Iraq.

Shows me to be a Brit and I was serving in the Gulf in 2011. Now lets hear it rather than you ducking the question?

Where is your evidence that the commander in chief has any legal authority over the military's parole process?

I have not ever alleged to be experienced with counter insurgency. But I have studied both books by two most senior Generals along with the book by Paul Bremer.

Why weren't you aware of the 2014 pardon for this same convicted soldier?

Yes he did. He threatened an unarmed prisoner with murder and then followed through with it, all the while acting in direct contravention to legal orders he was given by a superior officer.

Paul Bremer? You mean the guy who totally ****ed the occupation of Iraq by disbanding the Iraqi Army?

When was he pardoned in 2014?

So you contend we should have supported both the Taliban and AQ and that would have worked?
I do not understand that argument at all.

I contend we should not have given any ehnic group carte blanche to murder their tribal enemies. We should have sent in enough forces to occupy Afghanistan and suppressed the ethnic violence ourselves.

But we couldn't send sufficient troops to Afghanistan AND also invade Iraq in Bush's War of Choice, so that was out.

You guys do realize that torture was not an issue in this case? The victim, such as he could be a victim, reportedly was part of a roadside bomb attack that killed buddies of the Lt, but that occurred weeks, or more, before the Lt basically abducted and shot the "victim." If you want to assert that soldiers torture people to find out where the roadside bombs are ready to go off, I wouldn't disagree, though

Well a case can be made for disobedience. But I am not sure the army charged him for that.

i would need to actually read the actual Army charges to comment on that part.

Part of my duty in the Army was to process all disciplinary acts against the men of our command. I simply can not accurately report how many Article 15s I typed up for the CO. I also typed up the Section 208s we discharged for unfit duty.

A person threatened with murder has the right to defend themselves from their murderer. A murderer cannot legally kill their victim just because the victim fought back.

Afghanistan is landlocked. Franks simply could not have poured in that many troops to suppress when he wanted to make friends of the population living in Afghanistan.

I believe there are more than two ethnic groups in Afghanistan but have to consult my books to ensure absolute accuracy.

War is never more than an absolute mess. Even Ike had his constant messes to deal with.
MacArthur had his messes in Korea as did other Generals in Vietnam.

Christ, as much credit as you guys give to Obama, suddenly you revolt giving him credit as the commander in chief? Why is that?

I don't know if you know this, but there were these things invented a while ago called "transport aircraft".

I don’t know what role the CIC has in this process, if any.

Why I must ask do you defend the enemy of Iraq?

This man had been released from prison in the Obama regime.

We all realize our own Army prosecuted this former officer. Frankly I have encountered a few very poor officers when i was in the Army but on balance I believe we have the majority of very fine highly trained officers working in our military.

1st Lt. Polston was the worst Army officer I encountered and by this time he may have passed away. He got a Battalion lost. By himself he manged to put the full battalion in the wrong place. The Col finally located us and ripped his ass but good. I enjoyed that.

I was in daily contact with a number of officers and they hated Polston.
